• Db2 graph is an integration layer built on the Tinkerpop framework, to execute Gremlin queries on Db2

• Execute SQL and Gremlin queries on the same data and avoids the costs of duplicating data and over head of migrating data into a Graph data store

• Exposes the data from Db2 RDBMS in a virtual Property graph view, for graph queries• Uses metadata from Db2 catalog and referential information to

create the graph overlay

• Is optimized for efficient graph traversals by• Reducing the number of tables we need to access from DB2• Predicate pushdown to perform selective querying

IBM Cloud Pak for Data / © 2020 IBM Corporation

Db2 as a Graph databasePerform graph analysis and OLTP on the same set of tables, with no data migration or duplication or investing in a graph database. This would average out to savings upwards of 200K USD/Annum.

Provides abstraction layer for faster application deployments and increase time to value

Develop secure and scalable Kubernetes applications without dealing with complexity of Kubernetes

RedHat OpenShift is a tightly Integrated Stack with Infrastructure as a Service, Operating System and Kubernetes working in tandem

• Simple and Unified interface to leverage power of Kubernetes without needed to learn Kubernetes

• An enterprise-grade Kubernetes distribution with hundreds of security, defect, and performance fixes in each release

• Validated popular storage and networking plug-ins for Kubernetes

• Automated operations from over-the-air updates for RedHat CoreOS and Kubernetes (coming soon)

Roadmap: Light-weight core OS designed for containers with easy upgrades in RedHat OpenShift 4.x

RedHat OpenShift provides container security capabilities on top of Db2 Security features to secure Data

Fully secure your data with powerful Db2 security along with integrated RedHat OpenShift Container security capabilities

Db2 Security• Supports Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt data in transit• Client-server communications are fully encrypted at both the network and

disk level

RedHat OpenShift Container Security:

• Leverage the security of RedHat OpenShift Platform to make containers for Db2 secure

Choose Storage options based on your performance and scalability needs and scale the storage as needed to reduce costs

Get High performance from your data while keeping the costs low with Db2 Multi-temperature storage support

• Frequently accessed data (hot data- fast storage) ->SAN• Infrequently accessed data (warm data - slightly slower storage) -> NFS• Rarely accessed data (cold data - slow, less-expensive storage) -> Cloud

Storage

Db2 on Open Shift Supports all Traditional Storage ( SAN for performance, NFS, Cluster file System such as GPFS and local disks

Roadmap:• Software Defined Storage which is native to RedHat OpenShift and Kubernetes

and a defined control plan manages the storage layer like dynamic provisioning, replication, snapshots, expansion etcPortworx and Ceph Certification targeted for Q1 2020

Db2 Trade-ups explainedExample #1 – Full containerization

Cloud Pak for Data

Source:

Customer begins with a perpetual license for 7,000 PVUs of IBM Db2 Enterprise Server Edition.

Target:

Customer purchases 100 units of trade-up part for 100 VPCs of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Db2.

Deployment Strategy:

Customer opts to fully containerize their Db2 deployment by migrating it into the Cloud Pak for Data environment, thereby utilizing all 100 VPCs of the cartridge license; There are no remaining cores to utilize towards other CP4D services.

Trade-up details:

For each unit of part number D260ALL that the customer purchases, they agree to suspend 70 units of their existing Db2 Enterprise Server Edition PVU license and thereby trade-up to the new Cloud Pak for Data Db2 cartridge.

* VPC = Virtual Processor Core

** PVU = Processor Value Unit

Source:

Customer begins with a perpetual license for 100 VPCs of IBM Db2 Advanced Edition.

Target:

Customer purchases 100 units of trade-up part for 100 VPCs of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Db2.

Deployment Strategy:

Customer opts to continue running their existing Db2 deployment non-containerized; this frees up the remaining 100 VPCs of Cloud Pak for Data Enterprise Edition to be utilized towards other services.

Trade-up details:

For each unit of the trade-up part that the customer purchases, they agree to suspend 1 units of their existing Db2 Advanced Edition VPC license and thereby trade-up to the new Cloud Pak for Data Db2 cartridge.
