PROGRAM Eight days workshop in a small working groups about a project with urban relevance.
Lectures by tutors and professors. Lectures hold by invited professors with international relevance. Final presentation and exhibition of the projects with invited institutions. Private
architectural offices invited to participate with their projects. Cultural Institutions will be involved in the program.
LOCATIONThe lectures and seminars will be hosted in the Istanbul Modern within the scope of YAP
Istanbul Modern. The workshops with students will take place at the Chamber of Architects, Tütün Deposu-DEPO.The final presentation will take place at Istanbul Modern Museum.
ADMISSIONThe participation to the workshop involves the payment of a fee for an amount of 300 euros, including tutoring and the participation to all the activities, lectures, documentation. Travel,
room and board are excluded. To formalize the entry candidates have to send their request to the organization with a synthetic portfolio and, after the acceptance, they have to finalize
the entry with the payment of the fee. Fellowships or any other economical support has to be asked to the universities or institutions of origin. People interested in participating has to
send an e-mail to [email protected] to receive the relative information. The deadline for the submission is fixed for May the 31st 2013.
CREDITS The recognition of academic credits is demanded to each University. At the end of the
workshop all the participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

THINKING THE EDGE – WATER & CULTURE Istanbul July 2013 is an internat ional , mult idiscipl inary archi tectural event that wi l l take place in Istanbul, focusing on bui lding a natural environment and the not ion of edge as a dynamic interchange among real i t ies, mater ia ls, cul tures, ident i t ies and memories.
THINKING THE EDGE – WATER & CULTURE was born as a resul t of the previous successes of Thinking The Edge Mi lano 2010 and Water Front Hong Kong 2011. Istanbul provides the per fect set t ing for an archi tectural event that explores the dynamic relat ions between water and cul ture, exempl i f ied by an ever changing, mult icul tural society and i ts beloved Bosphorus.
THINKING THE EDGE – WATER & CULTURE events wi l l include: WORKSHOPS at tended by students f rom twelve universi t ies al l over the wor ld, SEMINARS and ROUND TABLES chaired by prominent representat ives of the archi tectural and interdiscipl inary f ie lds, as wel l as EXHIBITIONS and a COMPETITION opened to students and professionals. The event wi l l provide a forum and oppor tuni ty to meet a var iety of wel l - renowned archi tects f romTurkey and from abroad.
