Our region holds its own on the international stage with Dumfries being the resting place of our national Bard, Robert Burns, and also the inspiration for JM Barrie’s Peter Pan. We boast 200 miles of coastline, exotic Gulf Stream gardens, Scotland’s National Book Town and both exhilarating and peaceful activities. Dumfries & Galloway is a world class destination and has an incredible breadth of tourism product to suit all tastes and age groups.
The visitor economy still faces uncertain times, however there is business to be had if the product is right and the service impeccable.
VisitScotland will continue to market the region, provide information and inspiration to visitors and deliver quality advice to tourism businesses as we prepare for welcoming the world in 2014, when the country plays host to the Commonwealth Games, Homecoming Scotland 2014 and the Ryder Cup.
