Introduction

The need for efficient dehumidification is not just restricted to neither construction work, water damage, production processes, swimming pools and waterworks and other obviously damp areas. Buildings, valuables and people in all sorts of climates will often benefit from dehumidification in less obvious everyday situations. The outdoor air is never completely dry anywhere in the world, and indoors multiple sources add to the relative humidity of the indoor air: transpiration from people; steam from cooking and bathing; humidity emanating from production processes or the storage of damp goods; even building materials and furniture slowly drying out add to the overall humidity of a room. Due to ever rising energy prices, buildings are much better insulated than before. The insulation might keep out the cold, but it also reduces the air change and traps humidity. A sure sign is dew on on windows, which can easily turn into moisture causing damage to the woodwork.
Why do we need dehumidification
Water is always in the air, inside and outside the home. The amount inside the home varies and is increased by many routine daily life activities such as cooking, washing, showering, making tea and breathing. If you have uncovered water containers in the home like fish tanks etc, then these will also add to the amount of water in the air.
Where does the water come from
DanVex dehumidifiers work by drawing air from the room over a coil cooled to a very low temperature by a refrigeration system. These are commonly known as refirigeration dehumidifiers ( Domestic, Swimming pool, Industrial, Stationary series ). The water vapor condenses on the cold surface and the liquid water drips into the water collection bucket underneath.
An alternative method known as desiccant dehumidifiers ( Adsorption series ). The desiccant dehumidifiers pass the air over a wheel coated with a water absorbing material ( called desiccant). The water is removed from the desiccant by passing a stream of warm air through it whereby it is dried and re-generated to collect more moisture on its next pass.

Domestic Dehumidifiers
DanVex dehumidifiers allow for consistent and dependable control to prevent the effects of humidity on archives.
Dehumidification is essential in the preservation of rare objects, records, paintings and books. Museums, libraries and archives are all custodians of national heritage and help to keep cultures alive through invaluable paintings, objects d'art and historical records. Therefore it is important that these items be preserved in their original state for future generations to enjoy.
The natural environment takes its toll over the years and can lead to the decaying of paper, parchments, photographic negative film, as well as fading of organic dyes and colors. Constantly changing temperatures and humidity levels can also contribute to this process. Humidity, in particular, is a natural enemy of preservation. We are all familiar with the various forms of organic corrosion in which decay can occur at a rapid level in the presence of high humidity. Dehumidification keeps the relative humidity level low and stable, therefore retarding or preventing decay from organic mold formation.
The compact design ensures that the Domestic series dehumidifier fits in most locations. This allows discreet control of the relative humidity and reduction of allergens such as dust mites, mould and dry rot.
By removing moisture from the air, DanVex domestic dehumidifiers regulate humidity and create comfortable living conditions that are inhospitable to dust mites, mold, mildew, and other allergens. Domestic dehumidifiers come in a variety of sizes, models, and styles. Each unit is built to tackle unique humidity problems.
DanVex domestic dehumidifiers reduce allergens by controlling humidity in your home, but they also can be used in basements, crawlspaces, bathrooms, laundry rooms, museums, and indoor pool areas to maintain humidity levels and to keep these areas dry and comfortable.

The optimal protection against moisture and corrosion at low cost
Humidity control
for museums, libraries,
archival storage
Museums and libraries should maintain humidity levels of 40 - 45% RH. This level of humidity prevents drying out of the materials while, at the same time, preventing warping and the formation of mildew. Archival storage may have different requirements depending on the item being stored. Negative film storage requires temperatures of 12-20°C and a relative humidity of 30%, while drawings and maps can be stored at temperatures as low as 10°C and 30% RH.
Dehumidification, when used in conjunction with air conditioning, can provide the perfect environmental storage conditions for all sorts of valuable artifacts, documents and works of art.

