Count it all joy when you fall into diverse trials because the trial of your faith worketh patience (James 1: 2-3).Trials are a part of the Christian experience; they bring out the best in us and refine us. Jesus learnt obedience through the things that he suffered (Heb 5:8). The fulfilling of our destiny is a process and patience is the virtue that is required. There is a promise that you inherit when you have patience. The trial of your faith works out in you a degree of glory (Isaiah 43: 1 -3). Sometimes you will go through rough waters, rivers and fire but you will come out stronger. There are several lessons we can learn from our father Abraham (Isaiah 51: 1-2). James 2: 23 says that Abraham was righteous and was called the friend of God. Abraham had a right standing with God even before Christ paid the price. Abraham had to pass many tests to get to that point. Your life in Christ is a movement. It is dynamic, not static. The bible likens our experience with a race; Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1 Cor 9:24 (KJV).

GROWING IN GRACE There is motion involved in growing in grace. After Abraham had sinned against God with his maid, God withdrew from him for 13 years before he appeared to him and instructed him to walk holy and blameless before him

in Gen17:1. God does not expect that you should be on the same spot when it comes to the issue of faith. At every point in time God will try your hearts and you must pass every test or examination before you’re promoted. God cannot promote you beyond your present level of obedience. There are levels and dimensions you can’t get to except you pass God’s test. The first man (Adam) came without being processed and he failed. The second Adam (Jesus) came as a baby and passed through the stages of growth and he succeeded.

THE TESTS OF ABRAHAM Abraham trusted God with his future. We can find this in Gen. 12: 1-4 when God instructed Abraham to go to an unknown location and he obeyed. Can you trust God with your future? At Abraham’s age he obeyed Gods instruction to move to an unknown location. How many of us can do that today? He trusted God with his issues. Can you trust God with your

issues? Is your faithfulness to God reflected in your faithfulness to man? Abraham’s faithfulness to God was reflected through his faithfulness to man. If you don’t have respect for man, you don’t have respect for God (Gen. 14: 13 – 18, Genesis 12:1-4, Genesis 17:2,4-10). Abraham recognized the spiritual structure that God instituted (tithes and offering) and he honored the man of God (Melchizedek). Contd on page 2

TESTIMONIES

I want to give God the glory for saving my younger sisters husband. He is a medical Doctor in Liberia. His roommate died of Ebola on 1st of July. He had also treated a matron he didn’t know had the

Ebola virus. The hospital was closed and he and the rest of staff at the hospital were isolated. I came to church 2nd week of July to meet with pastor to pray with me. On that Sunday pastor preached a message titled ‘Selah’ and he also talked about Gods protection. I called my brother-in-law after the service and shared the message with him. To the glory of God on the 21st of July he tested negative for Ebola infection. He was discharged but was not allowed to immediately come back to Nigeria. I kept telling him that nothing would happen to him. I want to appreciate God he is back to Nigeria without the Ebola disease. Sis. Tonia

DIVINE PROTECTION FROM EBOLA DIVINE PROTECTIONI want to thank God for his faithfulness in my life and the life of my mother. In 2003 she went to the hospital and the doctor said she had gall bladder stone and fibroid. She was operated

on her but they couldn’t find the stone and they took out her womb instead. Years later she started complaining of pains in the same place. She went for check-up and the doctor said she had gall bladder stone and that she will need to undergo surgery. The week before her surgery there were several dreams and revelations of celebrations without her presence and that she died. My family and I began to fast and pray. On the day of the surgery, her BP rose to 200/192 and her pulse rate to 52 which was not normal. At the end of the day, God took control of everything. The surgery was successful. I want to thank God that my family and I are not in sorrow today. Sis. Blessing

I want to thank God for adding another year to my years. This time last year, I met with pastor and I told him that I don’t want to remain the same in every ramification. God has done it for me! I have been promoted in my office which

is unusual and so many other things have changed in my life. I want to thank God I am going further and I am doing more than others. Praise God. Sis. Katherine

I want to thank God for saving my brother from a terrible car accident on Sunday 10th August 2014. After the service in church, I was on my way home when I received a call from my

brother’s phone but it wasn’t his voice. A man at the scene of the accident called me on my brother’s phone. I rushed to the place and found out he was fine but the car was badly damaged. I want to thank God for saving his life. He came out without any scratch. Sis. Olatinu

DIVINE PROMOTIONSAVED FROM A GHASTLY ACCIDENT

Testimonies have a way of reproducing themselves

Tithe is the evidence of victory, enhancement, intervention and provision that God has made available (Malachi 3: 8-10). When you pay tithe, it opens up the windows of heaven and provokes the blessings of God upon your life (Malachi 2:2).Every time you refuse to bring your tithe to God you are taking His glory; God can share every other thing with us except his glory. Abraham believed in the promises of God (Gen. 15: 1-6, Romans 4: 3). You have to constantly re-affirm

your trust in God. How have you demonstrated your faith towards God? (Gen. 15: 7-11); Abraham

received the promised land by faith (Heb. 11:11); Sara received strength to conceive through faith. As Christians we need to always demonstrate our faith in God. Abraham passed the test of obedience. (Gen.7: 9-27). In what occasions in your life have you acted simply in obedience to God and not because

you understood the significance of what you’re doing? Abraham did.

