Greater Philadelphia Cares
September 20th, 2008
Below are just a few of the charitable events the Sigma Chapter participated in this Fall semester.
The Sigma Chapter was paired up through Greater Philadelphia Cares, and members performed Park Cleanup, painted over graffiti, trimmed hedges and pulledweeds in the Kensington West Neighborhood Association of Philadelphia.
Ray of Rope
October 11th, 2008
Ray of Hope Project is rehabilitating deteriorated homes, and providing homeowners and volunteers with hope and a sense of unity. Members helped to restore structures that were previously not only a community eye-sore, but also in such a state of disre-pair as to be unhealthy and unsafe for residents and neighbors.
Philabundance
November 8th, 2008
Philabundance works to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by acquiring food and distributing it through organizations serving people in need. Members helped pack bags of Rice Crispy Treats and greeting cards for senior citizens. This event was a joint effort with the Delaware Valley Chapter of RIMS
Neighborhood Bikeworks
October 4th, 2008
N e i g h b o r h o o d B i k e Works' (NBW) mission is to pro-mote youth development by offering educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities through bicy-cling. Members had the opportunity to help organize the headquarters, clean all the necessary components, and help build a clean environment for the children this charity supports.
