ED CREATES – supported by Bradford EBP and National Enterprise Network, Ed Creates offers new ways of teaching and learning through creative media and enterprise. The business challenges are flexible to the needs of your students and ways of teaching but all rely on children having artistic and directional control over the process and the products they produce. Young People will create their own enterprise in a creative way and Ed Creates will provide them with a route to market for the products they create. This pod based learning system aims to liberate and stimulate the creativity of pupils from Primary to KS3 Secondary with a series of prompts, props and creative challenges that get pupils’ entrepreneurial juices flowing. The system has 12 individually designed brightly coloured pods with an activity in each one. NEW TOWN GAME – this is a new resource adapted for primary schools to engage pupils with enterprise and Economic Well-being. The activity is aimed at Year 5 and 6 pupils and can be delivered as a short activity (approximately 2 hour) or extended to half a day FREE OF CHARGE. It focuses on pupils building their ideal community; working in teams they design the town, consider value for money, job creation and innovation. If you are interested please contact Catherine Halliwell to discuss your requirements. LANGUAGE FOR LEARNING – an exciting new opportunity for primary schools to build upon Years 5 and 6 speaking and listening and writing skills through the creative media. All schools are invited to take part in either writing a book or making a short film that could be used as an educational resource for other young people. A number of extended curriculum opportunities will soon be available for schools to take part in during the next academic year, or if you have an innovative educational project you would like to share with others through a book or short film please contact Sonya Midgley to discuss further. BRADFORD REGENERATION - The City Park is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to engage with the future of their city and learn about a real-life project whatever their age. There is a host of information and ideas about how to use the City Park in your lessons, and how this applies to the curriculum, available on the education pages of the City Park website www.bradford.gov.uk/citypark). Also available are a series of presentations that you can download and use directly in your lessons. These presentations introduce the city centre, the City Park and give details of designing, engineering and constructing the City Park. IMAGINE A CITY – every school in the district is being offered the chance to showcase their design work in the city centre. The aim of this training is to offer support and resources to help teachers plan and teach personal finance in fun and exciting ways that fit into existing activities and curriculum plans. MY MONEY WEEK 28 JUNE- 4 JULY – lots of schools are planning activity for this week. Use this opportunity to engage your pupils in financial capability, develop Economic Well-being, improve numeracy and bring the relevance of the world of work into the classroom. A FREE activity pack is available from pfeg (Personal Finance Education Group) by logging onto www.pfeg.org or telephone 020 7330 9470. The pack contains flexible and fun teaching resources including ideas to get you started, lesson plans supported by online interactive videos, assembly ideas, posters, stickers, scenario cards and much more! INVESTORS IN PUPILS OPEN MORNING - St Lukes Primary School have very kindly agreed to put on an Open Morning for any schools who are interested in finding out more about the standard on Friday 18th June. A booking form can be found on the website www.investorsinpupils.co.uk within the “News & Events” section. NB: This event is FREE for Bradford schools. GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK 15-21 NOVEMBER 2010 – watch out for a range of exciting events for schools during this week. Further information out before the end of term!
