The full power is needed for hardest conditionswith 4 m waves and 65 ton Dynamic pull.In such conditions, installed MRU detects shipmovement adn AHC control system keep thesubsea tool static.
Regenerated energy during paying out whenvessel is moving up in the wave, is charged in ultra condensators system and used againduring hauling operation.
This ultracap functioning allows system toreduce power consumption from the vesselin 200 KW

Off-Shore Applications
During the pay-out maneuver, braking torque is
applied for the electric motor shaft. The electric
motor is a reversible machine, and in this situation
it works as a generator converting kinetic energy
present in the rotor and load to electrical energy
at the terminals of the winding.
The generated energy must be sent to some
consumer so that the motor can maintain the
braking torque. In this application, the
regenerative energy will be sent to two possible
destinations:
Regenerative Energy Treatment
Ultracapacitors: The ultracapacitor module enables recovery of energy during the ‘heave up’ phase and releasing
it again during the ‘heave down’ phase. This can reduce the overall system power demand and therefore reduce
the total peak power required from the vessel or generator supply. Unlike batteries, ultracapacitors have up to 15
years of lifetime and no need for maintenance, which brings additional cost savings. The addition of capacitor-
based energy storage into the DC link of motor modules is merely an addition to the existing motor modules DC
link capacitors and is directly analogous to the use of hydraulic accumulators, which are ubiquitous on large
capacity AHC winches and serve the same purpose.
Braking Resistors: The energy that cannot be stored in the ultracapacitors will be burned in the braking resistors.
