New bag tags have now arrived! Please stop in the golf shop to pick them up.
In the event we experience a frost delay the Superintendent will notify the golf
shop. The golf shop will then enter a frost delay for that day through the Foretees
tee sheet. This will immediately distribute an email to all players on the tee sheet
announcing your new tee time for that day.
Congratulations to Andra Privert on her Hole-in-One on Sunday, November 15th
on #4 with a 5 fairway metal!
A Note from the Director of Golf Dear Terravita Golf Members,
I hope you all are enjoying your golf and the course here at Terravita. We have
enjoyed seeing our returning members and are excited about getting the season
going. I have a couple of items to announce and discuss:
Ron Gring has officially been offered and accepted the position of Director of Golf
at Capital Canyon Golf Club. We will miss Ron and his service. There is no one
more deserving of this opportunity.
Please remember that every event or game you wish to sign up for is on-line,
located in the calendar section of the golf website. We are trying to eliminate last
minute sign-ups and cancellations in order to successfully manage an event with
respect to pairings and fairness to other players. We also must adhere to the
deadlines set by the F&B staff.
Please help us maintain the course by doing your part in repairing ball marks and
filling in your divots with our sand and seed mix. The golden rule is always enter
the green and look for your mark and another mark!
We look forward to seeing you all at the Wine and Cheese event Tuesday evening
December 1, 2015. I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and see you at the
Club.

The fall 2015 overseeding program was very successful, largely in part due to another great year
of bermuda grass transition during the summer months. We were fortunate to evade damage by
a few scattered thunderstorms during the seeding process. This overseeding all of the grass seed
was put on the ground four days ahead of last year’s pace as a result of the staff’s ability to
complete some of the advanced prep work prior to the closing of the course. The greens were
seeded at a slightly higher rate than last year. The overall plant density on the putting surfaces
was noticeably much better than expected which gave us more flexibility with lower mowing
heights as we prepared to open the course. Our staff did a great job with the overseeding
process and I am proud of the work they accomplished. We will be even more efficient next
year now that our staff has experienced the last couple of overseeds here at Terravita.
Over the next few weeks we will be very aggressive with our fertilizer program to help
accommodate the traffic our course receives, and also to get our winter ryegrass coverage as
dense as possible before the first few heavy frosts which will send our base Bermuda into
dormancy for the winter. We are also starting to see the benefits of our new equipment
purchases that have been delivered over the last several weeks, the most important of which are
the new greens mowers. Flexing blade technology allows for a much truer cut each day especial-
ly on our most contoured greens such as #2, #3, #11, and #17 just as a few examples. The new
mowers are creating a much smoother surface than in years past.
We will continue with detail work in the coming weeks by edging cart paths, bunkers, and
trimming around the highly focal practice areas just to name a few. We will also continue
trimming the more visible trees within the turf lines, and adding more sand to a handful of
greenside bunkers that were identified during our bunker sand redistribution project that
occurred towards the end of the summer.
In closing, I know it was mentioned at the town hall meeting a few weeks ago, but I want to
personally re-iterate my appreciation to the Golf Staff for the work they did on refurbishing the
ball-washers, tee markers, range flags, and other course accessories during the over seeding
closure. They did a phenomenal job of making something old look brand new, and in the
process saved the club thousands of dollars in scheduled replacements. Hats off to them and
their efforts to help make the course look great!
