DENIMand DIAMONDS Gala
February 21, 2020 ~ 7pm to 11pm Dripping Springs Ranch Park
Annual Fundraiser to support
Dear Friends of the Dripping Springs Community,
Thank you for joining us for the 2020 Denim & Diamonds Gala,
where the local community’s support for education is proudly on
display to the 700 guests in attendance. Tonight our mission is
alive and well as we ENGAGE OUR COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE MORE STUDENTS
WITH BETTER OPPORTUNITIES. Your event attendance is the first step
in mobilizing our mission to make an impact throughout DSISD.
Tonight we plan to engage the community like never before because
we need the community now, more than ever! National statistics show
that one out of four children will have a mental illness during
childhood. In response to the needs of our educators and students,
our board took a bold step into the future by unanimously voting to
financially support DSISD’s Mental Health Services Initiative.
DSEF’s partnership in this Initiative is a three-year commitment to
provide critical staffing needs in DSISD including:
• A full-time mental health professional to the staff at Dripping
Springs High School
• A half-time counselor at each elementary school in addition to
the one full-time counselor
DSEF will provide funding for the next three years to support these
critical positions making its total commitment to DSISD and mental
health $645,000.
Funding like this would not be possible without YOU! Tonight we ask
that you consider the needs of our students and educators. Half of
mental health conditions begin by the age of 14 but often go
undetected and untreated until they reach a crisis point. Together,
we can ensure that effective mental health intervention and support
are readily available throughout the school system. By providing
mental health professionals at every DSISD campus, parent training,
community education, and more we can address the mental health
crisis that is looming across our nation by being the
thought-leader in providing affordability and accessibility to
mental health support services for every DSISD student.
Your participation tonight is an investment that matters to our
administration, educators, students, and families. It matters to
our community! Thank you for your belief in our mission as an
engaged community member working to provide more students with
better opportunities in and outside of the classroom!
Sincerely,
DENIMand DIAMONDS Gala
