For this recently completed project the Denso Steelcoat™ systemwas applied to a steel wire rope which is fitted to the four tower topsfrom which the footbridge is suspended. The wire rope where thegroove fits in is approximately 1 metre in length and 44mm diameter.
Particular attention was given to the application of Denso Steelcoaton the four tower tops and the anchorage bars, which had previouslysuffered from some corrosion. Following surface preparation, the DensoSteelcoat system applied by Hampshire Rigging Services consisted ofDenso Hi-Tack Primer™ followed by Densyl Profiling Mastic™ for fillingawkward profiles. This was then followed by Denso Hi-Tack Tape™,Denso Ultraseal Tape™ and Denso Acrylic Topcoat™.

CoCo Construction Groupwere the contractors on this
project and did much of theassembly and construction ofthese sections top-side beforeslinging the large, wrappedassemblies down into theground. Once the remainingconnections were joinedtogether below grade, theywere finished being wrappedwith Denso and then backfilled.
The process of assemblingthe sections and then protectingthem before going in theground was much easier fromthe contractor’s perspective asit helped minimise much of thein-trench work and permitteda better overall application ofthe Denso system.
Some of the Denso Petrolatum Tape System™ installation was applied prior to placing in-situ.

The pipeline loopings of a section of the existing Victorian Transmission System and Northern InterconnectSystem will provide natural gas security of supply on the East Coast of Australia.
The final stage, being loops 6 to 9 of the VNIE pipeline project, was awarded to Spiecapag Lucas JV (SCL)in late 2015, where construction was carried out nearby the country townships of Seymour, Wangaratta and
Chiltern in Victoria and Cootamundra and Young in NSW. Loops 6 to 9 saw more than 162km of pipe deliveredbetween Seymour and Young at strategically placed holding yards some 500km apart.
Denso Protal™ 7200 - Australia’s PipelineCoating of Choice
APA Group’s Victorian Northern Interconnect Expansion (VNIE) Pipeline Project comprised ofthree stages, which have been constructed over the last 3.5 years. The VNIE pipeline loopingsfall within both states of Victoria and New South Wales (NSW) and is made up of 16” and 18”
2LFBE coated mainline steel pipe. Stages one and two of the pipeline loopings were constructedby McConnell Dowell and Nacap Australia, which consisted of loops 1 to 5 and were
completed between 2014 and mid-2015.
Denso Australia was again engaged for the supply of Denso Protal™ 7200 high build epoxy for field jointcoating materials and mainline repairs by SCL given the strong working relationship, which has been formed
over recent years namely supplying APA’s Eastern Goldfields Pipeline Project and Jemena’s QueenslandGas Pipeline Looping project using Protal 7200 for FJC.

The selection of Denso as thesupplier of choice is a testamentto the confidence that bothSpiecapag, Lucas and DensoAustralia have developed overthe course of the previousprojects and the suitability ofProtal 7200 as a user friendly,high performance, high buildepoxy coating system.
The project itself was carriedout over a 15 month periodthrough some extremelychallenging constructionconditions due to unseasonalrecord setting rain events acrossNorthern Victoria and SouthernNew South Wales. Nevertheless, constructioncontinued and saw the coatingof more than 8,000 mainlinefield joints, applying Australianmanufactured Protal 7200. Theepoxy was supplied in 800 litrekits to be utilised with SCL JV’sthree purpose-built coating rigs.These comprised of pluralpumps and generators for sprayapplication of the Protal 7200.
Manual kits of 1.5 litres weresupplied for tie-ins and 400mlrepair cartridges for any repairs.
The project in total saw morethan 25,000 litres of Protal 7200consumed during theconstruction period. This project,along with APA Group’s EasternGoldfields Pipeline, Jemena’s

Construction of the powerstation began in February 2015and is expected to be fullycommissioned and commenceoperations in 2017 with acost estimation of AU$570m.
Combined cycle powerplants are highly efficient andfeature both natural gas andsteam turbines, with the steamturbine using waste heat fromthe gas turbine to generateadditional power.
South Hedland power station is a 150MW combined-cyclenatural gas-fired power generation facility being constructed inthe Boodarie Resource Industrial Estate, approximately 13kmsouth of Port Hedland, Western Australia. The project aims tomeet the growing demand for electricity in the Pilbara region.
The underground pipeline forthe steam turbines is operatingat elevated temperatures thatstandard anti-corrosion tapewrap systems are unable totolerate long term.
Denso Australia wassuccessful in supplying thespecified Denso Steelcoat™ 200system, which is designed towithstand 110°C above groundand 90°C below ground.

Prior to the Steelcoat 200application the piping spoolswere first hot dipped galvanisedby Hartway Galvanisers andplaced on pipe-stands ready for protective wrapping.The Denso Hotline Tape wasapplied spirally with a 55%overlap, effectively providing a3000 micron corrosion barrierfollowed by the water activatedDenso Glass Outer Wrap Tapealso incorporating a 55%overlap. On completion of theapplication the spools wereloaded onto trucks for the1745km journey to site. TheDenso Glass Outer Wrap serveda dual purpose of protectingthe spools during transport andtolerating the high operatingservice temperatures of thepipe once commissioned.

The City of Juneau has undergonerecent improvements to theirdowntown waterfront.This included improvementsto it’s Cruise Ship Terminaland associated dock areawhere many restaurantsand shops cater to the many tourists that visit the area. BPGIC is an important tank storage operator who’s licenced activities in Fujairah,UAE cover the storing of (crude oil, fuel oil, all kinds of oil products and gas), as
well as building, managing and investing in refineries including theextraction and exploration of crude oil.
After discussions with the consultants MUC, BPGIC approved theuse of the Denso Steelcoat™ Tank Base Protection System for alltheir tanks on their new Fujairah storage facilities terminal. Thisapproval was based on the successfull record of the Denso systembeing used by other tank farm operators in Fujairah. The Densoprotective system was applied by contractors Audex. The projectwas completed in March 2017.