Swimming pool Dehumidifiers
DEH-1700p
Swimming pool dehumidification solution
Indoor swimming pools and spa rooms are very unique in their maintenance demands. When pool water is heated to swimming temperatures, large amounts of moisture are released into the indoor pool enclosure. This moisture is heavily laden with chlorine or bromine disinfectants, and it attacks everything it comes in contact with. If left uncontrolled, mold and mildew will eventually permeate indoor swimming pool facility, as well as any adjoining structures.
Human comfort levels are very sensitive to relative humidity. Fluctuation of relative humidity outside the 40% - 60% range can result in increased levels of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other factors that can lead to respiratory problems.DanVex Swimming pool dehumidifier is one of essential components that are necessary in your project for humidity control.
DEH-600wp/1000wp
Typical Applications for Swimming pool Dehumidifiers
Dehumidification for Home Indoor Swimming Pools
Unchecked moisture causes building insulation to lose its insulating ability. Wooden structures warp, rot and decay. Mold and mildew cause blistering paint and rust formation on metal objects such as light fixtures, conduit, furniture, door knobs and hinges.
The relationship between relative humidity and indoor air quality is well documented. Besides the destructive effects on building components, high relative humidity levels inside a building can pose serious health concerns. They facilitate the growth of mold and mildew which, in addition to being unsightly, can attack wall, floor and ceiling coverings. Spores can adversely impact indoor air quality.
Dehumidification for Hotel pool rooms
A hotel can have many moisture sources. Fountains, reflecting pools and gardens release moisture into the air. Showers, baths and whirlpools in hotel rooms create steam.
A hotel pool room presents even more challenges. Multiple pools and waterslides found in indoor waterparks require high volumes of water. Splashing and perspiring from swimmers increases the normal evaporation rate in the room.

Dehumidification is accomplished by moving room air through the dehumidifying coil which lowers the air temperature below its dew point. Moisture will condense on this coil thus removing a large portion of the moisture from the air.
The heat recovered by the above mentioned process, known as latent heat, and the electrical consumption of the compressor is delivered by the reheat condenser coil. The air leaving the evaporator coil enters the reheat condenser coil and picks up the available heat and exits the dehumidifier as warm dry air.

DEH-900i/1200i
A vast majority of materials that are used to construct new buildings are applied as a wet process.
Concrete slabs, screeds, plaster, wall and floor coverings are all applied in this way. As these processes cure, vast amounts of excess moisture are liberated into the building
space. The speed at which this moisture is released will dictate the curing or drying time of the material.
Controlling the building space temperature and humidity will effectively control the speed at which this happens.
Speeding up building drying
Dehumidification is mainly applied to dry out excess water content in materials in connection with construction work.
In case of drying out a newly constructed building you should also keep air change low, but the most important parameter to consider is the water content in the various materials used. Often you have to meet a deadline , you have to consider a time to complete the works.
Formerly construction work on an average building went on for 6-9 months and the building materials were usually dried out by natural ventilation by the time the building was finished. Today, however, construction work is very efficient and much faster. This means that dehumidification is required to remove the excess water in the various building materials before the building can be occupied.
When selecting a dehumidifier for drying out a building you need to consider how much water should be removed , ambient temperature and how much time you have for it.
This is actually quite a difficult task. In some cases it is possible to estimate the amount of water in the building materials from tables. Please note that in regards to drying out a newly constructed building it all comes down to the specific building materials used for walls, floors and roofs. The water content of various building materials differ so much that a simple rule of thumb is unworkable.

Due to the unique nature of a refrigeration circuit, energy removed from the air during the dehumidification process is converted into useable heat. Typically, for every 1kW of Electrical energy that a dehumidifier consumes, it will give out 2.4 kW of heat energy. Thus by removing moisture from the air, rather than heating it to a high temperature, Industrial dehumidifiers DanVex will dry in a gentle, more controllable manner. This alleviates possible material shrinkage and cracking problems associated with high temperature drying methods and saves substantial running costs.

DanVex dehumidifiers allow for consistent and quality products to be produced efficiently by preventing the effects of humidity.
Hard candies often contain corn sugars and sorbitol, both of which are highly hygroscopic. When humidity is high, the product can absorb moisture and become sticky, which can cause it to stick to the packaging machinery and wrapping material, slowing the process and creating sanitary problems.
Any coated candy like gumballs or chocolate-covered nuts can benefit from using dry air to speed drying. In the case of chocolate, high temperatures would melt or dent the products. With gumballs, the gloss of the coating is enhanced by using dry air, and the product is less likely to stick together in the coating pan.
Humidity control for food industries
In general, the highly hygroscopic nature of the ingredients in most candies makes them sticky, runny or moldy when exposed to humid conditions. This inhibits natural flow as the material sticks to high speed processing and packaging machinery and wrapping material, thus slowing the process and creating hygiene problems.
Moisture gain also affects the storage and shelf life of most candies. Proper candy storage is essential for reasons such as:
The marketing season of the candy.
The stability of the candy (based on proper manufacturing conditions).
The storage temperature and humidity conditions.
The solution to the problem lies in surrounding the processing, packaging and storage areas with cool, dehumidified air.
DEH-3K

