DEBUT ALBUM

On the surface the album comes across

as a feel good, upbeat collection of

songs that are designed to get the foot

tapping and the melodies floating

around your head. Scratch that surface

just a little and you will find lyrics

based on grief, nostalgia, love, loss,

humour and hope, that will bring a tear

to the eye, a smile to the face and a nice

big tug on the heart. Stories are hard to

tell, but easy to sing. This album tells

you its story and it wears its heart on its

sleeve. Just maybe you will find some of

yourself in there too.

FARRAGO aims to spread a message of

positivity and good times in a way only

they can. Drawing on a variety of styles

and influences, they've developed an

eclectic sound of hook filled melodies

and driving rhythms all designed to put

a spring back in people's step.

Based in sunny Singapore, the outfit

comprises of vocalist/guitarist Dave

Hawkes, bassist Miwa Furukawa,

drummer Tristan North and lead

guitarist Jonathan Suresh.

FARRAGO can trace their beginnings

back to early 2012, when Dave met

Jonathan through a mutual friend who

needed decent musicians who would

play a gig for no money. After a suitably

disastrous first outing, Dave and

Jonathan realised they had much in

common (see: a love of music, football

and beers) and decided to keep in touch.

After a few impromptu jams over lagers,

Dave declared that he wanted to start a

rock band, simultaneously announcing

his early-onset midlife crisis. Being

terribly suggestible after a few drinks,

Jonathan agreed. A short while after

which Dave helpfully suggested, “a

drummer might be nice.” Enter Tristan,

skinsman extraordinaire and once

described as “the best thing to come out

of Australia since Vegemite.” Okay, not

really. But the band had now begun to

take shape and the search for a bassist

was on. A couple of months later, Dave

related to the rest that he actually knew

a rather talented bassist who was easy

on the eyes, asking if they were keen on

her joining the band. Jonathan and

Tristan immediately agreed, excitedly

exclaiming, “you might have bloody told

us two months ago, you prat.” Miwa

then began rehearsing with the band,

fitting like a glove and picking up the

songs with ease. A master of design, she

then proceeded to create the bands

image. FARRAGO was well on its way.
