Beck’s Sports Grill on College Hill and Beck’s Sports Brewery on University Avenue are showing The Super Bowl on February 7th.

Customers are able to watch all the big plays, hard hits and also have a chance to win amazing prizes every quarter.

“It is one of those days we circle on our calendar every year,” says General Manager, Ryan Drewes of Beck’s Sports Grill. “It feels like a national holiday, we are full of football fans, it’s loud and exciting. It’s just too bad that people have to go to work on Monday.”

Beck’s will be featuring food and drink specials all day. The area’s best burger will be on special, the quarter-pound Beckster burger will be $5.99, the half-pound burger is $6.99 and the one-pound XL Beckster burger is $8.99 and each includes one side. Pitchers of Bud Light, Bud Light Golden Wheat, Goose Island Seasonal, and Sam Adams Seasonal are $5.00 at Beck’s College and $5.00 pitchers of microbrews at Beck’s University.

After each quarter, Beck’s will be giving away cash prizes, gift cards from Scheels and Beck’s, items from Bud Light, and a $200 gift cer-tificate to Stub Hub. The Stub Hub gift certificate will be given out at the completion of the game. “This is the first time we have given away Stub Hub gift certificates. The cool thing is that the winner can use them on any game or on concerts if they want,” explains Drewes.

Beck’s will also have customers playing the 100 squares game for a chance to win cash. So the winner of The Super Bowl this year doesn’t matter, because everyone has a chance to win at Beck’s. For more information about the specials and giveaways, go to www.barmuda.com and click the logo of either location to see the details.

Darin Beck and Barmuda Companies are pleased to announce the coming of a third Beck’s Sports Grill location in Cedar Falls. A recent offer to sell was accepted by Beck to purchase Neighbor’s Pub & Grill Restaurant and Lounge in Thunder Ridge Center from Mark Dunkelburger, Neighbor’s owner. Plans are to transform the neighbor-hood sports bar into a Beck’s brand concept. As the new store opens, a new and improved menu will be unveiled at all Beck’s locations. Upgrades to the Neighbor’s location will begin immediately with an opening date scheduled for sometime in the com-ing weeks. The new Beck’s will employ approximately 40 people. Those who were employed at Neighbor’s have been told they are welcome to interview.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Thunder Ridge neigh-borhood,” Beck says. “We weren’t looking for a third Beck’s location, however, an opportunity presented it-self. Some of the Barmuda leadership team call that area home, and we have a lot of friends who live out there too. It’s important that this area has a nice family friendly restaurant.” Beck opened the first Beck’s Sports Brewery in Waterloo and his locations have been a des-tination for good food and family meals for almost a decade.

Beck’s is known for their truly unique burger menu featuring more than fifteen burgers including their award-winning Beckster Burger, voted Best of the Best eight years in a row. Strengthening plans to franchise the Beck’s Restaurant brand, this location provided an opportunity to create a smaller strip mall version of the concept and will work perfectly to show potential franchisees what a smaller Beck’s could look like.

In time for the opening, Beck’s will introduce a new menu featuring options for smaller portions and healthy choices. The menu will continue to feature the signa-ture soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, steaks, burgers and more that have made Beck’s a best locally owned restaurant, as voted in the 2009 Courier Best of the Best competition.

“It’s important for us to offer wholesome options to our guests,” said Beck. “People are seeking healthier dining options, and we’d like to make that a little easier for our guests with our new menu. Our new menu will also feature more new wing sauces to choose from as well as some new appetizers perfect for game time.”

The other Becks locations include the original Beck’s Sports Brewery on University Ave. in Waterloo and Beck’s Sports Grill on College Hill in Cedar Falls. All locations will be open for lunch, dinner, and late night seven days a week.

Interested job applicants may apply online now at www.barmuda.com/Becks.

Barmuda has scheduled a full line up of promotions for Fat Tuesday that falls on February 16th. Fat Tuesday is the final celebration of Mardi Gras and planning to be treated as such at various Barmuda locations.

Bourré Lounge, Ice Lounge, Mojo’s Pizza House and Voodoo Lounge are all cele-brating the annual bash. “Celebrating Fat Tuesday at Bourre and Voodoo Lounge are a must because of their thematic influence, but Ice and Mojo’s are nice ad-ditions because of their location on the College Hill, by allowing college students to enjoy the festivities,” says Matt Smiley COO of Barmuda Companies.

Bourré and Voodoo Lounge will feature $4.00 Hurricanes and $3.00 tallboys all night. The first 100 guests receive free party favors, and customers may participate in games that could win them free bottle service as well as tickets for Easter Brunch on April 4th, except for the Grinnell market. Bourré Lounge and Voodoo Lounge in Cedar Falls will feature live music at 9 p.m. The Hippy Zippers will be performing at Voodoo Lounge and Sugarfoot will take the stage in Bourré Lounge.

Mojo’s will be doing what they do best…throwing an outrageous party. They are keeping their free beer special and adding $15.00 Mojo’s buckets of hurricanes. Guests have the opportunity to win $100 cash for collecting the most beads that night.

