DESCRIPTION
/-s- ' S.
Overburden.
Non magnetic quartz biotite schist of the quartz rich and mica rich varieties. Sequence shows some folding and is intruded by innumerable white, feldspar pegmatites. Average schistosity at 70 degrees to core axis.Fracture patterns are of two general types: one at a very shallow angle to core axis, the other at 30 degrees to core axis. Fracture planes are commonly coated with calcite and pyrite. Slippage along planes of schistosity is also evident.Light green alteration zones in schist usually associated with the fracture system approximating the core axis. Alteration products are sericite, kaolin and minor chlorite.
Strongly magnetic, thinly banded iron formation with first five feet showing marked amounts of green actinolite with atten dant pyrite. Zone is highly folded.
Weakly to mediumly magnetic, thickly banded iron formation with alternating schist bands.
Mediumly magnetic, banded, folded iron formation with alternating weakly magnetic schist zones.
Non magnetic, quartz biotite schist.
Strongly magnetic, thinly banded, folded iron formation with some specular hematite.
Non magnetic quartz biotite schist with white pegmatite intru- sions throughout.
