“Excellence in Picture Framing & Art” December 2016 MillStream President’s Message With the Holiday season in full swing security is always a big concern for your Community Association. It seems that even with 24 hour 7 days a week security patrols it is impossible to stay ahead of those intent on causing harm or damage. Unlocked cars, housed, packages left on the doorsteps seem to be the prime targets of these characters.. Call and report any suspicious activity (cars, people or just out of the ordinary events) to our Security Department (425) 328 0035 or the Mill Creek Police Department at 911. If we take an active roll in watching out for each other hopefully the Holidays will be safer and happier for all. The Car Cover prohibition addition to our CC&R’s did pass and the Governing Documents have been revised and recorded with Snohomish County. This means the new rule about car covers is officially part of our CC&R’s and enforceable after January 1, 2017. Questions concerning this new policy can be addresses to the Board of Directors or the MCCA office. The MCCA Christmas Lighting and Decoration Contest better known as the Famous Elf Awards, which award is the envy of all, is just around the corner. You can only win an Elf or Santa’s Choice award every other year , not two years in a row. Though last year’s Elf winner can receive this year’s Santa’s Choice award and last year’s Santa’s Choice winner can win an Elf award for this year. In a small division there might occasionally be an exception regarding the Elf award rule. Last year the completion was overwhelming. The creativity of our residents is unreal and a joy to see. President’s Message

With the Holiday season in full swing security is always a big concern for

your Community Association. It seems that even with 24 hour 7 days a

week security patrols it is impossible to stay ahead of those intent on causing

harm or damage. Unlocked cars, housed, packages left on the doorsteps seem to

be the prime targets of these characters.. Call and report any suspicious activity

(cars, people or just out of the ordinary events) to our Security Department (425)

328 0035 or the Mill Creek Police Department at 911. If we take an active roll in

watching out for each other hopefully the Holidays will be safer and happier for

all.

The Car Cover prohibition addition to our CC&R’s did pass and the Governing

Documents have been revised and recorded with Snohomish County. This means

the new rule about car covers is officially part of our CC&R’s and enforceable

after January 1, 2017. Questions concerning this new policy can be addresses to

the Board of Directors or the MCCA office.

The MCCA Christmas Lighting and Decoration Contest better known as the

Famous Elf Awards, which award is the envy of all, is just around the corner.

You can only win an Elf or Santa’s Choice award every other year, not two years

in a row. Though last year’s Elf winner can receive this year’s Santa’s Choice

award and last year’s Santa’s Choice winner can win an Elf award for this year.

In a small division there might occasionally be an exception regarding the Elf

award rule. Last year the completion was overwhelming. The creativity of our

residents is unreal and a joy to see. Good luck to all.

On Behalf of our Board of Directors, the MCCA office staff and employees of

MCCA, I want to wish each and everyone of you a Merry Christmas and a safe

and Happy Holiday season

MILL CREEK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

CHRISTMAS LIGHTING CONTEST

MCCA is brightening those long winter evenings by recognizing

those neighbors who decorate in style for the holidays.

So get ready for the Annual MCCA Holiday Lighting Contest!!!

Judging will take place on Wednesday, December 14th from

7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. So have your lights on at 7:00 PM!!!

One winner in each single fa division will receive the coveted “Elf Award”, which will be

placed in their front yard for all to see! The prestigious “Santa’s Choice Award” will

also be presented that same evening. Only one Santa’s Choice Award will be given out.

There will also be one Elf Award winner for the best Condo entrance.

Each of the Elf Award winners and the one Santa’s Choice winner will also receive a

commemorative tree ornament for their wonderful efforts.

As a reminder, you can only win an Elf or Santa’s Choice award every other year, not two

years in a row. Though last year’s Elf winner can receive this year’s Santa’s Choice

award and last year’s Santa’s Choice winner can win an Elf award for this year. In a

small division there might occasionally be an exception regarding the Elf award rule.

The winner’s names will be posted in the MCCA office window by Friday, December

16th. These names will also be listed in the February, Mill Stream.

