Dual Entitlement licensing model for Db2 Cartridge
• Dual entitlement enables you to unlock wide range of AI services (worth up to $256k) part of base Cloud Pak for Data
• Deploy Db2 as a container and as a bare metal using dual entitlement option
What is “dual entitlement” and how does it work?
EXAMPLE
Consider a trade-up of 100 cores of Cloud Pak for Data Db2

No containerization Partial containerization Full containerization
Customer opts to maintain their existing Db2 instance and make use
of the other CP4D services.
Customer opts to containerize only a subset of their Db2 applications.
Customer opts to containerize their entire Db2 estate and deploy on
CP4D.
All three of these deployment strategies are supported.
What is “dual entitlement” and how does it work?
EXAMPLE
Consider a customer who trades up to x100 cores of Cloud Pak for Data Db2
A max of 100 VPCs of Db2 to run on-prem, containerized on Cloud Pak for Data or a combination of both

Ability to be integrated into custom personal web pages
Unified Db2 Console
• Db2 graph is an integration layer built on the Tinkerpop framework, to execute Gremlin queries on Db2
• Execute SQL and Gremlin queries on the same data and avoids the costs of duplicating data and over head of migrating data into a Graph data store
• Exposes the data from Db2 RDBMS in a virtual Property graph view, for graph queries• Uses metadata from Db2 catalog and referential information to
create the graph overlay
• Is optimized for efficient graph traversals by• Reducing the number of tables we need to access from DB2• Predicate pushdown to perform selective querying
IBM Cloud Pak for Data / © 2020 IBM Corporation
Db2 as a Graph databasePerform graph analysis and OLTP on the same set of tables, with no data migration or duplication or investing in a graph database. This would average out to savings upwards of 200K USD/Annum.

Db2 Trade-ups explainedExample #1 – Full containerization
Cloud Pak for Data
Source:
Customer begins with a perpetual license for 7,000 PVUs of IBM Db2 Enterprise Server Edition.
Target:
Customer purchases 100 units of trade-up part for 100 VPCs of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Db2.
Deployment Strategy:
Customer opts to fully containerize their Db2 deployment by migrating it into the Cloud Pak for Data environment, thereby utilizing all 100 VPCs of the cartridge license; There are no remaining cores to utilize towards other CP4D services.
Trade-up details:
For each unit of part number D260ALL that the customer purchases, they agree to suspend 70 units of their existing Db2 Enterprise Server Edition PVU license and thereby trade-up to the new Cloud Pak for Data Db2 cartridge.
