Conference on Future Trends in Engineering and Business, on 26th-27th May

in August 2017

• On 28th May 2017, Ms Madhavi Vaidya presented a paper titled “Approaches for

Implementation of Data Analysis using Map Reduce on Mobile Platform: An

Experimental Study” in Gandhi Institute For Technology (GIFT), ICCI-SEM-

2K17. Published in International Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics 2018

• On 25th Nov 2017, Ms. Shravanti Sunchu Prsented a paper titled “Innovations in

Knowledge Sharing Using Firebase Cloud Messaging” in National Conference on

Innovations in Knowledge sharing using Technology held at Seth Hirahcand

Mutha College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Kalyan

• On 28th & 29th January 2018 in an online presentation mode, Ms Madhavi Vaidya

presented a paper titled "Experimental Study for Comparison of Performance on

Various Datasets using MapReduce on Distributed File Systems" in International

Conference on Electrical, Electronics, Computers, Communication, Mechanical

and Computing (EECCMC). This paper would be the part of IEEE Xplore Digital

Library in due time.

❖ By Students

• On 25th Nov 2017, Mr. Prathamesh Hire, T.Y.B.Sc.(Comp.Sci.) student presented

a paper on “Testing Performance of Large data using SQL” in National

Conference under the guidance of Ms Madhavi Vaidya on Innovations in

Knowledge sharing using Technology held at Seth Hirachand Mutha College of

Arts, Science, and Commerce, Kalyan

• On 13th December 2017, 2 students of T.Y.B.Sc (Comp.Sci.) Ms. Harshala Dalvi

& Ms. Shravani Chemburkar participated in Avishkar Research convention under

the guidance of Ms Madhavi Vaidya organized at Acharya Marathe College in

association with Mumbai University. Their topic was “Forensic Analysis in

WhatsApp”

Placements

• On 29th July 2017, Ms. Shweta Dhobi from T.Y.B.Sc. Computer Science (2016-

17) got selected in the in Wipro in off-campus placement.

• On 3rd October 2017, 1 student from TYBSc Computer Science 2017 batch got

selected and joined in Orient Technologies as a Network Support Engineer

• On 13th October 2017, TCS conducted Off-campus placement drive, 3 students

from TYBSc Computer Science 2017 batch attended and selected in that.

• On 11th & 12th December 2017, Capegemini conducted Pool campus drive for TY

students at Pillai College, Panvel. 22 students attended the interview. 6 students

got selected.

• On 11th& 12th December 2017, Infosys conducted Pool campus drive for TY

students at Pillai College, Panvel. 3 students got selected out of 15 who had taken

part.

• On 16th February 2018, Wipro conducted On Campus placement drive for TY

BSC students of Computer Science, Physics, Maths and IT. 81 students attended

the drive from Computer Science, IT, Physics and Maths. Out of 9 students of

Computer Science, 1 student got selected from Computer Science dept.

• On 23rd March 2018, Placement Cell has organized Career Fest 2018 in which 17

companies visited the college for placement. 9 students from T.Y.B.Sc Computer

Science were shortlisted in Sutherland, Cine factory and Digitex. The final results

are awaited.

• On 24th March 2018, TCS conducted Aptitude test for TY students. 8 students

attended the Aptitude Test and 5 were shortlisted for the final round and all are

selected in the final round.

• On 18th May 2017, Nokia HERE company conducted Aptitude test and GD for

TYBsc(CS) and TYBsc(IT) students. 5 students selected for the final round.

• On 20th May 2017, Capegemini company conducted Interview for TYBsc(CS) and

TYBsc(IT) students. 4 students are selected.

• On 23rd May 2017, Nokia HERE Conducted Final Round of Interview for

TYBsc(C.S) and TYBsc(I.T) students. 3 students selected in final round.

• On 25th May 2017, Delloit company conducted Interview for TYBsc(CS) and

TYBsc(IT) students. 6 students attended the same.

