Go and tell

what you

are hearing

and

seeing....

Responding To the Birth of Christ Jesus responded to the twelve: Go

back and tell John what you are hearing and seeing: the blind can see, the lame can walk, those who suffer from dreaded skin diseases are made clean, the deaf can hear, the dead are brought back to life, and the Good News is preached to the poor. John the Baptist was in prison when he heard of Jesus‟ preaching and teaching ministry.

The above written scripture of Christ answer to John the Baptist was Jesus‟ response directly spoken to John‟s messenger. This thought provoking answer was demonstrated by Jesus‟ concern for the poor and needy. His fervour to reach out was His ultimate reason in doing such inspiring mission for the world.

THY WORD is A LAMP UNTO MY FEET by: Pastor Ma. Beate M.Hernandez,RND

As we celebrate Christmas Season, let us anchor our hopes and prayerful thoughts to those who need Jesus in their lives. As a community of faith let us allow change and respond according to God‟s direction. Remember that there is a broken heart in every pew. Let us reach out and tie up with them.

Meaningful response to Christ Birth is responding in and out of what we have in our lives. James the brother of Jesus said in his letter “If you have a friend who is in need..........and you say to him, „well good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well, ‟and then don‟t give him clothes or food, what good does that do?” (James 2:15-16)

Above all, God responded to our call, He heard His people cry, as we celebrate and rejoice of the Gospel, may we continue living out the faith he already gave to us when Jesus Christ was born. +

CHRISTMAS TRIVIA

According to historical accounts, the first Christmas in the Philippines was celebrated 200 years before

Ferdinand Magellan discovered the country for the western world, likely between the years 1280 and 1320

AD. =============================

In France, Christmas is called Noel. This is derived from

the French phrase "les bonnes nouvelles," which means

literally "the good news" and refers to the gospel.

====================================================== Originally, Christmas decorations were home-made paper

flowers, or apples, biscuits, and sweets. The earliest decorations to be bought came from Nuremburg in Germany,

a city famous for the manufacture of toys.

The Kind of Person That God Uses by Walter Henrichsen

We have already pointed out that the key to the disciple-making ministry is faithful men and women. What are the qualifications of faithful men and women?

1) He has adopted as his objective in life the same objective God sets forth in the scriptures. Jesus said “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt .

6:33) Jesus is saying that if we seek His kingdom and His righteousness, He will assume responsibility for meeting every other need in our life. Whatever our vocation is, it must never be our life objective; for our vocation, no matter how noble it may be is temporal. The scriptures teach us to give our lives to the eternal and not to the temporal. A faithful man is a man who has chosen eternal objectives for his life 2) He is willing to pay any price to have the will of God fulfilled in his life.

Having committed himself to God’s objective, the faithful man steadfastly resists becoming ensnared in the world’s glittering attractions. Is there anything between you and God like pet sins, finances, possessions? The Bible says that people who mind earthly “possessions” are enemies of the cross of Christ ((read Phil 3:18,19). All you hold dear to yourself – your family, your health, your dreams, your aspirations and goals – must be held with an open mind. God must be free to do with you and take from you as He pleases. You need not open your hand to God with a sense of fear, for God loves you with a perfect love and has your

best interests at heart. The faithful person is one who is willing to pay any price to have the will of God accomplished in his life. Continued on page 4......

DNEWSBits SCCD HOSTED MUZIKALOOB 2010. The yearly Muzikaloob of the Conference CYF which gathers the Youth Praise and Worship Team of the local churches within LCSMC were held at UCCP Sabang. About 80% of our youth attended this festival of praise and worship. SCCD Youth Liturgical Dancers were invited by UCCP Tunog Real as dance interpreters while SCCD CYF Praise and Worship Team performed a musical piece hailed from a composition of Ms. Irene Rimbon, a so called litany of praise for repentance entitled: “Isang Panaginip”. Our Young People had been joining this Muzikaloob for four years in a row now. SCCD‟s composition of Psalmist Coordinating Council launched in October is a remarkable work of God in blooming once again the so called Singing Church UCCP Sabang.

