LOCATION! Firstly, our decision on our location had to be revised. We decided

originally on filming up in London, around the Southbank area, as we felt that due to it being an urban location there would be a lot of people around to shoot within our piece, who would react accordingly to a chase. We also liked the use of large buildings and streets, where we could vary our shots for different parts of the chase.

Having gone up to London on 30th October for our first shoot, we discovered that the whole logistics (pricing, timings, actors availability) was very difficult, considering that it was not our local area. Due to a very sad Friday 13th in Paris, we also had the precautions of terrorism. So, we eventually decided that London was not the best place to shoot. From a further discussion we then decided on the location of Crawley (10 minutes down the road). Still having the urban settings, with buildings and people, but with very little cost and a larger availability rate from our actors.

ACTORS! Furthermore, another decision that we revised was the

main role of the victim, changing our actor from an 18 year old to a man of 43; my father in fact. This not only made our chase much more realistic having an older man but also gave us much more time with him as he was a relative and could film when we wanted him. It also meant that our film would look more professional as a whole, using outside people, instead of peers at school.

DAY! We originally set the day of our shoot to be on a Saturday,

so that streets were busy, and peoples reactions would be caught on camera. But after our first shoot, and having asked our actors opinions on the fluidity of the run, we decided that a busy street was a lot harder to film and actors felt that they couldn’t put full speed into it due to the public being in the way. But without full speed, the realism of the chase is lost.

So, we decided that a Sunday evening shot was best, as this time of day is usually a lot quieter but still allowing for some people to be passing on the street.

PLOT IDEA! At first we decided on opening our movie with the head

antagonist on the phone liaising with the second antagonist (the chaser). But we revised our decisions and felt that it would be much stronger and effective by doing a pan up of the victim, from toe to head, whilst a voiceover about the victim from the head antagonist is occurring. This is so that the victim is on screen for the audience to really picture from the voiceover, achieving a vivid image from the very start.
