STEPS I USE TO HELP YOU GET

    EQUIPMENT

    1. Email me to express interest:

[email protected] or [email protected] or

    [email protected]

    3. I will use that email address to communicate with you, even after I

establish an email address for you @educatemyalabama.com

    2. I will send you this form as a link for you to fill out so we can getyou set up. That link is Donors Choose Initial Contact

  • 8/6/2019 DC Intro Educate My Alabama

    15/34

    4. I try to work on a 3-day turnaround to get projects on the site in

the review process. You will receive an email from me with the

    following information:

    Your email address for @educatemyalabama.com

Your password for the Donors Choose website that matches that

    email address.

The unique URL to your page on Donors Choose. It will besomething similar to

    http://www.donorschoose.com/YourSchoolYourName

Name and Link to Your Live Project

    Total Cost of Your Project.

    Project Id Number.

Date Your Project Starts and Expires

    16/34

    WHILE YOUR PROJECT IS |LIVE}

    1. I will update you with any companies that are currently funding

    projects like yours.

    2. I will submit your projects to any companies, corporations or sites

that I know are helping teacher receive donations.

    3. If you have time and energy to submit your projects to various known

Donors, it is always helpful. I will provide you with an updated list of

those companies helping along the way.

    4. I will also update you as we near the end of your project or as yourproject receives funds.

    5. I will handle all thank you notes unless you specify that you

    want to do this.

  • 8/6/2019 DC Intro Educate My Alabama

    17/34

    WHEN YOUR PROJECT IS FUNDED!

    1. I will send you a celebratory email for you to validate that

you still need the equipment. If you do not need the equipment, I

suggest checking to see if one of your colleagues does. You will still

be responsible for the photos and any thank you notes by children

but I hate to see funded projects go back.

    2. You will have 5 days to return my email about the equipment. As

long as I have a good phone number, I will call you before I let one

be returned. I know many wont be a slave to their computers all

    summer like me.

    3. Once we have accepted the equipment, I will write a small thank you

note that is required by Donors Choose.

  • 8/6/2019 DC Intro Educate My Alabama

    18/34

    THANK YOU PACKAGES

Once Donors Choose acknowledges the intent to accept the equipment,I will send you the necessary components of the Thank You Package that

you will be responsible for completely.

I have a form email I use for this, it resembles the following:

Your Thank you letter for your project _______________________

Here is a step by step how-to for doing your Thank You package once you have a project fundedand you receive your goods.

Your Thank You Package is due on _____________________. (I am allowed to set the dates for

Thank You Package submissions. I will always use the date as late

as Donors Choose will allow. Since your situation is extremely unique,

I will definitely give you as much time as possible.

the equipment enthusiastically. Make sure you havepermissions slips to publish the photo of the

    students.

STEP TWO OF THE THANK YOU

    PACKAGE: IMPACT LETTER

    Step Two

I normally do this for the teachers, however, if you would like to do it

    Yourself, just let me know.

Write a thank-you letter conveying the impact this project has had on

your students. Here is an example. This goes on your project page so do

not use students names, staff names or location. This needs to be a

    minimum of 500

words. If you can get something started, I can help youmake it into 500 words (Im good at adding filler words to make articles

    meet word minimums.)

I have a sample of an impact letter on Educate My Alabama that you can

see if you would like to do write one yourself.

    STEP THREE OF THANK YOU

    PACKAGE: STUDENT LETTERS

**This section is not always required. I will send you the information if your donors

request these letters. They send you the mailing address on a postage paid label and

you only have to have 7 students take part in this step if it is required at all.

Step 3: Student Thank-You NotesHave your students write letters thanking the donors for the materials they have

received. You have_ donor who requires student thank-you letters and asked to be

addressed as: Name of Donor".NOTE: The list of donors may differ from the list on your project page. Not all donors receive, or

choose to receive, student thank-you letters. Donors only receive student thank-you letters if

they give $100 or more to a project or if they complete a project, regardless of the amount. In

some cases, donors meeting these criteria may opt out of receiving student thank you letters.

Please include 7 student letters per donor and do not allow students to include last names or

    the room number.

Group your students' letters together for each donor. Print the pre-paid mailing label

and mail the letters to DonorsChoose.org. We should have your package in our office

by the due date above. (I will attach the mailing label to the email I send you).

    2. If you Twitter, you can do much the same with the link, like

Student Work, see my projects at __________ use thesame link that you see in Number 1 but allow Twitter to

automatically shorten the URL so it all fits in 140 characters.

The new URL would look something like this

http://bit.ly/jCnmp7 . I used bit.ly to shorten that one, Twitter will

Sample Request for HelpJerri, thank you for your presentation for the Hackleburg teachers yesterday. I am one of

the two high school _____ teachers. My name is Susie Sunshine. These are the thingsthat I am hoping to get in any combination. Thats where I will need your help to get

    them:

Digital teaching microscope, elmo, projector, screen, printer, wireless computer, access to

united streaming (our school paid for this service this year for us...I am thinking that they

may give us a free year because we didn't get to finish the year with it). I had also

purchased an expensive subscription to A.D.A.M. for a year, and am hoping to get that

extended for another year if you can help with that. I can get the small stuff I'm sure.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Let me know what I need to do next.