8 – RUNNING TITLE

The month of July is always seen as a milestone month; the harbinger of the second half of the year, a reminder that time is running out and that all goals set to be achieved by December, need to be revisited for a progress check. The month is usually welcomed with mixed feelings, as many associate it with uncompleted projects and unfulfilled dreams. But when Pastor Tunde Benjamins Laniyi took the stage and announced that the title of the message for that glorious day was ‘Selah’, which literally means to ‘pause’, to reflect’; it struck a chord in the hearts of those present as he reminded the congregation that in the midst of the turbulence, upheavals and unattained dreams, God is our refuge and strength, and a VERY present help in times of trouble and uncertainty. He reiterated that whatever POSITION we find ourselves in, the PRESENCE of God is always our greatest source of PROTECTION, so we should seek His presence and live a life free of fear. When NOSA took the stage to minister in songs to Gods people; he thrilled the crowd with renditions from the Niger Delta; enticing white handkerchiefs out of the bags, pockets and purses of those present, after which he began to minister songs from his album, ‘Open doors’. Songs such as ‘I go stay’, ‘Higher’, ‘Just one encounter’, ‘Already done’, ‘Why You love me so’, and rounding it up with the heartwarming ‘I go always pray for you’, which had most of the congregation on their feet, singing along and feeling uplifted and excited to be a part of the second half of 2014, the year of the Overflow.

EVENTS

The month of August is a month of New Beginnings. Pastor Akem of RCCG – Jesus House Parish, Abuja was the Guest Minister. He titled his message ‘Remember Lot’s wife’. As a serving Major General in the Nigerian Army, he testified that even service men and the most hardened and brutal of individuals, can be softened and brought under subjection to the Word of God and the Love of Jesus. Pastor Akem in his message spoke about our tendency as human beings to ponder on the past: past glories, past successes and achievements, and the propensity to grumble about how much better things were ‘in those days’. He explained that it is impossible for us to overcome in life when we refuse to let go of our past and trust God for the future. The tragic death of Lot’s wife is a painful reminder of the consequence of unbelief, doubt and disobedience. Proverbs 3:5 teaches us to ‘Trust in the Lord with ALL our heart…’, this means that even though the future seems bleak and the past held more promise than anything we are experiencing now, it is critical that we keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. Worship Minister, Freke Umoh took the meeting to another level with energetic praise. He led the people in popular praise and worship songs and literally set the place on fire. He encouraged everyone to rejoice, regardless of all the negative news being spewed out by the media on a constant basis. His ministration came to an end with his testimony of Gods faithfulness in his life and he also shared personal experiences that inspired his life changing song ‘You are my God’. August DHP came to a close with the premiere of the official video of Ogechas song, ‘Dumimaja (Hide me)’; stirring the congregation with an epic storyline which explained the concept of God as the ultimate hiding place, as well as His ability to use anyone and anything to provide cover and protection for His elect.

HEALTH TALK ONEBOLAEbola Haemorrhagic Fever (EHF) is caused by a virus known as the Ebola virus. First cases were reported in 1976 when they were isolated in bats residing in a cotton factory in Sudan. In order to help our Community better understand some of the key points about the Ebola virus we have consulted with some medical specialists to assembled this list of bullet points worded in plain language for easy comprehension.

MODE OF TRANSMISSION• Contact with blood and body

fluids (saliva, sweat, sputum, urine etc) of infected persons including semen.

• Handling or contact with reservoir animals such as bats, monkeys, pigs as well as bush meat.

• Contact with dead bodies of previously infected persons.

• Not air borne• Transmission via social

contact not likely

CLINICAL FEATURESTypically mimics that of malaria or an enteric fever. Constitutional symptoms such as:• Easy fatigability• fever• Headache• Joint pains• Nausea and vomiting• Spurious diarrhea• BleedingSymptoms would usually manifest within 2 and 21 days from time of contraction.

