GEORGIA PARENT SURVEY

Big Creek After School Activities

Sponsored by The Learning Bridge

All after school activities meet from 2:30 - 3:30 on given meeting dates. Payments are made directly to The Learning Bridge. The cost for each activity ranges from $40 - $55 depending on if there are any extra fees for supplies. All after school activities meet for four weeks.

The following activities will begin meeting on Thursdays and each session lasts 4 weeks. The fourth session

of after school activities for 2017-2018 will meet on January 25, February 1, and February 8 and February 15.

Forms are due back no later than Tuesday January 23rd.

Chess Club $40 (Mrs. Cox-Open to K-5)

Love Chess, never played Chess or just love a good competitive game between some classmates? Well, come hang out with me (Mrs. Cox) for an hour and polish up your Chess skills while having FUN!! Chess is a great game for all ages and levels. Did you know that playing Chess makes kids SMART? Playing develops critical thinking skills, improves memory, improves concentration and builds confidence. ALL grades are welcome. ALL levels are welcome. Beginners will get lots of one on one help to learn the basics of the games while the more advanced will have more competition. Awards are given at the end of class for their great accomplishments. $40 Max number of participants is 30, so sign up today!

Cooking Club $55 (Mrs. Brown and Ms. Knoup-Open to K-5) Are you worried about the Holiday’s being over? Want to re-visit some Holiday favorite treats? THIS is the club for you! We will be doing "Christmas in January" with lots of fun holiday treats. Come learn how to make a variety of delicious and fun snacks! Kids will get to make and assemble a variety of yummy snacks. All ages are welcome but this fills up fast. Be sure and get your form in today! (If your child has severe food allergies, (i.e. allergic to nuts, dairy, etc.) this club may not be for them.

Winter Craft Club $45 (Ms. Stewart-Open to K-3) Do you like to create things? This is the club for you! We will be making holiday themed items each week. Activities include arts & crafts and maybe a snack or two! This club will be full after 25 students sign up, so don’t waste any time getting your form and payment in!

French Club $40 (Mrs. Chowdhury-Open to 2-5) Bienvenues chez le French Club! If you are interested in exploring your passion for the French culture and language, I welcome you to join the French Club. We will be learning about Mardi Gras, crepe making, play the game of Boules, take a virtual trip to the Louvre, and painting with Monet!

Art Club $45 (Mrs. Groover-Open to 1-5)

Welcome to a Winter Wonderland! Art Club is getting a little chilly! Join us for some winter themed art fun! We will be creating a winter painting, bottle cap snowmen and clay snowmen! It's sure to be a snowy time! There is a maximum of 20 students for this club, so don’t delay…sign up today!

Star Wars Club $40 (Mrs. Warstadt-Open to 3-5)

Are you a Jedi, or a Sith? Would your lightsaber be blue, green, purple or red? Do you think that Luke is Rey’s father? If you know the name of the world’s most famous Wookiee…if you know the difference between an X-wing and a TIE fighter…then this club is for you.

Fees and Payment Agreement

The cost of each after school activity is $10.00 per meeting date (ex. 4 meetings =$40). Some activities will

charge a supply fee.

All payments are non-refundable. If your child displays behavior that interferes with the goal of the club, your

child will be unable to participate in the remaining club sessions. Please put your child’s name and the club

name on your check or cash in a marked envelope. Clubs must have a minimum of eight children. Pick up

time is 3:30pm prompt. Any student not picked up by 3:35pm will come to the front office and the parent will

be called. All families received a car tag in their Open House folder of the youngest sibling. If you cannot find

yours, please stop by the front office before the first club meeting. For safety reasons, you must have a car rider

number before we can release your child to you.

Big Creek Elementary Literacy Night

Thursday February 8th, 2018

This event begins promptly at 6:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm

Mark your calendars for 2/8/18 and help us celebrate reading and literacy at Big Creek Elementary.

At this free family event there will be sessions for parents and separate sessions for students. Bring

up to 3 gently used children’s books to trade in our Book Swap station! Look for a flyer to come home

with your child soon.

Read-a-Thon Fundraiser

Let’s get excited for our Read-A-Thon that starts on February 5th through 14th. More details soon, but start

reaching out to your family and friends to help support your reading!

Talent Show

We are very excited that our Big Creek’s Got Talent Show is coming up next month, February 24th! Auditions

will be held February 6th and 7th. Please be on the lookout for the audition application!

Mother Son Event

We are working so hard to plan a fun evening out for the mother’s and sons of our school. Please be patient

with us while we lock down the details, we will have them for you shortly!

Father Daughter Dance

Save the Date! The Big Creek Elementary Father Daughter Dance, Enchantment Under the Sea, will be held

Friday, March 9, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Piney Grove Middle School. We look forward to seeing all the

girls from Big Creek and their escorts - Father, Grandfather, Uncle, or Family Friend! Ticket information will go

home the last week of January, and cost is $15 per couple and $7.50 per individual (sibling). This event is for

students of Big Creek and their escorts only (1 adult per girl or family). Formal photos will be available for

purchase at the dance. You won't want to miss this magical evening filled with dancing to a live DJ, sweet

treats, and a keepsake for each girl!