Internship

• Mr. Rupesh Sarode of SYBSc Computer Science did an Internship at Prism

Publications from 20th March 2017 to 10th June 2017

• 2 students of SYBSc Computer Science(Ignatius Gonsalves and Prathamesh Hire)

completed an internship at Senergy Intellutions from 10th April 2017 to 1st July 2017.

• Mr. Siddharth Chaki of SYBSc Computer Science completed an Internship at IIT

Bombay from April 2017 to 10th July 2017.

• Ms Seema Jillella student of SYBSc Computer Science has completed an internship

at AERB from 22nd May 2017 to 15th July 2017 at AERB(Atomic Energy Regulatory

Board) of BARC.

• On 15th Feb 2018, conducted a GD and Interview rounds for SY and TY BSc

Computer Science for Paid Summer Internship program for Digital Marketing. 25

students attended the same and 3 students have been shortlisted for the Internship

program of summer vacation which would start from 1st May’18.

Activities conducted under DBT

• On 6th October 2017 Computer Science department through DBT Star College

scheme, conducted “Python – Web(MVC)Framework (Flask/Django)” workshop of

8hours through Foslipy Consultancy Services. 56 students of F.Y.BSc (Comp.

Sci.)Department attended the same.

• On 17th March 2018 Computer Science department through DBT Star College

scheme, organized a seminar of Himanshu Chauhan, Automation Test Lead,

SmartStream Technology Pvt. Ltd. for F.Y.B.Sc(C.S.) and S.Y.B.Sc(C.S.) Students.

53 students attended the same.

Computer Science Association activities

• On 26th March to 28th March 2018, through Computer Science Association(CSA)

Computer Science Department conducted a workshop on “MongoDB” which was

conducted by Mr. Ravindran. 36 students of S.Y.B.Sc(C.S.) attended the workshop

• On 11th Aug 2017, Computer Science department organized “Computer Science

Association (CSA) Inauguration”. All the students of Computer Science department

participated in the same. 9 Students of 2016-17 batch were felicitated in the same.

A seminar on Audio Mixing was conducted on the same day by our own students,

Mr Priyash Khushwah, Mr Ravi Khorwal and Mr Pramod Jantwal.

Collaboration Activities

• On 10th June 2017, Squad Infotech conducted seminar on “Aptitude GD/PI

Preparation” for Computer Science Students. 24 TYBSc Comp Sci students attended

the seminar.

⚫ On 10th July 2017, Ms. Sayali Yewale from Foslipy C.S Pvt Ltd. conducted seminar

on “Content Management System” for T.Y.BSc Computer Science Students. 20

students attended the same. She also conducted seminar on “Django-Python

Advanced Framework” for S.Y.BSc Computer Science Students. 43 students of

S.Y.BSc. Computer Science attended the seminar.

• On 11th July 2017, Mr. Manish Kumar Singh from ATS Learning Solutions

conducted seminar on “IOT Course” for T.Y.BSc and S.Y.BSc Computer Science

Students. 28 students of T.Y.BSc Comp Sci and 44 students of S.Y.BSc Comp Sci

attended the seminar.

• On 11th August 2017, Ms Kavita Desai, Mastek visited our college to explain Deep

Blue Competition of this year. They explained the various problems and rules. 32

FY students, 20 SY Students & 15 TY student attended the seminar.

• On 23rd Nov 2017, Mr. Manish Jha, Director of Squad Infotech conducted seminar

on “Aptitude GD/PI Preparation” for S.Y.B.Sc.(Computer Science) Students.

• On 2nd Feb 2018, College Placement cell organized a seminar of Employee Factory

on “Certification Courses”. 14 students of T.Y.B.Sc(Comp.Sci.)attended the session

• On 8th Feb 2018, Computer Science Department organized a seminar of Ms. Divya

Pillai on “Media Testing” for T.Y.B.Sc (Comp.Sci.) students.

Consulting Services on “Certification Courses”.

Best Practices

❖ Peer-to-peer learning

• On 8th July 2017, S.Y.BSc(C.S.) conducted a session on “Introduction to Linux”.

11 students attended the session.

