NOVEMBER : ELOCUTION COMPETITION
Young and innocent minds of our students are prepared in the morning assembly everyday by
conducting oath/pledge- “I shall neither give bribe nor take bribe. I shall not allow any
corrupt practices in the area of my influence.”
During Vigilance Awareness week celebration, Nalco organized various competitions with a motto
to ward off corruption. 9 students of classes IX, X, XI &XII participated in English and Hindi Elocution
Competition organized by Vigilance Deptt of Nalco on the occasion of Vigilance Week- 2017 in the
auditorium hall of S&P Training Institute on 2nd
November on the topic “Can Corruption be wiped off
from India?” The following students were honoured by the Chief Guest Mr.Yatindra Koyal, IPS,DIG
with winning prizes, medals and certificates. Our English and Hindi Dept. teachers had been appointed
judges for deciding the winners among Nalco employees participated in the written Competition-Essay
cum Slogans. Mrs.Sabita Chakra Borty,TGT Hindi was one of the judges for debate competition
organized for Nalco employees.

NOVEMBER : INTER HOUSE DISPLAY BOARD COMPETITION
“Art is as natural as Sunshine & as vital as Nourishment”
The Inter-House Display Board Competition was held on 3rd
November. All the four houses displayed
their talent, creative and aesthetic skills. The judges were Mr.A.K. Danshana AGM (CPP) & Mr.
B.N.Behera TGT Fine Arts, SVM School. The innovative ideas of the students could be seen in the
form of excellent and colorful display as interesting topics on Significance of Kartik Purnima and
Children‟s Day- Bal Divas depicted in their own creative ways. This brought out not only the creativity of
the students but they were also made to learn to work together as a team to achieve a common goal. The

NOVEMBER : INTER HOUSE COMEDY SHOW COMPETITION
“Comedy is simply a funny way of being serious and imparting message besides laugh and
entertainment.”
A hilarious comedy show was organized for classes VI & VII students. The jubilant comedians came to
the stage to give the best of their performance outlined with the message they conveyed through comic
and life-like expressions. Mr. P.K.Sahu, Sr.Mgr(LAB), Smelter & Mr. S. Mallick, Jr. Mgr (C &I)
Carbon Area(Smelter) graced the occasion. There were 3 groups each from different houses. The
histrionic performances of the following students led to their winning post.

NOVEMBER : CHILDHOOD CELEBRATED-CHILDREN’S DAY
Children‟s Day is to celebrate “Childhood.” Children are loved by one and all. They win our hearts with
their innocent smiles. DPS NalcoNagar always strives to emerge out with something new for its students
and Children‟s Day being a day especially for them the school staff thought of a different beat and gifted
a fun. This day as we know marks the birthday of Pandit Nehru and his love for children. It was
celebrated with gaiety and fervor at school auditorium on 14th
November. It was fun filled day for the
students. The special assembly was held at different levels which had informative and inspiring play,
songs, orchestra, speech and many more. Teachers performed various cultural items reflecting their love
and affection for the children. The students enjoyed all the items and there was a giggle on the face of
every Dipsites and enjoyed themselves being a blessed childhood.

NOVEMBER : EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TRIP : VISIT OF HEAVY WATER PLANT
Forty two NTSE appearing students of class X got the golden opportunity to visit Heavy Water Plant at
FCI, Talcher on 15th
November escorted by Mr.P.K.Panda,TGT Maths and Mrs.Kalyani Panda, TGT
Physics. They witnessed a power point presentation on harnessing atomic energy, documentary on heavy
water plant, visited the different parts of plant like laboratory, witnessed the advanced apparatus of
distillation, stirring, mass spectrograph and titration etc. and effluent treatment plan and main plant site-
fractional distillation. Learning beyond the book by visiting actual site and witnessing the function of
plants in reality leave more impact on the mind of learners.

NOVEMBER : INTER HOUSE ELOCUTION COMPETITION
The efficacy of an Individual’s elocution to influence millions is ineluctable.
This turned fruitful with the competency our proud Dipsites showed in Inter-house Elocution competition
that was held on 17th
November for classes VIII &IX students on the topic “The Influence of Western
Culture Teaches Wrong Values.” Mrs Ahimsa Priyadarshini Senapathy, TGT Eng,SVM School
NalcoNagar and Rooma Palit , Ex TGT Eng, DPS Nalconagar graced the occasion and addressed the

NOVEMBER : INTER HOUSE HINDI STORY TELLING
“Story telling is an art. Further telling story with action, expressions and entering into characters
have a great impact over the audience.”
Keeping in view of this, Classes VI & VII students were given an apt platform to develop their flair of
writing in Inter-House Hindi Story Telling Competition. The following students came out with flying
colours in this competition.

