DECEMBER 17th, 2017 THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT SECOND COLLECTION - Christmas Gift to the Church The second collection today will be your Christmas gift to St. Michael’s. We are so grateful for the generosity of all our parishioners throughout the year!! We ask each parishioner to be as generous as possible to help our parish as we celebrate Christmas. Thank You & Merry Christmas! CHRISTMAS TREE - LIGHTING "THANK YOU" We thank all those who helped to make our annual "Tree Lighting" such a Beautiful Night!! Especially our New York City Firefighters (Ladder 114), who helped to welcome our special guests!! We also thank New York City Police Officers of the 72nd Precinct, who are always there to help us and keep us safe. We thank Mr. Harris and our children's choir and all the Parish Staff & Volunteers, especially the young volunteers from the Jornada and CCJ Youth Groups. Especially Noel Vasquez and the Youth Leaders, whom helped to make our celebration "shine even more brightly" with the Lights of Inspiration Christmas Tree Program, adding the beautifully lighted Trees and wreaths (the wreaths will be hung in Church). We especially thank ALL the Businesses, families, & others who "sponsored" a Christmas Tree or wreath as part of the Lights of Inspiration Program, raising funds for College Scholarships for the young people of our parish & community. We will have more details on the Donations and publish the list of Donors in the coming weeks, so we can thank each donor personally for their wonderful generosity!! THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE-Thank You! We had a wonderful celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We thank our "Guadalupe Committee" for all their hard work and planning to make the whole celebration so Beautiful! We thank those who decorated the Church so Beautifully!!! We thank Mr. Harris and our adult choir, the CCJ Music Ministry, all of our ministers, lectors, servers, ushers, parish leaders and volunteers who worked together to make the Feast a true Blessing for our parish and all those who attended. We also thank all the local businesses who donated food and contributed so generously in many ways. This year we were especially Blessed by the presence of Fr. Francisco Javier Martinez, of the Archdiocese of Puebla, Mexico. We thank Fr. Francisco for his beautiful homilies, his prayers and his priestly ministry. It is truly inspiring to see so many who want to serve and help out in any way they can as a way of expressing their love for out Blessed Mother, our Lady of Guadalupe. CONFESSIONS IN ADVENT - WED. DEC. 20TH We will have additional opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) during the Season of Advent. On Wednesday, December 20th, Confessions will be available in Church from 6:30 - 8:30pm. On Saturday, December 23rd there will be Confessions as usual at 4:00pm and also 7:00pm and on Sunday, Dec. 24th at 6:30am (before the 7:00am Mass). We will continue hearing Confessions during the Mass, if necessary. ADULT CONFIRMATION Any adult who has received Baptism and Holy Communion but has not received Confirmation can register at the Rectory for preparation classes, to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. You will need to bring your Birth Certificate, Baptism Certificate and your Communion Certificate. Classes will be on Mondays at 7:00pm and will begin on Monday, January 29th, 2018. BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS If your child was born after December 26th, 2016 and before December 25, 2017, we would like to invite you to bring your child for your baby’s 1st Christmas Blessing. The Mass schedule is above. Please call the Rectory (718-768-6065) with your child’s name. CHRISTMAS OFFICE HOURS The Rectory will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Tuesday, December 26, in observance of Christmas and on Monday, January 1, for the New Year. There is a flyer for the schedule of Christmas Masses in the back of the church. NEWLY REGISTERED PARISHIONERS - ENVELOPES For all those who Registered as parishioners during the past month, we have packets of Donation Envelopes that have been mailed to you, if you have not picked them up in church. You can also come to the rectory to pick up a packet. When you receive the packet of envelopes, you will no longer need to use the (Blue) Temporary Envelopes. ** If you have any questions or if you are an active parishioner and have NOT received your envelopes, CALL the Rectory (718-768-6065) to let us know. THE 2017 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL This past March, the parishioners of St. Michael's made promises (pledges) to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) totaling $65,524, but thus far only $36,501 has been paid. Our Diocesan Goal is $39,425. Every dollar over that goal is returned to the parish and we can use it towards the Renovation of the Pope Francis Center. We have sent letters to the parishioners who have not yet been able to fulfill their pledge, asking that they try to do so or, if they can not give the full amount, that they try to help out in some way. We are always grateful for the generosity of our parishioners. If anyone has questions about the ACA or about their pledge, they can speak with Fr. Kevin and/or call the Rectory (718-768-6065). WINTER COAT DONATIONS FOR SOUP KITCHEN We are in need of Winter Coats for MEN in sizes Medium-X Large as well as socks, gloves and hats for those who attend our Soup Kitchen on Saturdays. These items will be distributed on Saturday, December 23rd, so please bring them to the rectory during office hours by Thursday, December 21st. CHRISTMAS ALTAR FLOWERS Would you like to donate a Christmas Plant or donate one in memory of a friend or a loved one and help decorate the Church Altar for Christmas? At the end of the Christmas Season you may take your plant home. CONFESSIONS IN ADVENT - WED. DEC. 20TH

