Guests included lead gift donors Mrs. Mary Lou Boone and son, Nick Boone, and nearly 150 agency volunteers, Boys Republic Board of Directors members, civic leaders and, of course, the honoree — director emeritus Max Scott. Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes are serving as

Honorary Chairpersons of the 2014 Della Robbia

tradition of Americans in the performing arts and

public services who have helped promote the

annual wreath sale by appearing in campaign

literature.

important work experience for troubled teenagers

at Boys Republic. From gathering seed pods,

cones, and other natural materials from fields and

forests to shipping wreaths to

customers around the

world, Boys

Republic

acquire

productive work habits and personal responsibility

through the campaign.

Rimes rose to national acclaim with the release of

her second album Blue when she was just thirteen.

oys Republic held its 107th Annual Awards

Ceremony on September 18. Nearly 300 of the

agency's teens and staff, local officials and proud

parents gathered to honor selected students.

presents awards that can be utilized in a variety of

ways to help deserving students meet immediate or

long-term personal goals. Scholarship funds may be

used to help further a student's education, but just as

often, they may become a deposit on an apartment

for a graduate with no family to return to, or they

can buy food, tools, training or appropriate clothing

to help a graduate qualify for a job.

BOYS REPUBLIC REPORT

Boys Republic MournsLoss of CherishedVolunteer

Louise Laub

We teach our students that hard work and

service to others are endeavors that help

define a person’s character. The generous

Mrs. Louise “Wesie” Laub was such an

individual, and Boys Republic was the

fortunate beneficiary of her passionate

voluntarism. She passed away peacefully on

July 15, 2014.

Wesie served as a volunteer in Boys

Republic’s Pasadena Auxiliary for 44 years, a

period during which she twice assumed the

role of Auxiliary president and member of

Boys Republic’s Board of Directors. She

dedicatedly gave of her time, spending untold

hours working in the Auxiliary’s thrift shop.

She provided frequent substantial financial

support, as well; donor records show 233

separate gifts.

Former Boys Republic executive director,