NOVEMBER : LITERARY FESTIVAL AT KIIT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL,
BHUBANESWAR
The 5th
KIIT International School Bhubaneswar National Children‟s Literary Festival was inaugurated on
18th
November. The two-days literary Fest was inaugurated in the presence of Padma Bhusan Ruskin
Bond, Chief Advisor of the festival and a galaxy of eminent authors, publishers, story-tellers,
cartoonists and illustrators including Prajwal Parajuly, Arup Bose, Ameen Haque and Ajit
Narayan. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT &KIIS, also attended the fest, which is being
organized by Kloud9 and hosted by KIIT International School. The festival was first of its kind and was
exclusively for children.
The dignitaries enthralled the participants with an array of talks, cartooning and photography
workshops, panel discussion, vocabulary sessions and a lot more. This fest was joined by renowned
National Award Winning Film Director Nila Madhab Panda, showcasing his upcoming film, „Kadvi
Hawa‟ accompanied with Sanjai Mishra, Ranvir Shorey and Manish Mundra who have acted in the film.
Other highlights were- Rangbaaz acclaimed theatre group from Mumbai performed on Jungle Book-2
based on Rudyard kipling‟s famous story about Mowgli and his adventures on 19th
November.
Bhubaneswar Comedians came together for a humorous, rib-tickling performance. Participants also
learned sixty words in 30 minutes through Bollywood songs. The two day literary fest was a bonanza,
enriching and memorable experience for one and all. It could instill in young minds the enthusiasm for
literature. 18 Students of DPS NalcoNagar had the proud privilege to attend such interesting workshops
and participated stiff competitions like 60 minutes to fame, poetry Slam and Story writing. Tamanna
Swain bagged first prize in Cartooning and brought laurels to the institution.

NOVEMBER : INTER HOUSE POSTER MAKING COMPETITION - CLASSES VI AND
VII
“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainty. Painting and drawing has its own language
which gives more clear and effective expression.”
An Inter House Poster making competition for students of classes VI & VII was held on 24th
November.
The topic was “Save Girl Child.” Each house participated with immense zeal and enthusiasm. They
exhibited their talent through their art work accompanied with relative captions and slogans.

NOVEMBER : INTER HOUSE DUET SONG COMPETITION- CLASSES VIII AND IX
“Music gives wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” With this feeling,
the Inter-House Duet Song Competition was held on24th November in the school auditorium. Mr.
Shitikanta Mishra, SVM &Mr. Bidya Nayak,Singer,Angul graced the occasion with their benign
presence and judged worthily. The auditorium was enchanted with mellifluous performances showed by

NOVEMBER : DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL CELEBRATES INVESTITURE CEREMONY IN
THE SENIOR SCHOOL CAMPUS.
“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality”
The investiture Ceremony of DPS NalcoNagar for the academic session2017-18 was held with great
pomp and dignity in a special ceremony in the school auditorium. The event was presided over by Mr.
R.K. Mishra, ED S&P Complex & Pro Vice Chairman of our school, Mrs. Mamata Mishra, the
first lady of Nalco, Mr. Yatinder Koyal IPS, DIG, Angul graced the occasion by his benign presence
as Chief Guest..It was conducted with the high degree of earnestness and passion. It signifies the
reliance and confidence that the school consigns in the newly invested office bearers. Donning the mantle
of accountability, they also pledged to bestow their duties to the best of their abilities, uphold the school
motto of loyalty, truth and honour in high esteem. It was commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the
honourable dignitaries followed by welcome song and dance. They were conferred with shoulder and
chest badges and Sashes by honourable ED Mr. R.K.Mishra, Mr. Yatindra Koyal,DIG, Mrs. Mamta
mishra, the first lady of Nalconagar and revered Principal Dr. B.K.Mishra. He congratulated them
and admonished them to be impartial and honest in discharging their duties.

