Dear OVE Families,
I cannot believe that December is already here! With the upcoming holidays and the end of the first semester, December will prove to be an exciting month! Below are some of the activities
that I would like to highlight... GIVING TREE The Giving Tree is a tradition that began at OVE
years ago as an opportunity for OVE staff to give back to the community by “adopting” families in need within our community and helping to purchase gifts for the holidays. Traditionally, the
giving tree has been housed in the Teacher’s Lounge and was primarily a staff event. This year, we will be placing the Giving Tree in the lobby to allow greater access to the OVE
community. If you would like to help purchase items for families for the holidays, please stop by the OVE lobby and select a paper ornament from the Giving Tree. Each ornament will have the age
and gender of the family member along with an item from their “wish list”. The process is completely anonymous. Purchased items should be wrapped with the paper ornament attached to
the outside of the gift and returned to the OVE office by Monday, December 14 to ensure on-time delivery.
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY: A HUGE THANK YOU to Marcia Miller, our Chair, Cami Miller, the kitchen staff, all the volunteers, and all the other OVE staff, especially Carlie Davis, our secretary, for all
of the hard work and dedication to put together
an amazing experience for our students and their grandparents (or special person). The amazing
lunch served over 1200 students and grandparents. We hope everyone enjoyed this special day! (pictures will be posted on the webpage).
OVE HOLIDAY BAZAAR— This will occur this Sat., Dec. 5th! We are excited for this event for our third year and hope to see
you there! We do still have a few tables left for vendors, so if you or someone you know is interested, please call the school by Tuesday, December 1st.
COOKIES AND CLAY—Thank you to Mrs. Judd for putting in her time for this event. The ornaments
will be available at the OVE Holiday Bazaar from 9:00am—12:00pm. These look spectacular and are quite the ‘keepsake’ All monetary donations for the ornaments will be given to the Middlebury Food
Pantry. December is going to be an exciting month at Orchard View! As always, please feel free to
contact me with any questions, concerns or feedback. Have a wonderful and safe holiday season!
Sincerely, Josh Yoder
Principal

When dropping off students in the a.m., your child
should exit the vehicle CURB-SIDE along the side-
walk. When students stay in the car to finish eating
breakfast, finish homework, etc. it delays those
waiting in line behind you.
In the a.m., please pull your vehicle up to the end of
the sidewalk so we can have several cars let chil-
dren out at one time. Once your car is along the
sidewalk, please have your child exit the car, wait-
ing until you are in front of the school doors is cre-
ating a blockage all the way back to the intersec-
tion.
Please also keep the flow of cars entering the loop by
NOT driving down the middle rows of the parking lot
to drop off or pick up.
AM Drop-off starts at 7:20. Tardy bell is at 7:45 am.
The end of the day car rider dismissal is 2:00 p.m.
Please call the office if you have any updated infor-
mation: i.e., new phone #’s, new employment, new
address, etc. This information is very important in
case we need to get in touch with you. Thank you so
much.
Our automated phone system will call you to let
you know of any delays or cancellations. When we
have a 2 hour delay for any reason, breakfast will
not be served. All doors are locked until 9:35.
Please, no early drop-offs. In case school is can-
celled because of road or weather conditions during
the winter or because of emergency situations at
any time, the information will be reported to radio
stations WKAM (1460AM or 98FM), WTRC
(1340AM), WCMR (1270AM or 104.5FM), and
WOWO (1190 AM). Additionally, it will be report-
ed on the local TV stations, all before 7:00 a.m.,
when possible. If classes need to be dismissed dur-
ing any school day because of road and weather
conditions, or other emergencies, the information
will be reported to the same media. Parents should
make arrangements for children to be able to get
into the house, or go to another safe place. You
should also be able to receive school delay/closing
information at our web site www.mcsin-k12.org
Christmas Break: December 21st - January 4th
With the changing weather we appreciate your
help in making sure your child dresses for the
outside weather. We will go outside when the
wind-chill is at or above 15 degrees. Also, we are
not able to keep your child inside and provide
additional supervision due to colds, headaches,
etc. as we do not have the staffing available. Un-
less we have a doctor’s note, all students will
need to go outside for recess and if you feel your
child is not well enough then you will need to
keep him or her home. Thank you for your coop-
eration.
The Middlebury Community School District is offering
tuition-free enrollment for second semester . The dead-
line to apply is 2/12/2016. Our Student Transfer Policy
along with the Student Transfer Application may be
found on our website at www.mcsin-k12.org. Please call
574-825-9425 if you have any questions.
The Christmas season is the time of year when we
can refocus our time and efforts towards those
things that really matter: family time! This is just
a simple encouragement to set aside the “hustle
and bustle” of the season long enough to ENJOY
your children. We are lucky enough to have your
children as students at our school, but you have the
opportunity to teach them the things that are im-
portant to your family. Take time for them, teach
them, love on them.
I truly hope your holiday season is filled with joy,
laughter, and time spent with your family!
