Dental MirrorFunctions:-to provide indirect vision-to retract lips, cheeks, and tongue-to reflect light into the mouth
Mouth mirrors must be cleaned, bagged individually or bagged/wrapped in a tray setup, and then sterilized. A chemical/steam indicator device should be included in the wrapping.

Periodontal Probe

Suction tip (aka aspirator tips)
-designed for rapid removal of bulk matter (i.e.: vomitus, mucus, de-bris) from natural or surgical cavi-ties-good for removal of blood from ex-traction sites to keep visibility clear
Bone Rongeur
-muti-jointed, springloaded, plier-like instrument used to break off pieces of bone-opposing surfaces of blades have sharp-edged, scooped out surfaces like a curette
Needle Holder (gold)
-surgical forceps used to hold and pass suturing needle through tis-sue
-aka “suture forceps”
Scissor
-designed to cut tissue/prosthetic ma-terial during dental procedures-two metallic blades with sharp edges that slide past each other (shearing action)
Tissue Forcep
-forceps with serrated blades-with or without teeth-designed for handling tissues with minimal trauma during surgery
Blade Holder (straight, round)
-device designed to hold surgical knives during operative procedures
-most holders disposable devices, discarded with the knives after the procedure finished
Mosquito (curved)
-small, straight or curved hemostatic for-ceps used to hold delicate tissue or com-press a bleeding tissue
-also used to retract in small fields & hold delicate tissue
Kelly (curved)
-conventional, small hemostats with ratcheted handles & straight or curved blades with fine grooves running crossways inside the tip
Prichard
-larger, heavier curette for removal of granulation tissue & tenacious sub-gingival deposits
Seldin
-has flat handle with small blade at each end-blades angled & shaped to give easy ac-cess to all locations in mouth-all edges slightly rounded to avoid need-less injuries to tissues-larger than periosteal elevator
Mallet
-heavy-headed surgical instrument used for driving a bone chisel
Bone Curette
-surgical instrument shaped like a scoop or a spoon-used to remove tissue or growths from a body cavity
Periosteal Elevator (molt No. 9)

-thin blade used to lift periosteum from bone-also useful for placing gauze inside mouth when surgeon isolating particular area for surgery
Minnesota Retractor
-wide, bent, tongue blade-like instru-ment-used to hold cheeks & lips out of the way of operation field
Pincette
-small pair of pincers, tweez-ers, or forceps used in surgery
Blade Holder (straight)
Ochsenbein Chisel
-small, delicate bone removal chisel-ideal for atraumatic removal of bone adjacent to teeth during crown length-ening-used to remove interproximal bone-fine end also useful in elevating frac-tured root tips

-used to hold used instruments after use during surgery
