Dear AWLC 2017 Attendees: With the workshop fast approaching, here is important practical information to read before your arrival at SLAC: 1) Access to SLAC: SLAC is open to all visitors with a scientific purpose to be on site. The Main Gate of SLAC is located at 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, CA. To enter the site, show the guard a valid photo ID (e.g. passport, driver’s license, university ID) and explain that you are attending AWLC 17. 2) Venue: The center of the AWLC 17 meeting is the Kavli Auditorium, on the ground floor of the Kavli building, bldg. 51, ahead and just to your right as you enter the Main Gate. Registration will be in front of the Kavli Auditorium and coffee breaks will be held there. The plenary sessions (except for Thursday afternoon) will be held in the Kavli Auditorium. Parallel sessions of the workshop will be held in the Kavli Auditorium, in the 3 rd floor conference room of the Kavli building, in the Redwood Room, on the first floor of bldg. 48 just behind the Kavli building, and in the Madrone Room, on the 2 nd floor of bldg. 48. The main SLAC administration building is bldg. 53 (SUSB), just ahead as you enter the Main Gate. The Thursday afternoon plenary will be held there. Also, the SLAC Café is on the 2 nd floor of bldg. 53. You will see bldgs. 48, 51, and 53 at the top of the attached site map (also available at https://vue.slac.stanford.edu/slac-visitor-map . 3) Registration Check-In: You may pick up your workshop nametag and registration packet starting at 8 AM on June 26, 2017 at the conference registration desk outside the Kavli Auditorium. Please wear your nametag throughout the event. 4) Opening Formalities: Due to the omnibus nature of this event, there will not be a formal opening session on Monday morning, June 26. After registering, please go immediately to your parallel session, which will begin at 9:00 am. The opening plenary session and welcome will be on Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm in the Kavli Auditorium. 5) Parking: On-site parking is free, but there are a limited number of spots available due to ongoing construction projects at SLAC. Early arrival and carpooling is advised. To find a large parking lot, turn right after entering the Main Gate and drive past bidg. 48 and around the lawn behind it. 6) Food Options: Morning and afternoon coffee & refreshment breaks will be provided each day to registered workshop participants in the courtyard in front of the Kavli Auditorium. Lunch is not included with the workshop registration. You can purchase lunch in the SLAC Café in bldg. 53 or at the Starbucks outside the Stanford Guest House. With the workshop fast approaching, here is important practical information to read before your arrival at SLAC:

In your registration packet, you will find 5 yellow lunch tickets for the SLAC Cafe. These will not actually buy you lunch. However, please turn in a ticket in the marked basket when you enter the SLAC Café. These document our presence and insure that enough lunch is available for our group.

7) Social Events: All workshop attendees are invited to join the welcome receptionon Monday, June 26 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. This will be held on the patio on the2nd floor of bldg. 53, just outside the SLAC Café.

The conference dinner will take place at Trellis Restaurant in Menlo Park at 6:30pm on Thursday, June 29. Reservations are required. If you have reserved ticketsfor the dinner, they will be in your registration packet. Pending any last minutecancellations, tickets will be available to purchase at the registration desk onMonday. If you need a ride to Trellis, please ask us to arrange one.

9) Wireless Access at SLAC: Wi-Fi access is available via the SLAC Visitor Network:http://www2.slac.stanford.edu/comp/net/wireless/. This network is outside theSLAC firewall, so no password is required. You need only complete the registrationform.
