Contractual – “A contractual brief is a type of brief or contract where a media company is employed by the client in order to complete a project within the brief which is set to specific guidelines which the media company must follow. It will be very important for the media company to follow these guidelines and do exactly what the client states within the brief, if they fail to do so this can result in a breech of contract and the company could face legal actions.” http://creativemediaatjt.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/contractual-brief.html

This brief is where a media company will be hired by a client who will then set certain guidelines that must be followed to complete a project. It is very important that the media company follow the guidelines and brief otherwise the media company could face legal actions.

NHS Health and Safety Promotional Video

Communication - This brief would be done formally because there isn’t much communication involved. I would be contacted by the client and asked to complete this project either in a meeting or over the phone. To keep communicated with the client during the process of the project I would use email, or contact them over the phone if there were any issues.

Time management - if the client set a deadline for the project to be completed, I would have to ensure I completed it within the time limit.

Technical Skills - This would depend on what the client wanted the video to look like. Reality, which would need me to go out and film real life scenarios or an animated video, either way I would use software such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and Premier Pro

Career progression – If the client was impressed by end product then they would hopefully ask me to complete other various projects instead of searching for other people. Also they could promote me which would possibly get me more work.

Negotiated - “This type of brief will be brought up if the co-operative brief given to the two of more media companies that are competing the project have any issues between themselves about the brief or anything they would like to clear up with the client. Through the negotiations the brief can then be changed in order to suite every party taking part in the production. This could be anything from changing the appearance of the product to changing the products content as well as keeping it to the guidelines set in the brief.” http://creativemediaatjt.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/negotiated-brief.html

This brief is usually brought up when two or more media companies working on the same project have any issues that they feel should be cleared up with the client. These issues could be anything from the products appearance, or content. This brief can then be changed to suit everyone working on that project but still staying within the guidelines previously set.

Podcast

Communication - For this type of brief, I would keep in touch with the client through meetings mostly or over the phone. This will help if the client or media company have certain issues that needed to be cleared up.

Time management – I will be told about the deadlines by the client. To ensure I complete the project within the time I have been given I will use my time management skills. If there are any issues I would then bring it up for it to be negotiated.

Formal – “This this where a media company is given a brief by the client which outlines the product which they are wanting to be made. This brief is very open and only gives enough information to be able to produce the product, any issues or information that the media company would like to go over can be discussed during the negotiations with the client. Both the client and the company employed by them will formally agree on the project and the brief but it cannot always be legally binding.” http://creativemediaatjt.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/formal-brief.html

A formal brief is where a media company is given a brief that contains very specific details on how the client wants the product to be made. The brief gets straight to the point but has enough information to produce the product. Usually the client and media company that has been employed will agree on the brief and project but this cannot always be legally binding. If there are any issues the media company can bring them up with the client during the negotiation. Logo Design

A commission brief is where an independent media company will be employed by a larger media company to create and idea for a product then produce it. After this product is made the larger company will use the product for an external client. The external client will pay the independent media company for making it; sometimes they can get a small percentage of the royalties. Fourwalls short film project is the client, but David Lammy MP will take an important part in the project.

This is the deadline for the product to be delivered to the client.

From this we know that the target audience the client wishes the product appeals to is people who live in London.

The only requirements this this project, is for the short film to be no longer than 3 minutes and to respond to the brief. The short film can be any genre.

If the filmmaker uses music throughout the short film, they must have permission to use it or gets un-copyrighted music from YouTube’s music library or Vimeo. This would be a legal issue if the filmmaker used copyrighted music. An ethical issue would be if the filmmaker promoted the client or the focus of the film in a negative way.

Kelsey Keighley

The client is the Marbella International Film Festival.

The requirements are a short film that last a maximum of 30 minutes. It also has to include credits.

The client states that the product must be submitted by the 15th of June 2015.

This film festival is being submitted and screened in Marbella. So the main target audience for this festival would be Spanish people, although it doesn’t state that is for Spanish people only. It also says to add Spanish subtitles if

There could be a few legal and ethical issues; one would be if the filmmaker promoted the client or the focus of the film in a negative way. If the filmmaker uses music throughout the short film, they must have permission to use it or gets un-copyrighted music from YouTube’s music library or Vimeo.
