What is the Joint Defra/ Environment Agency Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk
Management R&D Programme ?The Joint Programme aims to help inform policy development and ensure that flood and coastal erosion risk management measures are delivered in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. It provides us with the key scientific knowledge, evidence, information, and tools and techniques required to develop:
Policy and strategy for flood and coastal erosion risk management
The ability to understand and assess flood and coastal erosion risks and the processes by which these risks arise
The ability to manage the assets used in flood and coastal erosion risk management sustainably
The ability to prepare for and manage flood incidents effectively
