DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES ACADEMIC SESSION 2019-20 A three-day Educational Tour to Madhya Pradesh was organized by the Department of History from 23 rd 25 th August 2019. A group of 54 students and 3 Lecturers went on the Trip. A Historical Circuit of Gwalior-Orchha-Khajuraho-Sanchi-Udayagiri-Bhopal was covered. Major UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Temples of Khajuraho, Sanchi Stupa, and other ASI protected monuments like Udayagiri Caves, Gwalior Fort, Orchha Fort Complex were visited. With their spectacular architecture, design and intricate work, these monuments held the students of History captivated. The students also spent quality time on the banks of River Betwa. They also got a glimpse of tribal lifestyle and culture at The Tribal Museum, Bhopal which showcased different tribes of Madhya Pradesh with themed galleries, motifs and artifacts. The Museum also had an Amphitheatre where the students enjoyed the musical performances and cultural dances like the Chabua Dance. The Trip was a riveting and enriching once in a lifetime experience for the students.

❖ A three-day Educational Tour to Madhya Pradesh was organized by the Department of

History from 23rd – 25th August 2019. A group of 54 students and 3 Lecturers went on the

Trip. A Historical Circuit of Gwalior-Orchha-Khajuraho-Sanchi-Udayagiri-Bhopal was

covered. Major UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Temples of Khajuraho, Sanchi Stupa,

❖ A Talk on “US-Iran Tensions in Context of India's Stance” was organized by Forums of

the Department of Political Science and History on 19th August 2019. The Resource Person

for the Talk was Anant Shiraz Ellis from Mayo College, Ajmer, who gave a lucid and well

researched presentation on the topic followed by an interactive Q & A session with students.

❖ 3 Students and 1 Lecturer of the Department of History attended the National Conference

on ‘Gandhian Discourse in Humanities and Social Sciences (NCGDHSS-2019)’ held at

Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, Rajasthan from 2nd - 3rd October

2019. The Conference was useful for the students to understand and comprehend the nuances

of Gandhian thought.

❖ 11 Students of M.A. (Prev.) History visited the local imposing historical Monument

‘Adhai-Din ka Jhonpra’ at Ajmer on 18th December 2019. An example of religious

syncretism, the Visit was helpful for students to know the historical relevance of local

monuments.

❖ 56 students of BA I (History) visited the ‘Ajmer Government Museum’, which is located

in Akbari Fort, on 15th January 2020. Students visited various galleries including sections

on – Archaeology, Arts, Crafts, Armory, Industry, etc. The Visit was fascinating and

educative as it helped students visualize the History lessons through original and replica

models of pottery, coinage, jewelry, sculptures and inscriptions etc. of different historical

ages.

❖ A two-day Educational Tour was organized by the Department of History to

Kumbhalgarh-Ranakpur from 15th-16th February 2020. A group of 26 students and 3

lecturers went for the Trip. The History lessons on fort and temple architecture came alive for

the students when they got to witness the massive Kumbhalgarh Fort and beautiful temples of

Ranakpur. The Trip was highly informative and intriguing for the students.
