January 2013

Office of Academics and Transformation

Student Progression Plan• Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 may enroll in selected senior high school

courses for a more challenging program of study. • Up to six credits may be earned (with parental permission) in grades 6, 7,

and/or 8, and may be applied toward the total credits needed for graduation, college admission, or for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program requirements.

• Students are considered to be grade 9 students for those class periods. • Factors to be considered include

– impact on the students’ GPA and subsequent rank in class– possible lack of recognition by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for

senior high school courses taken in a grade below grade 9– benefit of retaking a course in which skills have not been mastered.

• Courses taken will remain a part of a student’s middle school record, as well as the student’s senior high school record.

• Biology End-of-course requirements, as applicable, must be metDepartment of Mathematics and Science