This year’s Elves are invited to pick up the Elf sign’s and have treats 6

PM at the MCCA offices, located at 15524 Country Club Drive, before

Covenant Committee The Covenant Committee wishes to thank all of you who do so much to keep your homes

and yards looking beautiful year round. It can be especially difficult to keep your yards

tidy in the wet winters we have in the Pacific Northwest. Below are some winter

maintenance tips:

Winter is upon us and after the wind storms we recently experienced, it is a good time to

prepare you home for the winter by doing the following:

rake up fallen leaves

blow the leaves off your roof, walkways and driveway

clean your gutters so they are not overflowing during rain storms

mow your lawn and apply winter fertilizer

clean your flower bed areas of weeds and leaves

Please use your yard waste containers as dumping yard waste and other material in the

common area is strictly prohibited. Also, please remember to keep your waste, recycling

and garbage containers out of sight from street and neighboring properties, i.e. in view from

front or side windows.

The Halloween Decoration this Fall were superb!

(See pictures on next page)

Driving around The Association was certainly “Spooky”.

Bravo, Homeowners!!!!

Happy Holidays!

Just a reminder: The covenant change/addition

that was voted on and approved by 2/3’s of the general

membership at the September 2016 meeting prohibiting car

covers of any kind has been recorded with Snohomish County

and will legally go into effect January 1, 2017.

If you are currently using a car cover on your vehicle you will need to remove it prior to

January 1, 2017, if you have not already.

MCCA Survey Results

The MCCA Board also wishes to thank all those who participated in the recent Members Survey.

The survey was sent electronically to all those that have signed up for our Constant Contact e-mail

service. (If you wish to answer the survey and do not have internet access you can pick one up at

the office.)

Question 1 - 71.1% of responders live in single family homes, 27.9% live in condo/townhomes.

1=Very Satisfied, 3=Neutral, 5=Very Dissatisfied

Question 2 - Common Area Maintenance. Score-1.9

Question 3—Security. Score-2.0

Question 4- ACC and Covenant Committee enforcement. Score-2.2

Question 5 Covenant Committee enforcement Score-2.4 Question 6- Summer flower basket and Holiday wreathes Score-1.5

Question 7—MCCA staff courtesy and professionalism. Score-1.6

The numbers have gone up over the years with the level of satisfaction in common area

maintenance rising the most over the years.

We received many comments. All comments are appreciated greatly and will be taken under

consideration.

The MCCA Board does listen to you and will use this information and make the difficult decisions

required to plan for the future of MCCA. This past year the Board tried something new in

Covenant Enforcement. A majority of you approve of the change from neighbors reporting

complaints to the committee reporting complaints and patrolling looking for them.

Thank you, again, for participating and all your comments. It does make a difference and helps

keep MCCA the wonderful community we all love.

Mill Creek Women's Club held

their annual "Thanks for Giving"

Auction on November 16th at the

beautiful Mill Creek Country

Club. We are very pleased to

report that we raised over $33,000

for the YWCA Domestic Violence

Programs. The YWCA will be able

to help many women and children

during the year to come. A big

thank you goes out to all who

helped make our Auction a

success, especially the many local

businesses who donated gift cards

and helped sponsor our Auction.

I know that most of you have heard of the Mill Creek Garden Club (MCGC). Do you

know who we are and what we do as a club? The MCGC was started 33 years ago in

Mill Creek, the members then and now are interested in gardening, but it is so much

more. The Mill Creek Garden Club is a group of women (men are more than welcome

to join), who do love gardening, each other and the greater Mill Creek community. Not

all of the members live in Mill Creek, it is not a requirement.

The MCGC takes loving care of

the Friendship Garden, The

Mill Creek City Hall entrance

garden, and the Veteran’s

monument. We also donated a

bench which is placed at the

Veteran’s Monument, for quiet

reflection of those who we’ve

lost.

In the past our hanging basket

sale and now, the Mill Creek

Garden Tour, which will take

place Saturday June 24th have

enable the garden club to fund -

Grants to area schools to help

the children learn about nature, gardening and the out of doors; Giving through Garden-

ing Day at the Mill Creek library park; the bench at the Veteran’s monument; a $2000.00

grant to the Farmer Frog project (http://farmerfrog.org/). Every year the Garden Club in

November holds a Food and Essential drive to benefit the Mill Creek Food Bank. In

December we collect Toys for Christmas House.

Our membership gets together for a speaker, short meeting and a great lunch and great

people once a month. Some of our past speakers include Ciscoe, Ed Hume, Cass

Turnbull and Jessi Bloom. During the year we take excursions for example, The Flower

and Garden Show; Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Gardens; the Woodinville Lavender

Farm. We enjoy being with friends.

The MCGC is a group of loving, fun, get your hands dirty women, who wish you all A

Very Merry Season and a Joy filled New Year!!!!!
