SELECTION OF APPLICATION

BENEFITSBENEFITS Easy to handle.

Push and turn - Free-flow. Turn and pull - Closed.

TIME SAVING No need to drain hoses or pipe systems.

ECONOMICALNo loss or spillage of liquids at connection

or disconnection.

UNIQUE ADVANTAGE Anodised Aluminium with electrical conductivety

SAFETYThe valve cannot be opened until the unit

is coupled.

ENVIRONMENTALLY Accidental spillage eliminated.

INTEGRATED SWIVEL All sizes of the hose units are equipped with an

integrated swivel function - allows the hose to relax to it´s natural rest position whilst allowing freedom of movement without imparting torque stress at the point of connection - Torque stress is the largest single cause of PTFE and stainless steel convoluted hose failure.

New improvements on our couplings There is no longer any technical differences between the chemical and the petroleum version. The main improvement with our couplings in Aluminium, Brass and gunmetal are that all wetted parts are in stainless steel and equipped with PTFE gliderings. That means that the Aluminium couplings have no yellow parts (brass).

BSP / NPT. TECHNICAL DIFFERENCES IN THREADS?

Advantages BSP: The threads are parallel with flat sealing surface. This allows to use the full thread length for screwed-on parts. The largest possible transfer of force is guaranteed for short length. The thread seal behind the relief groove of the thread cannot drop out. Simple screwing down makes a safe connection. Subsequent tightening during operation is possible at any time. Change of seal and new assembly do not require any expert knowledge. The European standardisations for hose assemblies require parallel threads with flat seals, because of the advantages.

Disadvantages NPT:Hose fittings with tapered internal and external threads, like NPT or DIN 2999, have normally no flat sealing surface. The screwed-on thread jams before the end of the counter thread is covered. Therefore a sealing with thread seal is not possible. The overall length of such a connection is always longer than the equivalent flat sealing system. - Previously the sealing of tapered threads was done with hemp and liquid sealing compounds. Today mainly PTFE tapes are used. A safe and promptly tight connection requires expert knowledge and clean work and is time-consuming. Subsequent tightening during operation is not possible. A new assembly requires the proper cleaning of the pitch from all squashed and hardened remains of the sealing compounds.

SPILLAGE ON DISCONNECTION

The test was made by coupling and uncoupling 10 times under pressures between one (1) and ten (10) bars. The result we got is a total spillage over 10 coupling cycles and an average spillage on each coupling cycle. The test was carried out with water under ambient temp.

The couplings are operated by connecting the Hose unit onto the Tank unit and rotating it clockwise. This action secures the units together and forms a gas-tight and leak-proof seal.At the same time, the internal valves opens, allowing the media to flow through.

Each Tank unit contains a “fail safe” spring loaded valve seating on a tapered seat. The valve is controlled by the action of coupling and uncoupling the base unit. The principle of opera-tion is identical for all sizes of DDCouplings®.

BUILT IN PRESSURE RELIEF VALVUE IN TANK UNIT.

Function: When you start to connect the hose unit, the hose unit piston moves forward and pushes on the pressure relief valves piston (pos 1). Now the pressure relief valves is open and the pressure between the tank unit and the hose unit is equalized. Then you have no problem to proceed with the connection.

+ You will not have problems to connect the hose unit when there is fluid under high pressure in the tank unit or if there is incompressable fluid caught between the valve and the tank unit.

- You will get a small reduction in flowrate and a small spillage.

To prevent accidental mixing of media, selectivity versions of hose and tank units are availible. The tank unit are furnished with slots and hose units with pins. A number ofselictivity positions are possible depending on coupling size.

Table of selectivity positions:

The major oil companies have agreed to use the following selectivity positions foraviations refuelling. For the 2½”, 3” and 4” sizes.

Swivels

Simple construction Each unit consists of two body halves, stainless steel

balls and a single spring assiste O-ring seal.

Compact external dimensions

Minimal maintenance requirements

Unique advantage Anodised Aluminium with electrical conductivety

SafetySwivel function - allows the hose to relax to

it´s natural rest position whilst allowing freedom of movement without imparting torque stress at the point of connection - Torque stress is the largest single cause of PTFE and stainless steel convoluted hose failure.

EconomicalCost effective solution to prolong lifetime

of hoselines.
