And the youngest member, Everett Sr. truly pursued our father’s career by specializing in construction. He built his own home from scratch within walking distance of our parents. He was inspired by our father to raise his family with the same values that were instilled in all of us. He also has some college to his credit. He resides in Brazoria. Our father, alongside our mom, was always supportive of whatever our interest may have been as we were growing up. The two of them made it to every function be it school or church related, and they were there for us kids throughout the uncertain times following the integration of the public schools. Our dad and mom made us feel safe even when we were miles away from them, sitting in a classroom of unfamiliar faces, not really knowing what to expect while listening to teachers who did not know our culture. Faith in God was taught to us with vigor. We were regular church goers in the Baptist faith. We attribute a lot of our leadership development skills to our participation in the church. Our dad always had a Bible verse or some anecdote that he would quote just at the right time to make a point. Our dad had a no-nonsense approach to which we believe he was intimidated by absolutely no one. What a pair! Our parents taught us to be responsible for our actions, to love, to be free to share whatever we had and to be open to receive from others the same with a sense of pride and humility. That, at the end of the day, our character spoke more loudly than our words. Our mom was a stay-at-home mom while raising us kids but made sure that her daughters would be secure in their choices to have a career and raise a family. Our dad worked in construction and eventually formed his own company where he poured concrete for homes, driveways and such.” L C Wright will always be our inspirational HERO! Our dad still is the most influential person in our lives. He raised us to be free to be whatever we wanted to be while placing an emphasis on a good education and a willingness to work hard. God called the oldest son, Lawrence Jr., home at the age of nineteen due to an auto accident. Elmo, the second born, dared to be a professional football player and was drafted in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs who were the Super Bowl Champs at the time. Upon completion of his football career, Elmo earned a Master of Business Administration degree and worked as a Chief of Staff for a Harris County Commissioner. Evelyn (deceased), the third in the birth order, earned a Master of Science degree at the insistence our mom. She later served as President and CEO of the agency that sponsors the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs for the county of Brazoria. Next in the birth order was a set of twins, Charles and Cheryl. Charles with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree makes his home in Houston. He worked as a Sales Consultant for several new home builders for 20 + years; but, now he works in real estate. He takes pride like his dad in raising his children to succeed in professional sports and sports medicine. Inspired by her dad, Cheryl with a Business Administration degree developed her skills as a CAD Tech Specialist for drafting plans that were used to develop the AT & T’s cable system and retired after 41 years. She resides in Freeport. Following the twins is a boy, Harry, who also worked in real estate with his brother. He currently pursues a career in the retail industry. He also does officiating in the sports of football, softball and basketball. He has four years of college and resides in Richmond. Following this brother is a sister, Antoinette. Inspired by her dad to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree specializing in Management Information Systems (MIS), she initially worked in the banking industry.
