Dear Community of Joy, We started the year 2015 with a theme verse: Psalm 126:3 “e Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy!” As we look back over the year that was, we are reminded of enormous losses in our own church family and in the world around us. Heaven is richer, and we are impoverished by the losses of some of our very greatest leaders. I know I am not alone in missing their loving counsel and gracious spirits. eir gifts of music, teaching and preaching have left us longing for more time with them. Like you I did not know what 2015 held when I chose that verse for our theme. I am convinced, though, that God knew exactly what this year would hold. After baptizing one of our newest believers, I noticed his parents posted this very verse on Facebook. God has indeed done great things for us. We have lost much, but our loved ones who have graduated to heaven are not lost at all. So we grieve, but not hopelessly. As we close out this year together, I am thankful for our 2020 focus on relationships. Everywhere I have looked this year, I have seen God building up community at Tallowood. God is bringing new friends to share life and ministry with us. We have new brothers and sisters in Christ. God has added new children and new children of God to our family. So once again my gratitude prevails over my grief. Our sorrow is only great because our loved ones were such amazing gifts from God. And we will see them again, the next time without interruption for eternity. Surely when we gather with them in glory someday, we will look at each other and then lift our eyes to the throne and say, “e Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.” In His Hope, Therefore, if anyone is in new creation, Christ he is a the old has gone the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 Events Jan. 3 Blood Drive Jan. 3 TAFA Spring Semester Begins Jan. 7 Pastor’s Winter Bible Study 11:00 a.m. • Activities Center Jan. 10 Bible Drill Begins 5:30 p.m. • WT214-216 Jan. 12 Moonlight Missions 6:45 p.m. • Fireplace Room Jan. 14 Hudson Mann Prayer Breakfast 6:30 a.m. • Fellowship Hall West Jan. 15 55+ Afternoon at the Movies “War Room” • 1:30 p.m. • ET104 Jan. 17 Membership Discovery Class 10:00 a.m. • WT315 Jan. 24 Committee of Committees • 4:15 p.m. Church Business Conference • 5:00 p.m. Chapel Reception Hall Jan. 28 Pastor’s Winter Bible Study 11:00 a.m. • Activities Center
