1. WHAT IS DECISION MAKING ?

Decision Making is defined as the selection of a course of action from among alternatives.

Managers sometimes see Decision Making as their central job because they must constantly choose Whatis to be done, Who is to do it, and When, Where, and occasionally even how it will be done.

Examples:

Shopping, deciding what to eat, What to wear, when to

sleep, etc..

Which Mobile Phone should I buy?

What are the things you

consider before making a decision?

What should I wear for class (or work) today?

What are the things you

consider before making a decision?

2. TYPES OF DECISION MAKING.

Programmed And Non-Programmed Decisions.

Major And Minor Decisions.

Routine And Strategic Decisions.

Individual And Group Decisions.

A good Decision Maker has to follow certain steps in Decision Making.

Identify the problem and defined it. Develop Objectives. Seek the fact and identify the problem. Develop a model. Evaluate the alternatives. Select the best alternative. Implement the Decision OR plan a course of

action. Evaluate the result.
