Firstly just a small bit about who we are……..

DCbikers was originally born Happyfrog, a small website and forum for bikers set up by our founder Frank Shaw in May 2005, he had a passion for many things but especially music, flying and bikes, Franks efforts were always 200% and his enthusiasm was infectious.

Sadly Frank died in a motorcycle accident in January 2006 and not wanting his efforts to fade away with his memories we decided to keep the forum and website going but thought happyfrog sounded a bit too gay for a bunch of bikers so decided to call it DCbikers (Devon & Cornwall bikers)…. I know, I know it still sounds gay but not as much… lol.

We are a friendly bunch, we don't bite and we welcome all new members of all riding abilities and whatever choice of ride.

Registering on the forum is totally free, we do not ask for any

membership fees.

We do however sell stickers at a £1 each to help fund the website and

forum, if you wish you can purchase them at http://www.dcbikers.co.uk/22.html or

We have various colours in Black, White, Yellow, Gold & Silver.

Since 2006 we have raised £886.62 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance, local businesses, bikers and their families have kindly donated their hard earned cash to help keep this invaluable service in the sky, we have ran half marathons, held quizzes, donated at rideouts and took part in rallies.

The photo on the left above is our latest fundraising effort with some of the DCbiker members taking down £200 to the Cornwall Air Ambulance HQ, the photo on the right above is us handing over a cheque for £686.62 which was raised by bikers friends and family just after Frank’s death.

We are also collecting voluntary donations of £1 each per rideout, many thanks to all that kindly donate.

Cornwall Air Ambulance

Brief overview of our night out.. DCBoys v DCGirls 12 pubs each (Different ends of town) 2 1/2 hour time limit (start time 8:30pm) Points for each pub visited & clues to pub locations provided This was a great success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed raising the money (well it involved drinking .. lol), everyone got into the spirit of the occasion and we managed to raise £169.75 collectively.

GIRLS TEAM RAISED = £80.54

BOYS TEAM RAISED = £89.21

It didn’t matter who won (NOT) in the end it was the taking part that counted and the real winner was the Breast Cancer charity.

FISHING

This event is being organised by Jay on the forum, it’s a 4 hour deep sea fishing excursion starting off from the Barbican in Plymouth. The cost is £24, all equipment is provided and spectators can come along for half price. Anyone is welcome to join us and the date penciled in is for Sunday 20th September. CAMPING

This is being organised by a_t on the forum, the plan is for us to go down to a campsite in Cornwall for 2 nights on the 10th & 11th July and have a rideout on the Saturday, anyone and their family are welcome, it’s cheap and we have a bbq planned, lots of drinking and games are planned too. It’s a good way to meet others from the forum.

KARTING

Kelly from SWB is organising a karting challenge to win franks trophy, we need 15 members from the forum to create a team, the date set for this is Sunday 1st November, Kelly needs to have £15 deposit by the end of July, the total cost is £30 and you get

BMAD organise bike nights to raise money for their chosen charity, every week from May to September hundreds of bikers congregate on the sea front to socialise, they pay a £1 donation to attend and this raises lots of money - last year they raised £30,192

This issue is dedicated to two forum members Jase & Frank who both

died in motorcycle accidents, whom without their help DCbikers would

not be what it is today…. RIP
