Comparisons and Differences

By Davleen

We have been studying the novel Holes by Louis Sachar. We also watched the film.

The film and the book have little amount of similarities but plenty of differences.

The flash-backs in the film are the same as the ones in the book. The events and the script are also the same.

In the book, Stanley is overweight, but in the film, Stanley is slim. This is a confusing change as being overweight is an important

detail to add. The film also misses out some events that the book has. Also, when Kate Barlow came back to Camp Green Lake, she stayed in a shed. Whereas in the film she stayed in the boat.

I liked the book because it was very interesting and drew me in, I didn't want to stop reading it. I thought the book could have been

a bit scarier and explain it a bit more, but I liked it all the same. The film was still good but it missed out important events and

added different parts to it. Overall, I think the film was better as it was more interesting and I enjoyed it more.
