Camp Counselor application deadline is March 4th
Camp Counselors are a very important part of 4-H Camp. They work with youth ages 8 to 13 and assist the camp staff. In addition, the counselor experi-ence provides an opportunity to make new friendships and lifetime memories, while learning valuable leadership skills. Those interested in being selected as
camp counselors this summer will need to attend three training sessions: in Rolla on March 12, April 1 and 22; and then Counselor Camp May 31-June 1
at Camp Clover Point - Lake of the Ozark State Park. Counselors must be 14 years old by December 31, 2018.
The Dent County 4-H Council will pay the counselor camp training fee ($60.00) for any youth applying to be a camp counselor. If accepted as a counselor, youth must pay $80.00 of the regular camp fee ($130.00 which includes a camp t-shirt) when registering for camp. The 4-H Council will pay the remain-ing $50.00.
Livestock Quality Assurance Meeting

The rules for attendance: (using 4-H age as of 12/31/18)
If you are 8-13 years old, you must attend two consecutive years
(if you’ve done that, you don’t attend again until you’re 14)
If you are 14 years old, you must attend this year and you are done
If you are 14-18 and new this year, you must attend
Clover Kids are not required to attend.
Ham and bacon exhibitors must attend. (using the above rules)

Dent County Jackpot Show and Livestock Pre-Show Saturday, June 1 Commons The Livestock Pre-show is a part of the Dent County Jackpot Show.
The mandatory requirement is that all 1st timers showing an animal
species at the Expo must attend the Jackpot Show with the following
rules:
Market hog, lamb and goat 1st timers have the option of attend-
ing as either an exhibitor or a spectator
Market steer 1st timers have an option of attending a separate
a.m. showmanship clinic (held at the Commons during the Jackpot
Show), or participating as an exhibitor in the Jackpot Show
The Jr. Livestock Committee will pay the $20.00 Jackpot Show regis-
tration fee for one animal for all Dent County 1st time exhibitors. All
entries must be pre-registered.
The Dent County Jackpot Show is open to all 4-H/FFA members.

18th Annual 4-H Day w/ St. Louis Cardinals 4-H members, alumni, families and their friends are invited to join us for 4-H Day with the St. Louis Cardinals, Saturday, May 11. The Cardinals will be playing the Pittsburg Pirates in a 1:15 pm game in Busch Stadium. 4-H mem-
bers, leaders, alumni, and families who purchase 4-H Day with the Cardinals tickets will have the opportunity to pa-rade around the Busch Stadium outfield. Pre-game ceremo-nies will include a recitation of the 4-H pledge and ceremo-nial first pitches by an IL and MO 4-H member. Also, every-one who orders a ticket on this form will receive a specially designed t-shirt featuring the 4-H and Cardinals logos to commemorate the day. Note: Groups of families or county groups that wish to sit together must send their orders in one package. Tickets usually sell out, so order early. Tickets and t-shirts will be mailed on April 29th. Tickets for the event must be ordered on the 4-H Day with the Cardinals order form. Ticket order forms are available at the Extension office, or at www.mo4h.missouri.edu. Ticket orders must be postmarked by April 1, 2019. 4-H Clubs, counties, or groups of families who would like to be seated together must send their orders in the same envelope.
Green Forest 4-H club meeting was held February 11, 7:00 pm at the Green Forest School. Meeting was called to order by Justin Rusk. American pledge was led by CeCe Reed . 4-H pledge was led by Jet Cartwright. Roll call and read-ing of the minutes was done by Rachel Counts. Treasurer report was read by Colton Lerma. In old business we talked about Butter Braids fundraiser. New business: Steer weigh-in is February 23 at 7:00 am, Hog weigh-in is March 23 at 6:30 am, Lamb/Goat weigh-in is May 4, 7:00 am. Quality Assurance meeting will be March 18, check with extension office or Sharon Shafer if you are on the list to attend. First-time steers exhibitors will be required to bring their steer to the Jackpot Show. Bill Shafer went over things from the livestock meeting. Camp counselors are wanted. Must be 14 years by December 31, 2018. Kick-off Horsemanship meeting is February 12 6:30 at the Dent County Fire Station. A pro-gram on drugs was done by Justin Roderman, SCO. Summer 2019 Internship on the Big Island of Hawaii! Big Island Farms would like to invite you to join our upcom-ing Hawaii internship programs, here on our organic permaculture farm. Big Island Farms is located on the Hamakua coast of Ha-waii’s Big Island and is interconnected with 10 of the world’s 13 available microclimates ranging from vibrant jungle to arid desert tundra. This ancient island lends Big Island Farms a culturally and biologically rich and diverse environment. During our program students gets to experience and study most of the micro climates available on the island. At the Big Island Farms, a vibrant 64 acre collection of fruit trees, nut orchards, permaculture food forests, botanical gardens & medicinal gardens, our team unites around a shared vision of sustainability, community, and the desire to understand how to live off the land through a process of discovering the deeper rooted connections that we all share within the organic permaculture. We are searching for like-minded individuals who we can share our knowledge with and who can also leave their mark at Big Island Farms. You Will Need:
2 (peeled) kiwis
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
Splash of milk Dab of honey Green food coloring (optional)

Adults and youth work together to put all of the ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth. Serve in a chilled glass.
