    Christs Corner

    Psalm 51:12 Restore

unto me the joy of thy

    salvation; and uphold me

    with thy free spirit.

    Let's face it! Christians

    are not happy, joyful, and

    bubbly all the time.

    Some times we get beat

down by the cares of this

    world, by the worries of

this life, and, by the trials

of trying to just get by.

    Thankfully we have a

Savior who understands. We have someone who

    can be touched when we

are in pain. We have our

    LORD who can mend all

    our troubles. We know

    God who can, and will,

do what it takes to help

    his children.

We, I, tend to lose sightof the overall picture

    when we are overly con-

    cerned with the troubles

of this life. We get so

    involved with the things

    of this world, we lose

    sight of our rewards on

    the other side.

    Thank God! He can

restore what we havelost. He can help when

    others are helpless. He

    can save when no one,

    and, nothing else can.

    Yes! Thank God! Jesus

    can restore what is bro-

    ken. He can renew what

    is worn out and cast

    aside. He can remake

what is useless intosomething that will bring

    glory unto himself.

    There fore Christian, lets

    try to stay strong and

    depend upon His free

    spirit to uphold us.

    God does love us, in

    spite of what the devil

    throws our way.

    We were inspired by

    those individuals whose

    lives are spent living

    without a roof daily, the

    struggles they face, and

    the opportunity to be a

    voice for those who are

    without one. A Night

    Without a Roof

    encourages people to

    experience a night

    sleeping on Lafayette

    Square in a cardboard

box in order to raiseawareness and dona-

    tions for the homeless

    of Troup County. It will

    begin on December 4th

    at 4 p.m. and end

    December 5th at 8 a.m.

    Those interested in par-

    ticipating can call

    Denna Muncy, at (762)

822-1712 or reserve aspot by sending a mes-

    sage to the Troup

    County Homeless

    Coalition Facebook

    page. The cost to spend

    the night is $25.

    The Troup County

    Homeless Coalition was

    dismayed to discover

    that there are so many

    homeless teens, families

    and individuals in our

    county. This is a hid-

    den problem yet one

    that exists. Our shelters

    are busting at the seams

    and as the colder

    weather approaches the

    struggle to find room to

    bring them in is real.

    Last year the TCHC

    used the old Fire

    Station on Main Streetas a Warming Center;

    this year however the

    coalition has yet to

    secure a place to open

    the second Warming

    Center.

    As the cold weather

    approaches and so

many are left without aroof the coalition hopes

    that anyone who has a

    building will graciously

    share it with the TCHC

    to help those in need

    when the weather drops

    below freezing.

    Troup County HomelessCoalition hopes to

    recruit teams of people

    from churches, busi-

    nesses, and other organ-

    izations who are willing

to spend the night in the

    hope of awakening

    Troup County

    to the growing problem

    of homelessness.

    Beginning at 4 p.m.

    those involved in the

    event will build houses

out of cardboard. Thosewho live in homeless-

    ness will engage in con-

    versations with our par-

    ticipants as well as

    guests of the event.

    It should be interesting

    to see how two worlds

    exist parallel to each

    other. There is the

    world of an audience

    driving home from

    work, going out, having

fun, and the harsh reali-ty of those having

    nowhere to go, wander-

    ing around as

    temperatures drop. We

    will also have live

    music, games and soup

    for those wishing to be

a part of the venue but

    not spend the night

    The goal of this project

    is threefold. First, we

    want our participants to

    experience what it

might be like to live onthe street without much

    food, money, or home

    to go to during the

    night. Second, we want

    to raise awareness about

    the issues of homeless

    youth, families and

    individuals in the com-

    munity. And third, we

want to raise money forthe Troup County

    Homeless Coalition to

    provide assistance to

    our local shelters and

    those they serve. The

    coalition is sponsoring a

    Food Drive for Feeding

    the Valley, the local

Food Bank, as well as a

    Blanket, Hat, Gloves,Socks and Can-Opener

    Drive. People are

    asked to bring dona-

    tions to the LaGrange

    Police Department,

    Action Bldgs.,

    LaGrange Housing

    Authority, Emmaus

    House-LaGrange,

    Feeding the Valley,

    Fellowship Deliverance

    Outreach Ministries,

    Ark Refuge, or the

    Government Center

    throughout the winter

    season.