NOVEMBER : DPS ATTENDED PHILATELY WORKSHOP AND QUIZ AT BB HIGH
SCHOOL, DHENKANAL
“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest”
Carrying this idea in mind, our students of Classes VII to IX, DPS Nalconagar took the golden
opportunity to attend Philately workshop and quiz at B.B High School at Dhenkanal on 27th
November
escorted by Mr. A. Noor Social Science Teacher. The workshop was conducted by eminent National
level Philatelist Mr. H. B. Ojha. The students were given exposure to Philately- the art of stamp
collection. They also saw thousands of stamps, rare and priceless foreign collections. Mr. H.B.Ojha also
explained how to collect, preserve and exhibit stamps and importance of Philately. A written quiz on
philately was also conducted for the same. The students returned with rich experience and knowledge.
TOWARDS A GREATER HEIGHTS OF PROGRESS…
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW BUILDING FOR PRE-PRIMARY CLASS
Construction a new building double storeyed is going in with full swing for Pre-primary classes.
MAINTENANCE, REPAIRING AND RENOVATION WORK BEING DONE AT JR. DPS
The maintenance, repair and renovation work in Junior DPS is in full swing after a long period of 15
years. B Block classrooms and corridors were completely repaired, renovated and painted with distemper
inside plastic Emulsion paints and weather coat paints outside after doing wall putting and primer. All the
windows‟ glass pans were also replaced.

MAINTENANCE, REPAIRING AND RENOVATION WORK BEING DONE AT SR. DPS
Similarly, maintenance, repairing and renovation work of washrooms, all classrooms, corridors, Art room
and labrotories of Senior Block of DPS is under progress. As a sample 3 washrooms have been
completely renovated up to the level of world standard. The remaining 16 washrooms are also under
process of renovation.
INSTALLATION OF INDUSTRIAL TYPE HEAVY DUTY AQUAGUARDS CUM WATER
COOLERS IN JUNIOR AND SENIOR DPS
It‟s a commendable achievement for DPS Nalconagar with the able leadership of our honourable
Principal Dr.B.K.Mishra, additional 5 nos. of Heavy Duty Industrial Type Aquaguards cum Water
Coolers for Senior and 6 nos. at Junior DPS were installed. The provision of such efficient Water Storage
System would surely pave a long way for all round progress of DPS NalcoNagar.

December, jointly organized by SOF and DPS Society.

NOVEMBER : PRE-BOARD EXAMINATION FOR CLASS X &XII
Pre Board exam of full paper three hour test of class X and XII students was conducted from 18th
November to 29th
November after 100% completion of syllabus. So far Four rounds of full paper 3 hours
tests of class XII students and three rounds of tests of class X students have been conducted in order to
train them for the board examination and to bring perfection through practice in writing.

NOVEMBER : MAROON COLOUR DAY
Maroon colour day was observed by the students of class Prep on 3rd
November. Children came to school
in different shades of maroon attires. The day marked various activities including scrapworks in maroon
colour.The students enjoyed a lot doing the activities.
10TH
NOVEBMER: HEALTHY FOOD DAY ( PREP )
To encourage children to eat healthy, home cooked and nutritious food,the students of class Prep
observed HEALTHY FOOD DAY on 10th
November.The students brought home made nutritious food
and fruits salad in their tiffins.
14TH
NOVEMBER : CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION
A day marking childhood – Children‟s Day celebration focus on children and their enjoyment. The day is
celebrated to pay tribute to the legendary leader and former Prime minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Children‟s Day was celebrated in our school with great enthusiasm with a theme „with love from
teachers to students’. The function was presided over by the Principal of our school
Dr.B.K.Mishra.Celebration began with Sloka chanting and prayer conducted by the teachers. It was
followed by a fashion parade by the teachers. A colourful dance was put up by a group of teacher dressed
up in traditional attire to entertain the children.Vote of thanks was proposed by Headmistress(I/C) Mrs
Neena Sharma. The school campus was buzzing with excitement and joy of children.
17TH
NOVEMBER : GREEN COLOUR DAY ( NURSERY)
The students & teachers arrived the school dressed up in various shades of Green colour and they had fun
making with the colour by wearing outfits of that colour, doing various activities with green coloured
objects, toys etc . The slogan of the day was “GO GREEN ” with the nation .

