Introduction
Department of Civil Engineering had organized VIRTUAL
PROJECT FAIR 2021 on 7th April, 2021 as per GTU guidelines.
In this project fair total 18 project groups of civil
engineering were participated. This project fair was organized for
providing the platform to young budding engineers to showcase
their talent, technical skills and creates healthy competition
among them to perform better, which eventually works towards
enhancing their technical skills.

PURPOSE OF VIRTUAL PROJECT FAIR
As we know currently, whole world facing a virus and our
lives change from physical sessions to the online sessions and
there are so many changes in our lives but we even don’t stop
there. From the beginning our mission is to educate students and
take them forward. Om engineering college, department of civil
engineering had organized the Project fair for final year students.
Main objective of the fair was to provide final year students to
show case their team project work during the year either through
the working project or poster presentation, and students showcase
their talent, technical skills. Second objective was to create
healthy competition among them to perform better, which
eventually works towards enhancing their technical skills.
Due to this project fair, students of first and second year got
practical idea about their own discipline and motivated towards
delivering the best during their pre-final and final year’s studies.

Feedback from Expert and HOD
Mr. Nilesh Vinzuda
“I am so impressed after watching all posters and I want to say
that you guys are the best. Through this poster presentation in
virtual mode will help students to develop their skill and
knowledge in online mode also. This fair was so excited and
wonderful for me and also it is so helpful for students and for their
career also.”
Prof. H. M. Bhimjiani (Head of Civil Department)
“Remarkable work done by Students. All Students have actively
explained all new concept and knowledge of their projects. This
Project fair is very useful for students as well as society. Also
these projects are useful in student’s future and carrier. We also
learn the new things from projects.”

“Translucent light weight concrete is a new material with a wide
variety of applications in the construction sector, architecture,
decoration and furniture. Assume that solid construction with the
feature of being translucent will be allow better interaction
between the building and its environment, at the same time, and
significantly reduce maintenance costs, creating better and more
naturally illuminated condition. Here light enters and exits
through optical fiber. Since the fibers of optical are thin, it blends
into the concrete and is tested by making concrete provides light
during the day and is also very useful for green buildings.
Compared with a traditional electric lighting
14
system, illuminating the indoors with daylight also creates a more
appealing and healthy environment for building occupants.

2. Title of Project: USE POLYPROPYLENE FIBER IN SOIL

For any land-based structure, the foundation is very important
and has to be strong to support the entire structure. In order for
the foundation to be strong, the soil around it plays a very critical
role. So, to work with soils, we need to have proper knowledge
about their properties and factors, which affect their behavior.
The process of soil stabilization helps to achieve the required
properties in a soil needed for the construction work. From the
beginning of construction work, the necessity of enhancing soil
properties has come to the light. Ancient civilizations of the
Chinese, Romans and Incas utilized various methods to improve
soil strength etc., some of these methods were so effective that
their buildings and roads still exist. In India, the modern era of
soil stabilization began in early 1970’s, with a general Shortage
of petroleum and aggregates, it became necessary for the
16
engineers to look at means to improve soil other than replacing
the poor soil at the building site.

3. Title of Project: Self-cleaning of road

In this project, self-cleaning technology of the road. we clear
road using rainwater and also rainwater harvesting. Then the
rainwater was storing in specific chamber or tank. Then using this
water to clean the road again dirty water is clean and reuse by
sedimentation tank.

CONCLUSION
After the completion of this virtual Project fair, final year students
learnt about team project work during the year, and students show their
talent, technical skills. In fair created healthy competition among the
students to perform better.
At the end top three innovative projects were evaluated by expert
committee in which experts were Our Director Dr. H.V.Paghdar,
Principle Dr. K.H.Raviya Sir, Head of Civil Department Prof.
H.M.Bhimjiani, and All the faculties from Civil department, and some
delegates from other colleges and industry our delegates from industry.