Adsorption Dehumidifiers

Working principle
The fan inhausts the humid ambient air which goes via rotating rotor filled with the high-effective silica gel on fiberglass carrier. The rotor design provides for two parallel air flows and maximum contact with absorbent. The humid air flow goes via dry part of the rotor on which the moisture is absorbed and the dehumidified air returns to the premises.
The regenerating air flow is intended to recover the absorbed moisture from the rotor for that the air intake is made from outside the premises and then the air is heated before to go via rotor. Passing the small rotor segment it absorbs the moisture and removes it back outside the premises. In course of operation the rotor rotates continuously that provides the continuous automated process.

Adsorption dehumidifiers are normally used for different industrial manufacturing process or for dehumidification of rooms and storage areas where an environment of low relative humidity is required by humidity sensitive products or materials such as drugs, food, candy and so on. The well approved method of drying air through adsorption offers a great flexibility in solving humidity problems. The humidity of the air can be controlled to dew points well below the limits of a condensation type of dehumidifier. Also air with a relative humidity of 100% can be dehumidified without harming the rotor material.
AD-200 is a compact dehumidifier with separate air flows for process air and regeneration air. This unit is particularly
well-suited for installations that require air with a low moisture content.Cabinet in stainless steel.
AD-550 is an efficient adsoption dehumidifier designed for tackling dehumidification problems. AD-550 is often used for room dehumidification and small processing plants.

High-performance operation at low temperatures ensures fast results in emergency situations minimizing long-term damage caused by flooding and corrosion.
An adsorption dehumidifier removes water from a volume of air that passes through it. The heart of this process is an adsorption rotor coated with a special substance that absorbs the water molecules that make up the moisture in the passing air. When saturated, the rotor is rotated over to a regeneration zone, where it is dried with heated air.
The warm, humid regeneration air is led away out of the building, and the rotor is once again ready to absorb water molecules.

RATE OF CORROSION
FOR FERROUS METALS
DanVex dehumidifier prevent the damaging effects of corrosion due to the formation of condensation.
In general, it is safe to assume that most materials, particularly ferrous metals, are subject to corrosion. By this we mean that every substance eventually changes from one form to another as a result of chemical reactions. Many of these reactions, particularly those which depend upon oxygen, are catalyzed and accelerated by moisture.
Ferrous metals, such as iron and steel, are well known for their corrosion in the presence of moisture. Less well known is the fact that glass corrodes and cracks at a rate which varies according to the moisture on its surface. Pure crystals, such as sodium iodide and lithium fluoride can also corrode, forming oxides and hydroxides in proportion to the moist air. Nonferrous metals such as copper are more sensitive to corrosion than plates of ferrous metals.
In corrosion prevention applications, the controlled space is maintained at a specific relative humidity and temperature so that the products or material in the controlled space cannot absorb moisture from the surrounding atmosphere. Thus the products are also protected from corrosion. As a general rule, rust and other oxidizing type corrosion reactions will not occur if the relative humidity in the area is maintained at or below 40% R.H. Materials or product residing in this atmosphere need not be coated with oil or other surface protection, and can thus be kept in ready-to-use condition.
Protection against corrosion
DanVex dehumidifiers allow for consistent and quality products to be produced efficiently by preventing the effects of humidity.
Brewing requires large amounts of heat, water and malted grain. All of these components are necessary for growing yeast which turns natural sugars into alcohol. In a brewery yeast is a beneficial fungus, however if ambient humidity levels remain unchecked, microbes and fungus may grow in its place and disrupt the brewing process.
Hygiene is an inherent problem in any brewery or distillery. The growth of mold and fungus on walls, in the hops storage area and in the fermentation and yeast rooms is caused by one common factor...humidity.
The brewing process requires very low temperatures which can result in condensation on the tanks and vats containing the beer. In addition the presence of high humidity due to frequent water usage for cleaning make conditions perfect for condensation and growth of bacteria. Dehumidification can eliminate organic corrosion, mold, mildew and fungus in yeast rooms, fermentation rooms, storage facilities and kegging areas. Other benefits of dehumidification include improved sanitary conditions, reduced maintenance costs, frost free operation and quicker drying of floors after washing.
Maintaining high quality in all aspects of the production of beer is of prime importance to all beer brewer employees. So when they had problems with condensation, bacteria and sanitary conditions within their production area they should apply for dehumidification.