We will have additional opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament

Wednesday, December 20th, Confessions will be available in

Church from 6:30 - 8:30pm. On Saturday, December 23rd there

will be Confessions as usual at 4:00pm and also 7:00pm and on

Sunday, Dec. 24th at 6:30am (before the 7:00am Mass). We will

continue hearing Confessions during the Mass, if necessary.

ADULT CONFIRMATION

17 DE DICIEMBRE 2017– TERCER DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO

SEGUNDA COLECTA-Regalo de Navidad a la Iglesia

La segunda colecta será su regalo de Navidad a San Miguel.

Estamos muy agradecidos por la generosidad de todos nuestros

feligreses durante todo el año! Le pedimos a cada feligrés que sea

lo más generoso posible para ayudar a nuestra parroquia mientras

celebramos la Navidad. ¡Gracias y Feliz Navidad!

ILUMINACION DEL ARBOL DE NAVIDAD- "GRACIAS"

Damos las gracias a todos los que ayudaron a que la noche de

nuestra "Iluminación de árboles" fuera hermosa! Especialmente

nuestros bomberos de NY (Ladder 114), que ayudaron a dar la

bienvenida a nuestros invitados especiales! También agradecemos

a la Policía de la Ciudad de NY, Precinto 72°, quienes siempre

están allí para ayudarnos y protegernos. Damos las gracias al Sr.

Harris y al coro de niños, a todo el Personal, Voluntarios

Parroquiales, especialmente a los jóvenes voluntarios de los

Grupos Jornada, CCJ, a Noel Vásquez y los Líderes de la

Juventud, quienes ayudaron a que nuestra celebración fuera aún

más brillante". Agradecemos especialmente a TODOS los

negocios, familias que patrocinaron un árbol de Navidad o una

corona como parte del Programa, recaudando fondos para becas

universitarias para los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia y comunidad.

Habrá más detalles sobre las donaciones y publicaremos la lista de

donantes en las próximas semanas, por lo que podemos agradecer

a cada donante personalmente por su maravillosa generosidad !

FIESTA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE-¡Gracias!

Tuvimos una maravillosa celebración de la Fiesta de Nuestra

Señora de Guadalupe. Damos las gracias a nuestro "Comité

Guadalupano" por todo su trabajo en hacer la celebración tan

Hermosa!! Damos las gracias a aquellos que decoraron la Iglesia

tan maravillosamente! Damos las gracias al Sr. Harris y nuestro

coro de adultos, el Ministerio de Música CCJ, todos nuestros

ministros, lectores, servidores, ujieres, líderes parroquiales y

voluntarios que trabajaron juntos para hacer de la fiesta una

verdadera bendición para nuestra parroquia y todos los que

asistieron. También damos las gracias a todas los negocios locales

que donaron alimentos y contribuyeron tan generosamente de

diferente maneras. Este año fuimos especialmente bendecidos por

la presencia del Rev. Francisco Javier Martínez, de la

Arquidiócesis de Puebla, México. Agradecemos al P. Francisco

por sus hermosas homilías, sus oraciones y su ministerio

sacerdotal. Es verdaderamente lindo ver tantos que quieren servir

y ayudar de cualquier manera, como una forma de expresar su

amor por la Santísima Virgen, nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