• On 15th July 2017, S.Y.BSc(C.S.) conducted a session on “Basic concepts of

Linux”. 10 students attended the session.

• On 17th July 2017, S.Y.BSc(C.S) conducted a session on “Basic concepts of

Python”. 04 students attended the session.

• On 22nd July 2017, 2 students of S.Y.BSc (C.S) conducted a Intra-class session

on “Python OOP”. 07 students of S.Y.Bsc (C.S) attended the session

• On 22nd July 2017, 1 student of S.Y.BSc (C.S.) conducted a Intra-class session

on “Computer Organization and Design”. 3 students of SYBsc (C.S.) attended

the session.

• On 27th July 2017 Computer Science department organized “Project

Demonstration” competition. 12 Students of SYBsc (C.S.) participated in the

competition. 4 students were selected as winner of the competition. The students

of TYBSc & FYBSc Computer science attended the presentation.

Staff activities

• On 10th June 2017 VES College under Staff Development Program conducted a

session of Jayashree Giri on “Value Lab” All the Faculties of Computer Science

department attended the same.

• On 16th June 2017, University Department of Computer Science (UDCS) in

association with Ad-hoc Board of studies in Computer Science, University of

Mumbai organized “One day workshop on SYBsc(C.S) TYBsc(C.S) Syllabus”. Mr.

Kamlakar Bhopatkar, Ms. Priyanka Sul and Ms.Shravanti Sunchu of Computer

Science department attended the same

• On 20th June 2017, VESLARC conducted an “Induction Training” session Ms

Priyanka Sul attended the same.

• On 21st June 2017 Ms. Madhavi Vaidya conducted a GD in the class of SYBSc

Computer Science on the topic of “Are Farmer’s suicidal attempts or suicides

justifiable? 8 students participated in the GD.

• On 24th June 2017Mr. Kamlakar Bhopatkar and Mrs.Madhavi Vaidya conducted

Parent’s-Teacher’s Meeting for SYBSc and TYBSc Computer Science students. 38

parents of SY and 21 parents of TY attended the meeting.

• On 29th July 2017, the Dept. of Comp. Sci. organized an orientation session for the

Parents of F.Y.Bsc(C.S) Students. One of our Alumni Ms. Mrunali Parab also shared

her experience as a student in VES. 27 Parents attended this session.

• On 25th Sept 2017, Ms. Madhavi Vaidya conducted Guest Lecture on “DATA

ANALYSIS ON DFS USING MAP REDUCED ON MOBILE PLATFORM” for

MCA and Msc students in Comp. Sci. in HVPM College of Santa Gadage Baba

Amaravati University.

• On 14th October 2017, Ms. Madhavi Vaidya and Mr. KamlakarBhopatkar were

felicitated by VESLARC as “Idea Contributor” for innovative teaching.

• On 2nd December 2017, Mr. Kamlakar Bhopatkar of Computer Science Department

conducted a training session for the Website Committee Members for 1.5 hour. 8

teachers attended the session.

• On 13th December 2017, Madhavi Vaidya conducted a session for F.Y.BSc(Comp.

Sci.) on “How to Review a Book”. 50 students from F.Y.BSc (Comp.Sci.) attended

the same.

• On 30th and 31st January Mr. Kamlakar Bhopatkar attended a National Seminar on

IOT- Technology of future organized by D.Y.Patil Institute of MCA, Akurdi, Pune

• On 3rd Feb 2018, the Dept. of Comp. Sci. conducted Parents-Teacher interaction

session for the Parents of F.Y.Bsc(C.S) Students. 55 Parents attended this session

• On 10 th Feb 2018, Ms. Priyanka Sul and Ms. Shravanti Sunchu attended a FDP

program on “Innovative Teaching Methodology” and Panel Discussion on

“Application of Emotional Intelligence in Education “conducted by MasterMyLife

EQ Education

• Ms. Madhavi Vaidya conducted a GD in the class of F.Y.B.Sc.(Comp. Sci.) on 10

th Feb 2018 on the topic of “Should Primary Education made free in our country?”.