Ice Lounge is tempting your mysterious side with a masquerade ball. Staff members will be masked similar to those celebrating in New Orleans. The first 100 guests will receive a free mask. Ice will feature $4.00 Hurri-canes, $2.00 domestic bottles and shots of Southern Comfort. Admission is free all night.

Cavanagh on Friday, February 26th and Saturday, February 27th in Cedar Falls . Cavanagh is best known for his work on the syndicat-ed radio program, The Bob and Tom Show.

“I am excited to have such a distinguished performer at Joker’s,” comments Alex Meyer, General Manager of Joker’s. “It’s funny, you hear and see this guy on radio and television but now he is performing in front of you. It doesn’t get any better.”

Tim Cavanagh, a high school teach-er turned stand up comedian, has been playing concert halls, college campuses and nightclubs al l over the countr y. When asked the differ-ence between comedy and teaching, “Not surprisingly, I found the biggest differ-ence between the classroom and the night-club was the drunks--which I generally let the principal handle,” Tim added. Tim has had fea-tured specials on Comedy Central and a p-pearances on ABC-TV, Showt ime, WGN and Comcast. He has released a number of comedy CD’s and written the book “Chicken Soup for the Vegetarian Soul.”

Showtime is 8:30 p.m. and the doors open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door the day of the show.

>> Continued from p. 1; Valentine’s Day “His show is high energy, he gets the audience involved and it is unbeliev-ably hilarious,” comments Scott Davis, Director of Operations & Entertain-ment. “We are pleased to have The Sandman Friday, Saturday and Sunday.” The Sandman is renowned as one of the finest comedy hypnotists in the industry. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at www.barmuda.com/jokers for $8.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door.

Voodoo Lounge in Cedar Falls, Bourbon Street in Grinnell and Bourré Lounge in Waterloo are opening on Sunday evening to allow couples to enjoy a charming evening of cocktails and live music. Sip on $5.00 martinis or glasses of wine with $2.00 off the regular price. Bourbon Street Grinnell welcomes the band Ashanti starting at 5 p.m. At Voodoo Lounge in Ce-dar Falls, Adam Beck takes the stage and Zach Thoma performs at Bourre Lounge in downtown Waterloo. Both shows start at 10 p.m.

For those who desire something more relaxed and romantic, The Stuffed Olive will be offering $2.00 off martinis and glasses of wine from 10 p.m. until close referred to as The Late Night Lovers Happy Hour.

Ice Lounge and Mojo’s Pizza House are trying to bring singles together with the Ice Lounge “Ice Breaker” and the Mojo’s Traffic Light Party. Ice Lounge will be highlighting X-Rated Liquor and using the connotations for drink recipe themes. The staff, already known for the risqué style of uniform, will be dressed provocatively as part of the theme. Mojo’s will be using colored beads to communicate to possible partners. Guests can choose between red, yellow or green beads; red means ‘taken’, yellow means ‘unsure’ and green means ‘available’. The nice perk to this style of match game is it removes the guesswork for those who are single. Mojo’s special will be $3.00 progressive pitchers, $12.00 Mojo’s buckets and $3.00 stop light shots.

Whether you have love and want to take that person for a special night out on the town or are looking for love in all the right places, the Barmuda locations have everything you could hope for.

Ferrari’s introduces an opportunity for those searching for an exclusive dining experience. It’s “An Evening at the Chef’s Table”, a meal that is customized for the proprietor of the evening and their guests by the chef of Fer-rari’s.

“’An Evening at the Chef’s Table’ is a unique way to dine,” explains Joel Smits, General Man-ager of Ferrari’s Ristorante. “Once the meal is selected, the chef will create four to six more courses to accompany the main course. Each course is then paired with a bottle of wine that compliments the cuisine.”

“An Evening at the Chef’s Table” was created as a fantastic way for someone to entertain guests. Parties up to 10 will be seated in Fer-rari’s kitchen and parties of 11 to 20 will be seated in the private dining room.

Dates of the event will be available upon request, some dates may not be available. For more infor-mation contact Bridget Bryson, Director of Sales and Events at (319) 266-9994.

On Friday, February 26th Park Place Event Cen-tre presents “Dyin’ to Win!” Murder Mystery Din-ner Theater. “Incredibly excited,” comments Bridget Bryson, Director of Sales and Events, when asked about the event. “This is the sec-ond time that we are doing a murder mystery in the past year, and the first one was so much fun we decided to do it again.”

The premise of the show is, “It’s awards night, and all of the celebrities are in attendance to walk the red carpet,” adds Bryson; “There is the Hollywood sweetheart, the independent movie actress, and of course, the aging screen siren. The three women seem friendly, but no one knows what kind of skeletons they are hid-ing in their dressing rooms! Of course, only one of them can win the coveted award, and af-ter the announcement is made, things go downhill quickly. It’s drama that only Hollywood divas can create…”

Tickets for the show include complimentary hors d’oeuvres, salad, entrée, dessert and a free drink ticket. Tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple. Participants are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m.
