Dear DeKalb Residents:
Did you know DeKalb County holds a long history of sustain-ability? The region is one of
Georgia’s largest sources of recovered materials. For its compressed natural gas (CNG) fl eet vehicles, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division uses natural gas produced at the Seminole Road Landfi ll. During the second quarter of 2015, half of DeKalb County’s tractors and front load-er vehicles will be fueled by CNG.
You’ve helped us make strides toward sustainability, and we are still on that journey. When you recycle, you are keeping the environment clean, saving precious natural resources for our future, and reducing the need for new landfi lls. DeKalb County’s Curbside Recycling Program contributes to this eff ort, and I encourage each of you to take part.
Currently, more than 59,000 single-family homeown-ers are enrolled in our recycling subscription service. However, we encourage more of the county’s eligible homeowners to participate.
Imagine what we can accomplish if just half of our eligible DeKalb residents enroll. For more information about the Curbside Recycling Program, and to sub-scribe, please visit www.keepdekalbbeautiful org.
Additionally, in 2015, we anticipate upgrades to our overall quality of service to ensure our neighborhoods are cleaner and neater. Please stay tuned for further updates.
Together, we can ensure DeKalb County remains a great place to live.
Sincerely,
Lee May
DeKalb County Interim CEO
