Start a RC/Migrator Session

To Use utility JCLs , the model library has to be SET. This can be found out from the option ‘0’ on the panel

This library should be used to produce the utility JCLs.

To see/Analyse all the strategy datasets, press Enter on the Screen. Use Filtering criteria appropriately.(CREATOR is one of the good criteria for filtering)

To Edit the Strategy dataset , Type ‘E’ on the line command and PRESS ENTER

To create a new Migration Strategy

select one of the primary objects

PUT ‘S’ AGAINST THE object name and then ‘F3’, you can see the selected Object on the panel

Here you can select all the objects to be migrated by typing ‘A’ on the line command or make a selection by typing ‘S’. Select only one object at the highier hierarchy of objectse.g. IF YOU SELECT TABLESPACE , then no need to select anything.., if you don’t want to select TABLESPACE , then you can select any of the objects on its right .but

SELECT ONE of the TABLESPACES and press ‘F3’. Press F3 again.

Now the strategy has been saved.To generate the migration Plan into a dataset

On this panel SELECT an existing dataset or uncatalogued dataset in the output dataset specification. Press ENTER after entering the new dataset name

On this panel provide the allocation details for the dataset and PRESS ‘F3’

On this panel, SELECT one of the MODELs

NOW SELECT THE EXECUTION MODE ‘B’ OR ‘N’. On this panel , the default options can be changed by changing the UPDATE OPTIONS to ‘Y’

on this panel change the options as desired and PRESS ‘F3’.

On this panel you can PREVIEW the JCL or directly submit it by using option ‘J’

Submit the JCL to generate the Migration strategy into a dataset. After completion of the job, you can see the strategy to have been created .

To implement the migration strategy generated , GOTO the main panel. Select the STRATEGY dataset

AND press ENTER

On this panel ‘B’ or ‘O’ can used and PRESS ENTER

Once the job is completed, migration strategy is complete.s


Recommended
