WHAT IS DEKTON?
The Metamorphic Process in Nature
Igneous rock is naturally formed with pressure from the surface and heat from the Earth’s core.
Syntering process
Dekton slabs come from differentsthicknesses from 4 mm to 30 mm, soyou can choose the most appropiateoption depending on the application, desing or desire effect.
Thanks to its mechanical propertieswhich are 3 times better thangranite, Dekton offers limitlesspossibilities for every surface in smallor larget format, from façades tohigh-flooring traffic.

Rafa Nadal Academy, Manacor, Mallorca
Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, came into being in 2016 with the aim of becoming a benchmark centre in the world of tennis at an international level. The architectural project consists of more than 24,000 m2 located throughout a range of facilities including the halls of residence, training school, hotel, sports courts, changing rooms, bar, clinic, and outdoor common areas.
The project was fitted with more than 40,000 m2 of UCS panels of all thicknesses and for different applications, such as facades, flooring, interior wall cladding, countertops, stairs, baseboards, swimming pools.

Case Study: Porsche Design Boutique, Oak Brook, IL
In conceptualizing the Porsche Design boutique, architect Eric Styer of DXU Architects sought a façade material that would embody the client’s design philosophy and that would set it apart from adjacent storefronts in an upscale retail development.
The design concept required a material that would achieve a minimalist, homogeneous look, with understated detailing. Key considerations such as budget, performance, and aesthetic eliminated initial materials including stone, tile, and fiber cement board. However, the zero-porosity, UV and freeze/thaw resistance, and dimensional stability characteristics of UCS made the material an ideal solution for the installation.
Case Study: Porsche Design Boutique, Oak Brook, IL
The façade was applied as a rainscreen that is structurally independent from the base building structural system, allowing for water and air to circulate behind the 1.2 cm thick, 320 cm x 144 cm (approx. 5 ft x 10 ft) UCS slabs, installed using a railing system. The large format size of UCS slabs minimizes the number of visible joints on the façade, creating a sleek, sophisticated appearance that mirrors the brand identity of Porsche.
Additionally, the durability of the façade was a key consideration. The storefront is located at a high-traffic corner in the retail development so the material must be able to stand up to day-to-day wear and tear without damage. Foot-traffic concerns aside, the climate is highly varied from season to season, so the freeze/thaw resistance and stability offered by UCS is essential in ensuring the façade’s integrity.
Case Study: Leon Judah Blackmore Pavilion, Vancouver, BC
This façade project was specified via Keith Panel Systems (KPS). The original specification called for marble, but UCS slabs were presented as alternative due to their long term durability, sustainability, and ease of cleaning.
To meet the short lead time to supply this project with the façade panels, 20 UCS panels were fabricated in North America by a California fabricator, Giallo Stone, in only three days. The slabs were shipped to KPS in one day to meet the installation schedule.

prior to panels arriving.
Panels came pre-drilled for
anchor bolts.
Anchors are secured to all
panels according to pre-drilled
hole locations. No mesh is
required.
Suction cups were used and two people were
required to lift panels with the anchors onto the
horizontal track. Once lifted onto the substructure,
the team could then slide them into place and
adjust for square.
Case Study: Leon Judah Blackmore Pavilion, Vancouver, BC
Spacers are used to ensure a consistent space of ⅜″ is
left between the panels to accommodate expansion and
contraction of the substructure, and to prevent chipping at
the edges of the panels when they are moved into place.
Approximately 500 square feet of UCS material was installed. The
project was completed on May 22, 2017.
Case Study: LUMA Hotel, New York, NY
The LUMA Hotel, designed by Peter Poon Architects, used UCS slabs of varying thicknesses between 1.2 cm and 2 cm for a total of 900 ft2 for its ventilated façade. The slabs are attached to the CMU (concrete masonry unit) substrate using a mechanical assembly and adhesives.
The UCS cladding is used both as a rainscreen and as a decorative element to tie the design of the overall hotel entry together. The UCS material was used to continue the modern, flat appearance into the lobby for stair treads and large format flooring.
The finished façade is sleek and sophisticated. Even though this hotel is in a busy city center, the durability, stain and graffiti resistance, thermal shock resistance, UV stability, and other attributes, will keep this façade looking new for man years to come.
Case Study: LUMA Hotel, New York, NY
Case Study: South Shore Hospital, Boston, MA
Large format, 1.2 cm thick UCS panels are held onto the building structure with an engineered DBVR rainscreen.
UCS was selected because of its unique properties, graffiti/stain resistance, and modern contrast to the other fascia elements used on this new hospital entrance.
This project was completed in summer of 2017, on time and on budget.
Case Study: South Shore Hospital, Boston, MA
Case Study: Atlantic Packaging, Charlotte, NC
UCS slabs were attached to the Atlantic Packaging office building using a concealed fastening system designed by KEIL anchor.
Installed in the fall of 2017, the large format, 1.2 cm thick panels were selected for their unique look, flatness as compared to other options (natural stone, porcelain, metal), ease of cleaning, and durability (for years to come).

Dekton: Domoos Matte & Spectra XGloss
Thickness: 1.2cm Rainscreen
In conceptualizing the University of Missouri entrance of Champions (south end zone), the architect wanted to create a stunning aesthetic with an extremely durable product. The design of the lower walls was inspired by Mizzou’s iconic diamond pattern.
The extreme stain/graffiti resistance, zero-porosity, UV stability, and dimensional stability of Dekton made it the ideal solution for this project.
