BUTTERFLIES IN THE RING“We Can Do This”
When you feel the“Butterflies” in your stomach, instead of saying to yourself,“Oh, I’m so nervous,” try saying “Oh, I’m so excited to be showing!”
Most people get a thrill or a rush of adrenaline before they walk into the ring. If you didn’t you would probably take up a different sport.
If you get so “excited” that your body trembles and your feel nauseous it is probably because you are forgetting to breathe. Your body is trying to tell you that oxygen is still required, Take slow deep breaths, stand up and put on a smile. Practice your footwork or heel with your dog if he needs to be worn down or warmed up. Focus on rhythm, what the pattern is and review your visual images that help keep heeling smooth.
Once you begin the heeling pattern your panic leaves. The only time you feel over anxious in the ring is when you stop walking or working the dog.
Don’t let your mind wander. Keep thinking“WE CAN DO THIS”. Always have positive thoughts in and out of the ring. What you think and act transfers down the leash to your dog.
Do not think an exercise. You may have failed one exercise’ You do not know until it is over for sure, if you passed or failed, so think
“”””””””YES”””””””

Our Club will be walking in the Ormond Christmas Parade on Saturday December 8th, 2018. This is the parade that we have to have lights on our dogs or leashes. You can get the battery operated lights for that at Dollar Tree or Wal-Mart. We wear our club shirts and dark colored slacks. If it's cold you can wear a sweatshirt underneath your club shirt. There will be an OCOD decorated car in the parade in case you or your dog comes up lame and needs to ride. Line up for the parade will be at 5:00 this year. I will email the line up location as soon as I receive it.
Let Linda Campagna know if you can COMMIT to this beautiful night parade. It is a short route and the families watching just love seeing the dogs walking and frolicking with their lighted decorations. We need to know in the next couple of days how many teams can come.
Please call Linda at 386-848-4594 and leave a voice mail or email at [email protected] . She doesn't get texting.

New Business:
Domestic Abuse Support: Pat reported that the local domestic abuse organization is hoping to create a shelter that will allow people to bring their pets with them. We are hoping to be able to continue to support them in some way.
Gift Certificates: From time to time we are asked to donate a basic class to a local organization for them to raffle off.
Traffic Cones: Joyce will be getting new rubber cones to replace the paper cones that we use in training classes. They will be about 28” tall.
Doorbell: Nina and Claire will be looking in to purchasing a doorbell that can be attached by the front door in a manner that it will not disappear. They will be looking for one that can be heard when they are working in the puppy or agility areas.
Opening and Closing for Renters: We are looking for people who can be available for opening and closing the building on days when the building is rented to other clubs. The person who opens does not need to stay all day, nor be the one to close the building. Let Reneé know if you can help out with this. The next rental is expected to be the Toy Dog Specialty. We need four different people for the two day weekend please.
Saturday Run Thrus: Reneé announced changes for Saturdays starting January 1. The cost will be $10 for each hour in the ring for one dog and $5 for each additional dog. There is a notice on the front desk explaining this.

Awards Chair: In order to continue with annual awards, we need someone to take on the task for 2019.
Tracking Tests: Pat Dean held the 50/50 raffle to benefit the tests.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:42PM
Respectfully Submitted,
Chris Franczek

Dear Members:
As we move into the Holiday and End of Year Celebrations, it’s a time when many of us take a moment to reflect.
The 24 hour international news cycle fills our inbox with what is often more information than we want – but it’s also a reminder of how lucky most of us are. With the number of recent natural disasters and ongoing conflicts throughout the globe, I hope you will take time to enjoy the small corner of the world you call your own and appreciate the peace and comfort you find there. Whatever your problems may be, take a deep breath and focus on the good things in your life for a little while.
Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to all OCOD members and our friends.
Pat Mozden