PREVENTION AND TREATMENTEbola viral disease can be successfully prevented:• Consistent proper hand

washing and good personal hygiene

• Personal Protective Equipment for health workers and caregivers.

• Quarantine for confirmed cases to make room for drug trials and research should be encouraged.

• Handle the remains of infected persons properly (embalming, traditional burial rituals should be discouraged); Cremation is a preferred alternative.

• No known treatment as yet, however, palliative and conservative management could be used.

MORE FACTS• Transmission to humans is

thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats.

• Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.

• Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids.

• Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.

• The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying.

• A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.

• Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feaces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat). • If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.

• You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool.

CAUTION!!!Bitter kola, kola nuts, salt water

bath cause more harm than good and are not beneficial.

SURVIVAL RATESDeath rates is often between 50% - 90%, persons that survive usually recover quickly and completely.

Intense WorshipIntense worship with Cohbams Asuquo was another uplifting time in God’s presence. The meeting which climaxed with a session of worship was kick started by the Throne Room Priests who began to stir the pool of God’s presence with an intense session of praise and worship. The service gradually metamorphosed into a word session with Bro. Tolu Ashaolu who talked about the ‘Generation of God Seekers’. Cohbams and his team ushered Gods people into another realm of worship that justified the theme of this epoch event.

The No Compromise connect is a body with a vision to empower and impact the youths of this generation and beyond by getting them to fulfil their God given purpose and to live lives worthy of the glory of God Almighty. In a nation where values are constantly suffering erosion, and ethics are consistently being abused, it is easy to write off its citizens and assume that the entire nation is plagued by this same identity of Compromise. The NCC is a company of people who are sold out to

the mandate of the kingdom of God, to preserve creation by being the salt, and give direction by being the Light of the world. The earnest expectation of the creature awaits the manifestation of the Sons of God, preserved and separated to represent a pillar of reference reminding the world that it is possible to have a vibrant relationship with God, and still maintain an excellent pedigree in all that you do. lead you. God’s thoughts and ways are higher; not logical and cannot be understood with human reasoning. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9 (KJV).2. Renew your mind dailyDo not be conformed to this world (this age), fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs, but be transformed (changed) by the entire renewal of your mind by its new ideals and its new attitude, so that you may prove for yourselves

what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and

acceptable and perfect in His sight for you. Romans 12:2 (AMP).For your imagination to be productive, you need to continually renew your mind. Because of the environment we find ourselves, we need to daily debug those viruses

(mediocrity, frustration, etc) that often infect our thoughts. This can

be done by meditating on the word of God and holding fast to God’s promises

and covenant over your life.3. Remain focusedLooking away from all that will distract to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith giving the first incentive for our belief and is also its Finisher bringing it to maturity and perfection. He, for the joy of obtaining the prize that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (AMP). Jesus ignored all the distractions that might want to take away the incomparable glory that awaited him. Though going through the toughest time of His ministry, he had the image of the glory ahead, and that was the driving force to obtaining the glory. If you can see it, you can become it.

Power of Imagination

Imagination is the ability to form a mental picture of something that is not perceived through the five senses. Imagination is birthed from the word ‘imagine and image’. It is the ability of the mind to build scenes, objects or events that do not exist. Every man created by God has the ability to imagine, and it can either be positive or negative. Imagination is a creative power. It is very vital in achieving success and we should use it positively. God has given us authority over our imagination to bring every thought in line with His word. Our imagination is our God given ability to tap into the mind of Christ. Because God’s ways and plans are beyond our understanding, God has given us the ability to see what He sees through a mental image on the canvas of our imagination. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV). We have been given the power to cast out evil thoughts and bring them to the obedience of the will and purpose of God in our lives. NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses. Hebrews 11:1 (AMP). Facts not yet revealed to the five senses, yet imagined are birthed through positive thinking (thoughts) -faith.

HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE WITH YOUR IMAGINATION1. Align your thoughts to God’s wordAvoid the realm of logical/human reasoning and tap into the mind of God, inviting His presence to fill your heart and spirit, then the Holy Spirit will

GBAMFA COMMUNITY: REACH OUT AND TOUCH

OUTREACH

On the 1st of March, 2014 , the gospel of Christ came to Gbamfa community, Abaji. After more than a 3 hour drive from Abuja city center, we had to step out to fix the simple plain wood bridge just to make way for our vehicles. As we arrived, the small square was full of villagers. They came empty handed but because of the free will donation of RCCG Throne Room Parish, they received food, clothes, shoes, bibles, medical consultation, and free dugs from our medical team. The medical teams gave free medical attention to the sick as well as HIV tests. There was also a counselling team available. Above all, we shared the gospel of hope to them and many gave their lives to Christ.