• On 21 st Feb 2018, Ms. Priyanka Sul and Ms. Shravanti Sunchu conducted SDP for

3 staff members of Comp. Sci. dept. on “Innovative Teaching Methodology”

Innovative activities

• On 17th July, Faculties of Computer Science conducted “Mock Placement” for

T.Y.BSc (C.S) students to prepare them for the upcoming placement activities. 22

Students attended the same. Rounds conducted in “Mock Placement” were:

Round One : Aptitude Test (Each student contributed one question)

ACP

• On 10th June 2017 Computer Science Department Invited Ms. Ankita Kittur for

taking session on “Why to take part in ACP”. 41 Students of SYBsc(C.S) attended

this session.

• On 25th Nov 2017, Computer Science students who were part of ACP, presented their

final posters to the judges and to the students. Mr. Sidhharth Chaki from

T.Y.B.Sc(Comp.Sci.) got First prize in the final presentation.

• On 28th Nov 2017, Computer Science students who were part of ACP, presented

their final posters to the judges and to the students.3 T.Y.B.Sc.(Comp.Sci.) Students

Ms. Shravani Chemburkar got First Prize, Ms. Harshala Dalvi got Second Prize and

Third Prize has been secured by Ms. Janane Pillai in final presentation.

• On 6th December 2017, ACP Research Project Presentation Competition Winners

Shravani, Harshala and Janane Presented their topics in front of F.Y.BSc Computer

Science who attended to get an idea about ACP.

Participation in inter-collegiate events

• On 20th December 2017, Sheth L.U.J. and Sir M.V. College, Andheri organizes

“Code Execution Championship Competition”, Mr. Ignatius Gonsalves got First

Prize in “Python Programming”.

• On 7th January 2018, Mahatma Night Degree College, Chembur organized an

event “Talentmania”. In Fashion show competition our F.Y. ,S.Y. & T.Y.

B.Sc(Comp.Sci.) students got “First Prize”

• On 17th Feb 2018,Mastek conducted “Project Deep Blue” Grand Finale, an app

development competition in K.J.Somaiya college.300 teams from all

Science/Engineering colleges of Mumbai participated in the competition. 1 team

of T.Y.B.Sc (Comp. Sci.) got shortlisted in top 10 teams.

Students activities

• VES College Forum Conducted an event “WebEx-Expression on the web”. 3

students of S.Y.Bsc (C.S) participated in that event and got prizes.

• On 6th Aug 2017, V. G. Vaze College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized

Elocution completion. Ms. Sonali Salunkhe and Ms. Reshma Vende from

TYBsc(Comp.Sci.) participated in the same.

• On 12th Aug 2017 VES College Forum Conducted an event “Story Writing

competition”. Ms. Sonali Salunkhe from TYBsc(Comp.Sci.) got first prize and Mr.

Shivam Rai from SYBsc(comp.Sci.) got consolation prize in the same.

• On 21st Aug 2017, University of Mumbai organized Badminton Tournament, Ms.

Aishwarya.PG from TYBsc(Comp.Sci.) participated in the same and got shortlisted

in top 16.

• On 16th October 2017, NSS committee organized a seminar on “Digital India”.

Students of Computer Science attended the same.

• On 14th October 2017, 1 team of T.Y.BSc(Comp.Sci.) students got shortlisted for

the Intercollegiate Deep Blue Competition. The final competition will be in the

month of February

• On 4th December 2017, in Annual Sports Ms. Ashwini Ghodke from S.Y.BSc

(Comp.Sci.) got Second Prize in Carom Women’s Single

• On 5th December 2017, in Annual Sports Ms. Jagruti Thakur from S.Y.BSc

(Comp.Sci.) got First Prize in Table Tennis singles and Table Tennis Mixed and

Third Prize in Badminton Doubles

• On 22nd December 2017, in Talentia F.Y.BSc (Comp. Sci.) student Ms. Sanju Nishad

got Consolation Prize in “Best out of Waste” competition.