CONFESIONES EN ADVIENTO-Miércoles, 20 de Diciembre

Tendremos oportunidades adicionales para celebrar el Sacramento

de la Reconciliación (Confesión) durante la temporada de

Adviento. El miércoles, 20 de diciembre, las confesiones estarán

disponibles en la iglesia de 6:30pm a 8:30pm. El sábado 23 de

diciembre habrá confesiones como de costumbre a las 4:00p.m. y

también a las 7:00p.m. y el domingo 24 de diciembre a las 6:30

a.m. (antes de la misa a las 7:00a.m.). Continuaremos

escuchando Confesiones durante la Misa, si es necesario.

CONFIRMACION DE ADULTOS

Cualquier adulto que haya recibido el Bautismo y la Comunión

pero no a recibido la Confirmación puede inscribirse en la

Rectoría para las clases de preparación, para recibir el Sacramento

de la Confirmación. Deberá traer su certificado de nacimiento,

bautismo y de la comunión. Las clases serán los lunes a las 7:00

p.m. y comenzarán el lunes, 29 de enero de 2018.

LA PRIMERA NAVIDAD DE SU BEBÉ

Si su hijo nació después del 26 de diciembre de 2016 y antes del

25 de diciembre del 2017, nos gustaría invitarlo a traer a su niño/a

para la 1ra Bendición de Navidad de su bebé. El horario de misa se

encuentra arriba. Llame a la Rectoría (718) 768-6065 con el nombre

de su hijo.

HORARIO DE OFICINA EN NAVIDAD La Rectoría estará cerrada el lunes, 25 de diciembre y el martes, 26

de diciembre en observación de la Navidad y el lunes 1 de enero

por el Año Nuevo. Hay un volante del horario de Misas de Navidad

en la parte posterior de la iglesia.

FELIGRESES INSCRIPTOS RECIENTEMENTE -SOBRES

Para todos aquellos que se inscribieron como feligreses el último

mes, hemos enviado por correo sus paquetes de sobres, si no lo ha

recogido en la iglesia. También puede recoger un paquete de sobres

en la rectoría. Cuando reciba el paquete de sobres, ya no necesitará

usar los sobres "azules". **Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre los

sobres O, si ya es un feligrés activo y NO ha recibido sus sobres,

LLAME a la Rectoría (718-768-6065).

LA APELACIÓN CATOLICA ANUAL 2017

El pasado mes de marzo, los feligreses de San Miguel hicieron

promesas a la Campaña Católica Anual (ACA) por un total de

$65,524, pero hasta ahora solo se han donado $36,501. Nuestra meta

diocesana es de $39,425. Cada dólar sobre ese objetivo se devuelve a

la parroquia y podemos usarlo para la Renovación del Centro Papa

Francisco. Hemos enviado cartas a los feligreses que todavía no han

podido cumplir su promesa, pidiéndoles que traten de hacerlo o, si

no pueden dar la cantidad completa, favor de ayudar de alguna

manera. Siempre estamos agradecidos por la generosidad de nuestros

feligreses. Si alguien tiene preguntas sobre su compromiso, pueden

hablar con el Padre. Kevin o llame a la Rectoría (718-768-6065).

DONACIONES DE ABRIGOS PARA EL INVIERO

Estamos en la necesidad de abrigos, medias, guantes y gorros de

invierno para hombres en tamaños mediano a X grande para aquellos

que asisten a nuestro Comedor de los Sábados. Estos artículos se

distribuirán el sábado 23 de diciembre. Puede traerlos a la rectoría

durante el horario de oficina antes del jueves, 21 de diciembre.

FLORES DE NAVIDAD PARA EL ALTAR

Le gustaría donar una Flor de Navidad en memoria de un ser que-

rido y de esa manera ayudar a decorar el altar de la Iglesia para

Navidad? Al final del Tiempo de Navidad puede llevársela a su

casa. Por favor, escoja la mas conveniente para usted de las que

están a continuación:
