CONTINUING PRAYER CONCERNS Welcome to Sunset on this wonderful day! As the world looks to the gift of Gods love today we also will be looking at that greatest of all gifts during our sermon time. We were blessed with several new additions last Sunday. We welcomed Jacob Wampler who is a high school student at Rogersville. We also welcomed the Penner Family to Sunset. John and Sandy Penner have six children: Alex, Julian, Michael, Elizabeth, Matthew and Cassie. John is employed with AT&T and Sandy home schools. We also welcomed Steve and Donna Combs and their two college aged children, Andrew (student at Harding) and Cathy (student at Freed-Hardeman) and Steves mother, June Combs to our church family. They recently moved to Republic from Paragould, AR. Steve works for Associated Electric Cooperative and Donna is a CPA. What a blessing to have all these new folks with us. Welcome them and get to know them as soon as you can!! We also had the opportunity to pray for our sister in Christ, Kim Hansen. She came asking us to pray for her as she has been going through a very difficult time. Prayer is powerful and can change any situation. Next Sunday as we begin a New Year we will also be beginning a short sermon series on Genesis. We will be focusing on the first beginning on that day. Our elders have suggested that we begin the New Year by spending some time in prayer, together asking for Gods direction and blessing. Therefore, on Sunday night we will be spending time in prayer and song as we look out at the untracked snow of 2012. My prayer for every member of this church family in the new year is that God will give you the wisdom for every challenge, the strength for every burden, and the joy for every day. Getting To Know You Ethel Wilhelm grew up in Nixa and attended all 12 years of school in the Old Nixa School on Main Street. She was a Registered Nurse at St. John’s until she retired after 25 years, and she and her late husband pro-vided foster care for 10 years to around 40 children.

Then in April of 2010, she lost her husband of al-most 50 years and has been navigating a new era in life on her own. In November of last year she moved her membership to Sunset, and is keeping active with church family and friends.

Though she really enjoys Christmas, her favorite time of year is spring when she loves to grow her flowers and tend to her yard. She also spends time with her grandchildren and enjoys sewing, oil paint-ing, and lest she seem too demure—NASCAR.

Ethel has four children; Lori Johnson (49), Eric Wil-helm(49), Curtis Wilhelm (43), and our own Tony Crowley (43—a foster son).

Ethel usually attends 1st service and normally sits at the front of the west side.

IGLESIA DE CRISTO We want to thank everyone who attended the combined Anglo-Hispanic Worship the week before last. It was a great encouragement. We hope to worship together several times in the new year.

As you read this my family and I are in Miami visiting with our family for the holidays. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel home on the 31st.

Thank you very much for your support,

Mainor
