Here’s a trivia question;

do librarians have all

the answers?

Librarians do not have all the answers but they know where to find them!

And now they can find them for you, even if you are not in our building. If

you have visited the library’s webpage recently you may have seen the

floating “Ask a Question” box. That box is powered by Mosio which allows

the user to live chat, text or email a question directly to our Reference Desk.

The service is available on both the desktop and mobile version of our web-

site. As the cold days of winter approach, we are ready to answer your ques-

tions without you ever having to get out from under the covers. For now,

replies will be answered during the library’s operating hours (see back cov-

er). If asking a question when we are closed, you will be put into a queue.

On Sunday, October 26th the library held a family trivia afternoon hosted by

TriviaAD. The questions related to the movie Frozen. A wonderful time was had

by the over 50 people in attendance. Many came dressed up, including the

Library’s Director (pictured left) in an Olaf shirt!

The 6th grade SEARCH class students presented Cliffside Park Li-

brary Director, Stephanie Bellucci, with a check for $555. The

monies will be used to purchase children’s books for our collec-

tion. During the 2013-2014 school year, students in Mrs. Luder-

er’s and Mr. Leighton’s classes participated in the Stock Market

Game. They created a toy business and sold items to students in

Schools 3,4,5 and 6. The students and teachers would like to

thank the parents for supporting the sale and they encourage all

families to visit our wonderful library.

DIRECTOR’S SIDE

By the time you read this the major shopping holidays will

be just weeks away. For me, these weeks are all about even-

ing outings to the mall, busily prepping, followed by cele-

brating and then quickly breaking it all down until next year.

Although I work here, I use the library as a respite to calm

down and enjoy the holiday season and I am sure you can

too.

Between your visits to the mall, de-stress at our weekly

yoga and Qigong classes. Or, just stop by to see our decora-

tions. Then, wrap up the season by coming to a concert of

holiday music performed on the piano by a talented pianist.

On December 26th I work quickly the get my decorations

down and put away so I can go into hibernation mode. The

fact that I cannot be in flip flops on the weekends or bask in

the sunshine well after I get home in the evening are the

reason I dislike winter. Do you feel the same way? Again, the

library is the place I go and you can too. Interact with people

in a book group, brush up on trending parenting topics or

keep up with your children’s play dates by enrolling them in

one of our many children’s classes.

“He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer

will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in the win-

ter,” said John Burroughs. I am going to assume he is right,

however I will wonder and admire from the library’s win-

dows – care to join me?

Best, Stephanie M. Bellucci, Library Director

WARM UP TO A NEW RELEASE

Oh what fun it is to … buy!

Children may often forget to include books on their holiday wish list. If you want to get the child in

your life a book and do not know where to begin, our librarians are hard at work making a list and checking it

twice. The librarian created buying guides will offer selections arranged to recommend for age, gender, read-

ing level and the like. Additionally, our librarians can steer you toward where to purchase the titles. Many of

the titles are already in our collection or will be added. So, if you just cannot choose one—get them all, via a

free library card of course! If you are not the child’s legal guardian, you can simply

wrap up a copy of our Student Card Signup Sheet (found at cliffsidepark.bccls.org/

downloads/StudentCardSignup.pdf) and they will be on their way to using their

free public library (card must be obtained in the town of residency). If you would

rather donate a book to a child in need, consider donating to Bridge of Books.

Bridge of Books is a 501(c)(3) organization that donates new and gently used

books to underprivileged and at-risk children throughout New Jersey (visit

bridgeofbooksfoundation.org for more information).