Everybody’s Birthday celebrated. On the 4th Sunday of November in SCCD. This year‟s motif was the PN6 ALTAR GLITTER project design set at the chancel area. Glittering and lighting of Color the Season 3 shall be done during Christmas Eve celebration. A total offering of P13,658.50 was received from the worshippers in thanksgiving to God for another year added in their lives.

2011 Approved Budget presented. The 2011 Church Budget as approved by the Church Council in its November regular meeting dated November 21 was presented to the congregation during worship on Stewardship Sunday, November 28 by our Finance Secretary Ms. Ma. Ney Poculan. An increase of about 10% from last year‟s budget, the 2011 Church Budget pegged figures in the expense items, a significant increase to programs were adjusted based on the growth and developing process we had as a church. During the CRO Joint Fellowship on November 13, the same was presented to about 65 people in attendance with an open forum. Church budgeting is different from secular organizations and business corporations as income is yet to be claimed. The uniqueness of managing church finances is hoped to be appreciated and embraced by the church members in order to dispel doubts and look at church stewardship as not only the responsibility of pastors or church leaders but of the whole faith community. Truly, think of what not the church can do for you but what you can contribute for the reign of God‟s kingdom on earth.

CWA holds Annual Retreat. The Annual Retreat of the CWA was held on November 13, 2009 at the haven of our beloved Pastors Bea and Ronell situated at Citilane, reflecting on the theme, “Christian Women in the Changing and Challenging Times.” Members of the CWA joined this activity which had Bible study sessions on the challenging and changing times when women are called all the more to shine as beacon in the darkest hour of life. A challenging reflection and sharing moments were done by each one on a very intimate workshop to fully understand, obey and discern God‟s will in our lives as women both in our respective busy world. The CWA is currently led by its President Elder Natalia Cantada. 2nd Exchange Pulpit this EY made with UCCP Carmona. The 2nd round of Exchange Pulpit in the Cavite East Cluster this ecclesial year 2010-2011 was with UCCP Dulong Bayan on November 28. Its Administrative Pastor Rev. Leo Rosete was the preacher on the said Sunday while Pastor Bea Hernandez went to UCCP Dulong Bayan as SCCD‟s Pastoral Team representative. The Cavite East Cluster meets monthly every 3rd Tuesday in different local churches within the cluster. Last month was in UCCP Sabang.

Workers’ Wider Church Involvement SCCD workers attended the Continuing Theological Education (CTE) on the topic of Liturgy and Music last November 9, 2010 at UCCP Caridad in Cavite City. Given the developments in UCCP Liturgy and Music as well as the need of refreshing church workers on convergence, advancement in technology and UCCP liturgy and music education, this subject provided a venue for church workers present to evaluate their theological and administrative practice on Liturgy making in the light of UCCP framework and spiritual discipline.

Four new attendees received as official member. The Discovery/Membership Class held in October of this year produced four members as official/regular member namely Al Mondaca and Analyn Pintuan who‟s getting married this December, Analyn is a regular attendee here at SCCD, Bea Almanzor an active CYAF member and a praise and worship leader of Love Banquet Night since 2009. Elma Soncuan is a resident of Dexterville and active attendee of SCCD Prayer Meeting every Wednesday night. Some of them have been attending SCCD for some time now but have not been formally received as members.

TEACHERS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM TEP3 of the

LCSMC is held at UCCP Anabu, some 64 teachers and

20 churches of the LCSMC attended this event. This

years‟ TEP 3 is the Advent Christmas Season

Curriculum training for Sunday School Teachers which

will be echoed to our SCCD Teachers during a

Teachers‟ Workshop Sunday after LCSMC training.

Cont.. The Kind of Person .........................

