SPRING TEA AND TOUR

Another amazing month for BCQG Philanthropy! Thank you so much for all your generosity. Wedonated 83 quilts and 20 NICU blankets. The NICU blankets went to Saddleback Hospital. 32 babyquilts, 30 little quilted bears, some baby clothes and 4 receiving blankets went to Operation Showersof Appreciation for a baby shower at Camp Pendleton. 18 quilts went to Prototypes (a shelter withmothers and children, age 10 and under). 12 quilts went to UCSD Alzheimer’s Project. UCSDhandles numerous clinical studies of Alzheimer’s. They make a concerted effort to provide quilts toall the study participants. 6 went to UCI Oncology, 5 to United Cerebral Palsy group home residents,1 to an individual cancer patient, 1 to a bereaved woman, 2 to the VA, 3 to St. Michael’s hospice, and3 to Royale Therapeutic Treatment Center.

We have received incredible donations this month: lots of beautiful fabrics and a roll of batting.Members are doing so many things for Philanthropy. One person is piecing our batting leftovers andmaking custom sized batting for quilts for us. Another person is cutting, sewing and pressingbindings from her stash. We received enough Flip & Sew squares at the Guild meeting to make 5baby quilts. That’s in addition to the two completed ones.

Please let us know if you need quilts for families that you might have adopted for the holidays. Itwill be first come, first served, as usual.

Our next sewing day will be Monday, December 1st, at the Laguna Niguel Library. We will bethere from 10:30 until 4. The library is on Crown Valley Parkway, just south of Alicia Parkway. Weare in the Community Room, to the left after you enter the library. We will be sewing, probablyputting together some of the Flip & Sew blocks, among other things. There is always work for thosewho want to do something other than sewing. Remember you don’t have to spend the whole day.Come for as long as you wish. It’s a great way to make friends and work on such a worthy cause.
