In support to the DepEd Order No. 43 s. 2011 and Memorandum No. 433 s. 201Othe National Health Maintenance Drive with the theme " STRENGHTENING THE SCHOOLIIEALTH PROGRAM" which encourages private sectors group to participate and intensiff theirinvolvement in health care services to improve the health status of t}e school populace, ourFoundation wishes to assist and participate in the program by implementing in schools in theregion our BAYANIHAN I{YGIENIC CAMPAIGN through lectures and symposia.

The project aims to create awareness among our school students on the importanceof hygien0 of which when properly observed by everyone concemed, without consideration of sexor gender will help them do away with the embarrassment of having body odor in any form, as

well as minimize their exposure to some fomr of skin diseases and the infection it will cause.

Being able to overcome all these problems will help them establish for themselves a feeling ofself-worth and confidence.

Part of the campaign stresses on the proper education on the prevention at theonset of any skin diseases, thus preventing students from being infecled with diseases carried bycontaminated floodwater. Students with some form of skin problems such as flrngal infection likeathlete's foot or alipunga, scabies, new and old wounds, pnckly heat, boils and eczemq and the

likss, san be given advicc on hpw to treat them in their homes.

Paraphrasing a common dicfum we say, ooAn Ounce of Prevention is Better Than a

Psund of Cure??. May we pray for a positive r€sponse.

SCHOOL HEALTII MONTH CELEBRATION

1. The Department of Education (DepEd) through the Health and NutritionCenter (HNC) will celebrate the School Health Month in October 2010 pursuantto the Presidential Procla:nation No, 471 dated September 22, 1994 and DepEDMemorandum No. 148, s. 2O05 (school Celebration and Signilicant Events). Thetleeme of t$e celebration is "IntenslflcatTon af Adtncasg and Seralce ln tluManagement of W.I.L.D. (Water Borne, Infhtenzae, Lepbsptrosls cnd Dengrue)Illseases.'

2. Ttris celebration aims to:

, a. intensify health education activities for the prevention ofW.I.L.D. diseases;

b. encourage participation of otler goverrunents (GOs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) in the provision of healthservices in schools; and

c. reihforce environment sanitation and improvement of healthfacilities in schools.

3. The School Health Month celebration includes the foliowing activities;

FirstWeek

School Children's Oral Heaith Awareness Week. Scale up the implementation of the Essential Health

Care Program in the schoolsr Reinforce the 7 o'clock toothbrushing habit among

Grade I pupils. Conduct of lectures on oral health promotion

SecondWeek

Delivery of Health arrd Nutrition Services. Intensify DOH's 45 and D.E.N.G,U.E, Campaigns for

the prevention and control of dengue. Strengthen the Preventive Alert System in Schools

{PASS) (Please see enclosed.}ThirdWeek

Environmental Sanitation and Improvement of Facilities. Carnpaign for clean and saje schools
