Demeter’s Children• Demeter, also known as
Ceres has seven children all together.
• Zeus is the father of Kore.• Poseidon is the father of
Desponia and Arion.• Plutos and Philomelus are
the sons of Iasion.• Carmanor is the father of
Eubolus.• The picture to the right is
Persephone.

• Triptolemus is the father of Amphitheus.• Carmanor is the father of Eubolus.• Demeter’s one and only daughter Kore was
taken by Hades.• Kore changed her name to Persephone after
she was taken.• Only two out of the seven children shared a
father.
Family
Daughter of the Titans Kronus and Rhea.Demeter was a sister to Hestia, Hera, Poseidon. Hades and Zeus.

What People Picture her Like
• When people think of Demeter they think of a matured motherly figure.
• The reason why Demeter is pictured that way is because she taught mankind about agriculture, she also has to make winter happen.
• People call Demeter the Goddess of Harvest because she watches over the grains and bread of the Earth.
Demeter’s Clothing
• Demeter wears a cone shaped headdress.
• She also carries a sheaf of grain(a sheaf of grain is how you stack it so that all of the water inside of it falls out and stays fresh until you need it) and a torch.
Demeter’s Childhood
• Demeter did not have a long life. Her father swallowed her when she was young.
• When Zeus poisoned Kronus, which is Demeter’s father she came out as a fully grown woman.
Demeter’s Power
• Greeks worshiped her in order to make sure they would have a reap season( a reap season is when they make sure they will be able to collect what they need).
The Bad News
• When Demeter noticed that her daughter Kore was missing, she went to Earth in search of her. Demeter went searching for nine days and nights.
• While Demeter was searching for Kore which became Persephone, Hades took Persephone as his wife.
Persephone
• Kore also know as Persephone was the Goddess of vegetation.
• It is said that when she was abducted all of the vegetation died.
• Persephone-Greece.• Proserpina-Italy.• While she was in the Underworld with Hades
she became Queen of the Underworld.
