Krystal has been working for Deerwood for the past several months and is responsible for a number of administrative tasks and is attending UNF majoring in Business Marketing. Recently she was promoted to Accounts Payable Coordinator. She is doing a great job and we are happy to have her on our team.
After a short cold snap in March, we are looking forward to spring and the best time of year to be in Jacksonville, Florida. A number of our premier events will be occurring in the next few months including: Easter Brunch, The Davis Cup, Mother’s Day Brunch, and the Swim Team Kick Off Party. Please call the Club to make reservations for these great upcoming events.
We are excited to announce that we have hired Lisa Wellham as our new Membership Sales Director. Lisa has extensive experience in sales and has had a successful career in the real estate industry and in creating sales and market-ing plans. Her initial focus will be to meet and get to know the members and the community residents in order to continue our initiative of building a strong com-munity and country club.
The “Drive for 100” Membership Campaign will kick off with a party on Thurs-day April 27th at 5:00 pm. Members are invited to bring a guest and enjoy com-plimentary food, entertainment, contests, prizes, and an open bar. A committee led by Jim Henry and Walter Collins are heading up this effort. Our goal is to have 100 members attend this event and bring a guest that would be interested in being a member at Deerwood. Your help with this effort would be greatly ap-preciated!
The capital improvement plans for 2017 includes; Fitness Center exterior painting, new exercise room flooring, golf pro shop updates, new water feature at the Kids Pool, upgrading clubhouse and tennis bathrooms and court renovations at the ten-nis facility. We expect these projects to begin in April.
Member events coming in April: Grapes and Greens – April 2nd, Master’s Brunch – April 9th, Seafood Buffet – April 14th, and Teen Night – April 21st. The Wednes-day Buffet will have a Seattle theme featuring Mt. Rainer Chicken Breast, Codfish, Queen Ann Island Mussels and Shrimp Scampi. Friday night will feature our Prix Fixe menu created by our outstanding Sous Chef, Katie Lopez. With great weather ahead the staff and I look forward to seeing our members at the club. Don’t forget to refer a friend or family member to Deerwood, as it is the best way to grow our membership and to be a vibrant and active club.
Sincerely,Gary G. PiotrowskiGeneral Manager/COO

Spring is in the air and with it brings a lot of golf activity. Our team match play event kicks off the month and will be ongoing through the spring and summer months. Partners will play at least two better ball matches in elimination style brackets. The Davis Cup Men’s Member-Member Tournament will be contested on April 21 & 22. We anticipate a full field and a great time to be had by all for this premier event. TPC week will be here very soon and the golf shop is taking reservations for play that week. We are scheduled to host 8:00am shotgun starts Wednesday through Saturday to accommodate a maximum number of players. Contact the golf shop for more details including rates and availability. The golf shop has been stocking up with new spring apparel and equipment lines including Peter Millar, Foot Joy, Callaway, and Taylor Made to name a few. The Professional Staff is equipped with several club fitting systems, launch monitor and plenty of demo clubs to fulfill all your equipment needs. We will host our annual Demo Day event on Master's Saturday, April 8. A reminder to all Members that we offer the Buy at Deerwood Program at a fee of $175 per year that will make all purchases 12% above cost. A great savings for anyone considering an equipment purchase! Junior golf is in full swing and our programming is off to a great start. PGA Junior Golf League has expanded to 2 teams and will begin April 11. To prepare those competing at TPC this spring we are hosting a Drive, Chip & Putt training and competition on Saturday, April 15. This will be a fun event for ALL juniors to participate in and get a taste for how the event works. In addition, we have rescheduled our annual Speed Golf Marathon to Sunday, April 23 at 3pm with the goal being to play as many holes as you can in 2 hours. Members are encouraged to donate either an amount per hole or a lump sum for each participant. Cost of the entry is a cart fee for the parents or other family Members to shuttle participants.