NOVEMBER : ANNUAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION BY CLASSES IV & V STUDENTS
With an Endeavour to promote scientific attitude among the budding young students , the Annual Science
Exhibition was held on 18th
Nov. ‟17 with the theme – Science & Technology For A Better Future .
The event saw young enthusiastic participants from classes IV & V putting up 100 participatory exhibits
comprising of innovative working models & investigation projects. The exhibits were indeed an eye-
opener on various topics related to Green energy , Inventions in Transport & Communication . Disaster
Management, Sewage Treatment plants, Waste water Treatment, Digital Technology & Mathematical
Modeling. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble ED ( S & P Complex) Nalconagar,
Mr.R.K.Mishra as the Chief Guest of the evening .The display was kept open for the parents & Children
from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm. The occasion was also graced in the presence of the Guest of Honour Mr.
P.K.Mohanty ,GM ( H & A ) , Nalconagar. The guests were highly impressed by the presentation of the
children. The principal of our School Dr.B.K.Mishra applauded the students for their novel ideas which
would help the world to become a much better place to live in. The best ten projects were selected for
appreciation .The event was a great success which also proved to be a learning experience for the
students.

21ST
NOVEMBER : FANCY DRESS SHOW ( PREP)
About 95 students of class prep participated in a colourful Fancy Dress Show on a given theme of
festivals, famous personalities in different fields. The children dressed up in colourful costumes rocked
the stage with their performances. At the end of the programme the parents‟ ramp walk was the center of
attraction and enjoyment for the students.

NOVEMBER : ENGLISH RECITATION WEEK( NURSERY)
The children of class nursery recited interesting rhymes with beautiful action and voice modulation
observing the English Recitation Week .

NOVEMBER : INVESTITURE CEREMONY FOR JUNIOR APPOINTEES OF
STUDENTS’ COUNCIL
The Investiture Ceremony signifies the reliance & confidence that the school consigns in the newly
invested office bearers. On 24th
Nov‟2017 , a solemn ceremony was conducted in the Assembly ground of
DPS (Jr.) , where in the newly elected school leaders took charge of their offices. The office bearer team
were -
The Head Boy, The Head Girl, The House Captains & The Vice House Captains .
The Sports Captains , The Discipline Captains , The ECO Captains, The Activity Captains from
four different houses , The ceremony was held with lots of zeal & zest . It was commenced with a
spiritual note of lamp lighting along with Shloka Chanting which signifies removal of darkness, followed
by the Welcome address by the Dr. B. K. Mishra, Principal of our school who presided over the function.
The event was presided over by our Pro-Vice Chairman, DPS, Nalconagar Mr. R.K. Mishra, ED ( S
& P Complex ) as the Chief Guest, who graced the occasion & awarded Sashes & badges for the
Captains. Shri A.Acharya, GM ( Finance), Nalco as the Guest of Honour of the morning too honoured
the leaders with badges. The other distinguished guest on the Dias were Mrs. Mamata Mishra - The
First Lady of Nalconagar, Mrs. Kavita Koel the wife of Mr. Yatindra Koel, IPS, DIG , Angul. All
the dignitaries were presented small saplings by the young eco-volunteers of our school with Go-Green
mission of the nation.
The programme started with the melody of school choir DPS hamara……. & a dance rendition by the
students of grade 3 & 4 added colour & vibrancy to the event .
It was indeed a proud moment for DPS family , Nalconagar, as the council members received the badges.
The student‟s council took the pledge to hold the school Motto of “Service Before Self ”in high esteem ,
keeping the mantle of DPS flying high.
The chief guest in his address gave a motivational speech commenting on the privilege & responsibilities
of Cabinet members. He congratulated the leaders & encouraged them to bestow their duties to the best of
their abilities. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Neena Sharma Headmistress (I/C) of our school .
The Celebration was a grand success.

NOVEMBER : FANCY DRESS SHOW ( CLASS I)
A show to exhibit the potentiality of every child who is considered to be prodigy. The theme decided for
the show was Eminent Personalities Or A Role with a Social Message. The children dressed up in
colourful costumes performed their best on the stage . The presentation of the children on current burning
topics like GST, Black Money, Whats App, Smart Phone, Child Labour, Eye Donation, Blood
Donation, Save Girl Child were appreciable by the audience. Finally ramp walk by the parents rocked
the stage and mesmerized all the audience.
30TH
NOVEMBER: PTM
The 3rd
PTM of the session was held from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. from classes (Nursery-V) in the
Junior school premises. The parents had interaction with the concerned teachers and discussed about the
progress of their wards. They had good interaction with the principal, Dr. B. K. Mishra. 90% of parents
had turned up and had expressed their utmost satisfaction and happiness over fast progress and drastic
changes in the system of the school.