• On 22nd December 2017, Ms. Shravani Chemburkar from T.Y.B.Sc (Comp.Sci.)

got “First Prize” in “Story Writing Competition”

• On 21st January 2018, in Annual Sports TYBSc Comp Sci Girls team won gold

medal in “Cricket”.

• On 21st January 2018, in Annual Sports FYBSc Comp Sci student “Mr. Yogesh

Baidwal” won Silver medal in “200 m Final” and won 3rd prize in “100 m Final”.

• On 22nd January 2018, in Annual Sports TYBSc Comp Sci Girls team won gold

medal in “Kabaddi”.

• “National Youth Day” is celebrated on 12th January 2017 on the birthday of Swami

Vivekananda. VES College has organized Quiz Competition. Mr. Shivam Rai from

S.Y.B.Sc (Comp.Sci.) got 2nd Prize.

• On 13th January 2018 Marathi Vangmay Mandal organizes a “Debate Competition”.

Ms. Sonali Salunkhe from T.Y.B.Sc (Comp.Sci.) and group got “First Prize”

• On 19th and 20th January 2018, around 150 students organized an intercollegiate

fest “VIHAAN”. Events include Posteria, App ki Peshkash, Quiriosity, Techtonic,

Iotics, Freeze the Moment, Megablog, Introview etc.students from various colleges

participated.

• On 25th January 2018 “Annual Book Review” competition was conducted. “Ms.

Shravani Chemburkar” from T.Y.B.Sc(Comp.Sci.) got “First Prize” and “Mr. Dipen

Sajanani” from S.Y.B.Sc(Comp.Sci.) got consolation prize in English

Category.“Ms. Sonali Salunkhe” from T.Y.B.Sc(Comp.Sci.) got “Second Prize” in

Marathi category

• On 12th Feb 2018, T.Y.B.Sc(Comp.Sci.) students who were the part of the “Deep

Blue Project Demonstration competition” Presented their projects in front of S.Y.

and T.Y.BSc(Comp.Sci.) students.52 students from S.Y. and 24 students from

T.Y.B.Sc(Comp. Sci.) were present for the presentation

• On 15th Feb 2018, S.Y.BSc.(Comp.Sci.) students Mr.Shivam Mishra, Mr. Mayur

Chhabria,Mr. Shrikant Narvekar, Mr. Sagar Acharya and Ms. Janhavi Sharma

conducted Photoshop workshop for FYBsc(Com.Sci.) students. 36 students attended

the same

• On 3rd March 2018, 2 T.Y.B.Sc(C.S.) students Mr. Rahul Maurya and Ms.

Harshala Dalvi Presented their final year projects in front of S.Y.BSc(C.S.)

students so that they will get idea about final year projects. 50 students were

present for the presentation.

• On 14th March 2018, F.Y.B.Sc(C.S) student Mr. Roshan Kadam conducted a

session on “Introduction to Kali Linux” which is useful in Ethical Hacking. 27

students of F.Y.B.Sc(C.S) attended the session.

• On 23rd March 2018, S.Y.B.Sc(C.S) student Mr. Dipen Sajnani conducted a

session on “Bitcoin for Beginners” for T.Y.B.Sc(Maths.) students.

Alumini activities

• On 13th June 2017 Computer Science Department Invited Ms. Ankita Kittur for

discussing about “How to make projects in TY”. 22 Students of TYBsc(C.S) attended

this session.

• On 11th July 2017 Computer Science Department Invited Ms. Ankita Singh for

discussing about “LNT Interview Procedure”. 30 Students of TYBsc(C.S) attended

this session.

• On 18th July 2017, Computer Science Department invited Ms. Ankita Kittur for

discussing about “Placement Procedure” and difference between Bsc(C.S.) and

Engineering courses. 37 Students of FYBsc(C.S.) attended this session.

• On 5th Aug 2017 Computer Science department conducted a seminar on “Teradata”of

Mr. Girish Jagwani for SYBsc(Com.Sci.) Students. 35 students attended the same.

• On 2nd December 2017 Computer Science Department conducted seminar of Mr.

Harmit Jasani, Data Analyst, Accenture on “Data Analytics and Profiling using

Talend”
