SIMPLE PRESENT En este trabajo vamos a trabajar el tiempo verbal Simple Present, vamos a conocer su conjugación y los diferentes usos que tiene.
Simple Present is the tense (tiempo verbal) that we use to talk about the present.For example:
Spanish EnglishEl es Juan. He is Juan.Juan va a la escuela a la mañana. Juan attends the school in the morning shift. Ellos viven en Almagro. They live in Almagro.
Simple Present uses:
We use the Present Simple to talk about:- permanent states,- our daily routine, - general truths.
For example: - Mia lives with her parents and her sister (permanent state)- Mia usually plays video games (daily routine)- In football matches every team has 11 players (general truth).
Simple Present Structure :
We can divide the Simple Present into two categories:1- Simple Present To Be 2- Simple Present All Verbs
1- Verb To Be means “ser o estar”. For example:
Spanish EnglishYo soy Pablo. I'm Pablo.Es tarde. It is late. Mia es mi amiga. Mia is my friend.Mis padres están ocupados. My parents are busy.
Verb To Be takes different forms according to the subject. For example:
I am curious. You are fantastic!Lucas is at home. We are students. You are all my friends.They are in class.
Verb To Be can be affirmative, negative or interrogative (Yes/No Questions and WH Questions).

IMPORTANT: in dialogues and informal texts, To Be becomes a contraction. We make the contraction with ‘ : ‘m, ‘re, ‘s, etc...

Es necesario recordar que en las oraciones afirmativas en Simple Present, si el sujeto corresponde a la tercera persona del singular (o sea, si el sujeto se refiere a He/ She / It) debemos agregarle una -S o _ES al verbo.
Por lo general, se agrega -s al verbo, pero existen algunas excepciones.En el siguiente cuadro aparecen detalladas:
Pay attention!!!!If we write an interrogative or negative sentence with third person singular subject, we mustn´t add -S or -ES to the verbs.