3.) He has a love for the Word of God. The prophet Jeremiah said, “Thy words were found,

and I did eat them; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by Thy name, O Lord God of Hosts.” (Jer. 15:16). Do you crave the word of God like you crave food? Are you in submission to the authority of the Word of God? Or do you pick and choose what to believe and obey? Do you have a regular Bible reading program? Is your craving for the Bible so great that it is impossible to satisfy?

4.) He has a servant heart. Jesus reminded His disciples that non-Christians enjoy

being served and exercising authority over others. In contrast, He said, “But it shall not be so among you; but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your servant; even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matt 20:26-28). Serve to lead… this is the same message that Jesus was telling His disciples when He washed their feet (see John 13). The disciple-maker seeks to invest his life in another to help that person accomplish his own vision.

HEALTH CORNER:

Food & Nutrition tips for the Holidays

Source: Food Nutrition Research Institute Digest

Written by: Dr. Imelda A. Agdeppa

Good health is the most valuable and beautiful gift that you can give to yourself this Christmas. Here are some

practical guidelines that you can follow: a. PLAN MEALS. Spend some time to plan the foods you are going to serve during the season. Stick to basics. Use the food pyramid as a guide in planning meals. Well-planned meals are the key to have a healthy body. b. Eat a variety of foods in the proper amount. This is

the first message of the 2000 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) developed by a technical working group led by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST). The human body needs ample amount of nutrients for good health and no single food can provide all these needed amounts of nutrients. Choosing different kinds of foods from all food groups in the food pyramid is the first step to obtain a well-balanced diet. Don‟t use the season as a reason for you to over-eat. Just load up your plate with the right amount of healthy choices of foods. Eat slowly and enjoy every bite.

c. Don’t starve yourself all day. During the holiday season, many people tend to skip meals and indulge in one large holiday meal. This is not a good idea. You are just setting yourself up for a major binge that makes you forget about any sense of the word “moderation” or “control”. Eat several small meals a day.

d. Stop smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages.

Smoking can cause lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, and other systemic diseases. It also decreases the appetite, thus can result to malnutrition. For many people, hand in hand with any occasion comes an increase in the amount of alcohol they consume. Excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages may lead to weight gain resulting in obesity, nutrient deficiencies, increased triglycerides, hypertension; erratic blood glucose level, and other serious illnesses such as cirrhosis of the liver, cardiovascular diseases, and certain types of cancer. If alcoholic beverages are consumed, these should be taken in moderation.

This year‟s educational tour brought the DLA north of Manila visiting Bulacan and Clark, Pampanga on November 19, 2010 availing the services of Honeypot Tours Company. About 200 pupils with their adult companions, faculty and staff joined this trip requiring four buses. Places visited were Nature‟s Spring bottled water plant site in Guiguinto, Bulacan, Nayong Pilipino in Clark, Pampanga and back to Metro Manila for the Life Museum in Pasay City.

School Board sets corporation membership classification. With the amendments in the DLA Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws confirmed by the members of the DLA School Corporation in a Referendum conducted on November 14, 2010, corporation membership classification had been set. These are regular, associate and honorary. Regular Members are those who had been associate members for at least one year, had passed through a process of screening and had been formally recognized by the Board of Trustees. They are qualified to vote and be voted upon. Associate Members are those who had been identified as potential contributors to the cause of the corporation and may be prepared towards regular membership. They have no voting powers. Honorary Members are those who belong to the roster of original incorporators but are not anymore in active participation in the affairs of the corporation and have signified withdrawal from membership. They have no voting powers. Other important clauses were also included to comply with BIR requirements for tax exemption. The amended document will be submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission this month.

Fencing done in restored creekside. After the eroded

creek side was rehabilitated by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in August of this year, fencing works were done to secure the school perimeter. A truck of soil filling materials was also dumped on the gap between the riprap and the irrigation canal that was threatening to cave in. Though a small portion was still left unfenced at least 80% of the project had been completed.
